  1. The Beltway can barely hide their glee that Trump might win this...especially someone like Cilizza who has hated Hillary for quite a while. They're so in need of a Trump win they're now even trying to make sure the Syrian refugees are pinned on her as some type of negative. Nice to see xenophobia alive and well in the "liberal" Washington Post. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/14/dont-look-now-donald-trump-has-all-the-momentum-in-the-2016-race/
  2. Kyle is leaving. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eastenders/news/a807952/the-massive-eastenders-shake-up-continues-as-the-soaps-first-ever-trans-actor-riley-carter-millington-leaves/ I didn't mind him, but he never had anything to do, outside of one episode with Denise Welch. He was clearly cast solely for tokenism and headlines. Nothing more. Stacey didn't need a sibling. All that nonsense with that key was pointless puffery.
  3. The "they're both awful" is poisonous and leads to apathy, and also leads to what many say, which is, "At least Trump's honest" (even though he actually isn't). All those out there on the left who made a production of how terrible Hillary is and how noble they are to consider voting for her will choke on their words when a man who hates them and is backed by people who want to send them into the gutters is sent to the White House.
  4. I think there's a pretty decent chance Trump will win (I'd say about 45% or more), but I wish pollsters wouldn't compare us to Brexit. It's a different country (whatever you want to call the UK), different people, different circumstances. I think when the media does that it's an example of how insulated and precious they are.
  5. He's back, but then, he never really went away. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/corey-lewandowski-trump-campaign-228122 This says it all, about how easy and meaningless it is to get big money from CNN while working on a campaign. He's a journalist now! Ooh. Then again, with the likes of Geraldo and Stephanopolous out there, I guess he's not far off.
  6. Thanks. So I guess they aged Fiona. Beating a woman to death. Wow. German soaps don't play around...
  7. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-09-14/coronation-street-barlow-bombshells---adam-peter-and-daniel-return-storylines-revealed I'm glad that Oates has gone through with bringing them back, especially while Ken is still with the show. I would have recast Adam, as Sam Roberston mostly just had awful hair and made weird faces, but I've heard he's improved. We'll see. Rob Mallard was wonderful on Emmerdale last year as the twink (Connor) Robert had a history with and used to entrap Lawrence. A number of fans (me included) wanted him back. I'm glad he's going to get a chance on Corrie. I do wonder if he will be gay. If so then I have a feeling Oates may have split Todd/Billy up so fast so she can do Todd/Daniel. The show has a lot of young men in that age range so I wonder if this means goodbye to characters like Luke and gorgeous, invisible Andy.
  8. I think I posted some synopses from SOD years ago, but from what I remember, they died in a plane crash. Shana was guilt-ridden because she was supposed to be on the plane too. She became determined to find out the truth, and I think she eventually found out that Cabot had unknowingly had something to do with it, which led to Cabot's "death," didn't it? Does anyone remember?
  9. I loved that she asked if Trump would call him deplorable. Wait for the media to claim she is lying about using an oxygen tank.
  10. Goodbye Claudette http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eastenders/news/a807833/eastenders-exclusive-claudette-hubbard-is-waving-goodbye-to-albert-square/ I've always enjoyed Ellen Thomas on EE from her days as Mercy's gran, but Claudette was one of the worst-written and most convoluted characters in the show's history. The Fatboy story ruined her. When they paired her with Patrick recently I was ticked off, as it made him look just awful. I just wish [!@#$%^&*] Babe and Jane could be next.
  11. So I guess Egypt and Minnie were still somewhat around per later credits.
  12. The Quartermaine scenes in this episode are such fun, especially when Alan throttles Ned. It's hard to believe Gloria Monty saw them as a burden to the show. I love this version of Lila a lot more than the Jason-enabling sweetie of later years. The whole show even with some dark themes popping in and out (like Faison's obsession with Anna) has a positive tone that GH seemed to lose by the mid-90s.
  13. August 1990 episode (sorry if this was already around). She pops up about 9 minutes in.
  14. A nice surprise treat: Best parts for me are the Kate/Louie scenes - I can see why they were so popular with viewers. It all feels very genuine compared to the rest of the episode, which is watchable enough, but feels generic. I also love that ridiculous soapy moment from Cabot near the end. Watch for the familiar face in the Kate/Louie scene. It was also interesting to get to see the credits - I guess Egypt was gone by this point. I was surprised to see Alex in this episode so presumably he wasn't far behind.
  15. More decent scenes with Belle and her struggling parents today, and Dr. Bailey, who is oddly sympathetic considering his sleazy behavior. I hope we see Lisa really question her life after this and question why her daughter is so scared of her (it's likely because she was instrumental in Belle's breakdown). I was less confused about Tracy hiring the clown stripper (I could see her doing that accidentally) than by a pub being a place for a child's birthday party. Is this common? What would Alan Turner say? I'm also disappointed at the show having Adam completely separate himself from Johnny's life. I think Liv's just a kid who has never had a strong parental figure and therefore knows she can do what she wants. She used to seem really nasty but I haven't seen that as much in recent months. She mostly seems undisciplined. What she needs is her mother to be a part of her life again, with a stronger support system, but that doesn't seem likely.
  16. I've grown to like Sonia again this year, after either loathing or ignoring her for a long time. She seems more relateable and isn't so nasty and judgmental all the time. I can't say I'll miss her, but I hope they keep this balance when she returns. The carer story and her slowly dying relationship with Tina has been the most consistent story this year, somehow. Carmel - me me me me me me I'm so exciting and troubled me me me me me! I just can't stomach her. They need to have Denise have an abortion. There is more story in that than in Phil stealing another child. So Ben is giving Phil part of his liver because he's lonely and needy. Bad idea. It was such a mistake getting rid of Lee. He's such a believable, likeable, gorgeous young man. What a waste. Jane and Ian make me sick. Having to hear Jane whine about how she wants it to go back to the way it used to be (whenever that was - presumably when she spent a year hiding from him that she dumped his daughter's corpse like a bad habit) is pure agony. Why does the show not see that many viewers do not view her as a victim?
  17. Not much, no.
  18. I saw various Youtube clips of that Milo man chatting away on MSNBC, indulged by a host who was likely charmed by his accent. I have no respect for MSNBC as it is, but giving a platform for someone who riles up so much hatred guarantees I won't be watching their channel anytime soon.
  19. He also said that Trump's birtherism is "4 years ago," even though Trump has since refused to say he was wrong, and his surrogates like Rudy "Of course it's legal. It's a war" Fooliani have to lie that he's changed his mind. I can't stand that blithe bigot. I didn't realize until a few days ago some of the vile things said in his little newsletter back in the '90s - views he likely still supports. http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/mike-pence-lamented-aids-activists-speaking-gop-convention-published-anti-gay-articles-india http://www.pfaw.org/sites/default/files/images/4336_001.pdf?_ga=1.234380446.161301739.1469202878 (this one is really really really NSFW and has explicit talk of fetishes and sex practices) http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2016/09/01/mike_pence_gay_sex_essay_ronald_d_ray_on_homosexuals_in_the_military.html
  20. A few people in the comments section have been giving out some history about Tom's ultimate fate (apparently Marcy's gambling debts led her to be tied to the mob, which ended in Tom dying to protect some girl from a mobster - he died in Victor's arms). It's a fascinating read.
  21. I actually agree with Trump, even if it's not for the reasons he has (he doesn't want anyone to interrupt or question him). Moderators at Presidential debates are increasingly prone to showboating and blatant partisanship. Anyway, this is Trump's "deplorables" ad. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/trump-ad-deplorable I know you can never go broke underestimating the stupidity of the American public, but this is a remarkably cheap-looking ad, overwrought, flatly narrated, and overlong. I have a feeling they had her drone on and on because they know her voice will irritate some viewers, but it breaks away from whatever outrage the ad is supposed to stoke.
