  1. There were claims for a while before that he was on the outs.
  2. So he's been disinvited (Milo). I hope that's the start of his irrelevancy. To further that I promise that's the last time I'll mention his name.
  3. 20 years of Dominic Brunt as Paddy. http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/2017-02-20/one-of-emmerdales-best-loved-faces-celebrates-landmark-anniversary/
  4. Which just makes reviving series from that era even more pointless in the long run.
  5. It looks like Milo is being caught in the same "selectively edited" flap that so many on the far right love to pull. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-cpac-milo-yiannopoulos-tape-235204 Why an openly gay man was ever asked to headline that very far right convention never made sense to me. He's about to learn that hating all the right people isn't enough. As so many gay Republicans have over the years.
  6. If it's anything like the Riverdale thing that's going to end up being lip service anyway.
  7. I sound like an old man, but I blame a lot of it on social media and the Internet in general. You can't censor hate speech, not really, but it has become such a background noise that many were numb to it. There are a lot of voters who never go online, never go on Twitter or comments sections of articles and so on, but they get the same numbing from cable news, which has pushed far right viewpoints for 20 years while pretending it's all about "balance." None of this was ever pushed back against - instead these views are ignored, or treated in a patronizing way because of the idea that everyone obviously rejects them. So more extreme views just become everyday. I also blame all those stupid people over the last 20 years who have used words like "PC" as a crutch to be ignorant and stupid. Anyway, it looks like even people Trump chose have had enough: http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/white-house-nsc-aide-craig-deare-dismissed-235175
  8. The problem is they aren't exposed when they go on these shows. They are normalized. "Extreme" comments are chipped away at because they are never that extreme, as the people involved always pop back up. This Milo guy was a key figure in harassing a woman in large part because she was black, to the point where people hacked her just to humiliate her in the most personal way possible. And yet he still makes the rounds of talk shows, likely sitting and laughing it up with scum like Bill Maher when they aren't oncamera, because he's part of the circuit. Kellyanne Conway goes around spreading lies and inanity and insanity, but she still gets booked, no matter how much hypocrites like CNN or MSNBC pretend they are appalled, because she's also part of the circuit. That's not even getting into the lesser known carnival acts who pop up all over cable news. It's a sick but mutually beneficial relationship. These people get more attention, the "shocked" networks and hosts get more ratings and go viral. Matt Lauer doesn't give a damn about Trump, but he gets to be a social media hero for a day because he tsk-tsks Kellyanne Conway. They're playing us for fools.
  9. Is it sad that I'm surprised there was even a backlash? I genuinely am surprised.
  10. Thanks. I had a feeling they might be. I hope I get to see that scene someday. Randall was very special, and very underrated as Delia. It's one of the reasons I think the show struggled for a while with how to write her after Ilene returned.
  11. Politico has an audio tape of Trump in schmooze mode, if anyone wants to stomach it. http://www.politico.com/video/2017/02/170216-trump-bedminsteraudio-full-062271
  12. Thank you for finding that. I have that 1982 episode on tape somewhere but it's in a box in some place. I was trying to figure out if the other episodes were the same ones that Freeflyur already uploaded.
  13. An interesting interview about the upcoming elections in France. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/interrogation/2017/02/is_marine_le_pen_really_france_s_donald_trump_c_cile_alduy_on_the_next_big.html
  14. I read that he had that Milo guy on there. Nice to see that the blowhard continues to give handouts to the far right even as he pretends he disagrees with them.
  15. Looks like Trump's cronies in Congress are already pushing to expose the leaks in the intelligence community and help him out. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-leaks-devin-nunes-classified-intelligence-235167
  16. I'm glad someone said it - Jake Tapper and other Beltway "heroes" are mostly just benefiting from Trump and enabling him as well. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-media-war-anchors-235160
  17. These haven't been the best few years for the cast... He lived a long and good life, which is the main thing, but I'm sorry to hear he passed. He added such a dose of normality to the show that helped make you connect more to the town and to the case. That was critical in those early episodes and those early scenes of finding Laura's body.
  18. RIP Bob Michel. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/bob-michel-dies-former-gop-house-leader-234936
  19. I don't think JA was necessarily saying she wants Trump to stay, just that without him people likely won't be motivated. I don't want him to stay. I know that he's a danger to the world and to us. I hope he resigns ASAP, and we never hear from him again. I just worry at how many underestimate Pence and the likely public and press support he will get.
  20. Plenty protested against Bush but he still won a comfortable reelection in 2004. It took a collapse on multiple levels to change the public's mindset, and even then, they only gave Obama 2 years before they kneecapped him in 2010. I assume the worst of the media and I always will. Maybe I shouldn't, but I just can't change that at this point. If Trump wasn't so openly hostile to them I think we'd be in a very different place right now in terms of how he's seen. They walked over hot coals for Republicans for decades because up to Trump most of them kissed ass.
  21. I didn't mean you or anyone here. I meant the media in general, who have led millions to slaughter (literally) for their stern father issues (which he fits to a tee), and the public, who turn a blind eye to just about anything Republican Presidents do unless it gets really really really bad. If we get Pence I just want people to prepare for 8 years of him and his hate campaigns. Of course I realize the alternative is likely death, so I don't think anyone here is being glib or not taking it seriously.
  22. Oh definitely. They do use women and pit women against each other. And pieces of [!@#$%^&*] like Bill Maher did the same by promoting the vile Ann Coulter as his special friend for years on Politically incorrect. I don't mean to demean most women in journalism by saying what I say about Kelly. I just think that was ultimately her role - she was also good at feigning objectivity and intelligence for a while, which meant she was a "challenge," rather than, say, another Elisabeth Hasselback (ugh), but even that has its limits for the men who watch that channel to perv. She hit that limit with her Trump conflicts, and I think that would have sped her departure even if Gretchen Carlson hadn't destroyed the last shreds of Roger Ailes' standing at the network. (and of course Gretchen Carlson epitomizes what you describe with their network)
  23. The truth is I doubt anyone would want Shepherd Smith. Megyn Kelly is flavor of the moment, a pretty blonde thing in an industry full of them; her relevance peaked with the election. I tend to wonder if Faux News is somewhat glad to be rid of her. I'm glad you have that fight in you. Sadly I think we'll be among the few who don't join the parade.
  24. Another episode. Some good Clay and Alex scenes in this. And @slick jones it has a cast crawl too.
