  1. He left for a few years and played a role he (and no one else) cared for on GH, then returned again. I'm glad these are bringing back memories for you. They are so beautifully produced - while I wish they went into a bit more beyond what we already know, at least they did make an effort with Loving. It's too bad ABC didn't have this in the 80s.
  2. Yes Grace Albertson does look like that. Donna's character was a nun at this time so I guess she was modest. It's sad that this was the highwater mater for Nancy Hsueh, and generally, for Amerasian actors in daytime.
  3. Who's Who in Daytime TV 1967
  4. I don't know some of the people in the last 2. Do you?
  5. 1967 Who's Who in Daytime TV.
  6. December 1976 Daytime TV.
  7. Don't be embarrassed (only be embarrassed if you were attracted to Tony Soleito...just kidding). I have seen little of him on Loving but when I see the ATWT episodes he was in, he is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I hate the whole idea of men wandering around sans shirt for no reason and most of the time it does nothing for me but with him it really does. It's too bad he kind of whimpered out at Loving, but then I guess just about everyone did, didn't they? Kind of odd that Deborah got the happiest ending. I'm glad to know you haven't seen this before, as I always enjoy your thoughts on the show.
  8. September/October 1991 Episodes.
  9. Charlie is returning for two episodes. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a306785/charlie-slater-to-make-brief-enders-return.html Fatboy's father has been cast. http://www.walfordweb.co.uk/item.php?id=2825
  10. I think that's Roya - there's that old photo of her with Perry Stephens, both looking so smoldering and bare-chested (well he is anyway - we don't see her chest). Don't get me wrong, I was very drawn into Gwyn's pain and her soldiering on throughout the murder mystery (which made the ending even more heartbreaking), I just wonder when she changed. I guess it might have been down to Christine Tudor gaining some weight as time passed.
  11. I hadn't seen those in a while. I think that's Ava. Seeing Gwyn's arrival always makes me feel sad, knowing what she became. I wonder when exactly the change to her being so sorrowful happened. It's interesting how Anthony Herrera bounced between Loving and ATWT for about a dozen years. I wonder if he gave Cady McClain any tips. I have some more Episodes stuff I will try to post later so I'm glad you brought this back up. I may have already asked this but do you know what affect the 1988 strike had on Loving? Then again if any soap fans were used to out of nowhere plotting and casting changes, it would have to be Loving fans (or AW fans).
  12. June/July/August 1954 Radio TV Mirror entries for Right to Happiness continue the same stuff about Carolyn being worried that Miles is falling prey to Annette and that he has changed and may never be the same again. This is March 1955. A friendly gesture has involved Carolyn in one of the most complicated problems she has ever faced, as the development of the Wayne case makes it easier than ever for her enemies to attack her and to pile up more ammunition against her husband, Miles Nelson. Will the trial have a far-reaching effect on Miles' future - not only on his political future but even perhaps his personal one?
  13. 1969 Who's Who in Daytime TV (Eileen looks like some of the more experimental artwork from Marvel at this time):
  14. I was trying to remember when that story started. I wonder if something was planned but dropped. Poor Pat - she always gave her best even in the smallest scenes. I know many felt that she was a spare part but I feel like characters like Ellen are what make soaps unique, these figures of history and wisdom and warmth, yet also with an occasional edge. She's someone I didn't appreciate until I was older and she was already gone.
  15. From the June 3, 1980 Digest.
  16. Do you know anything about Sounds of the City, a black-oriented soap which ran on the Mutual Black Network from spring 1974 to spring 1975?
  17. Dumping the Matthews family (although that also went on after Lemay left), focusing on characters who left after a few years, bringing in the Frame siblings who were seen as mostly too unsympathetic or toxic for some to invest in. I don't know if this was a popular opinion or not. I do wonder sometimes as the show seemed to have little structure by the end of the 70s, and if Vicky Wyndham or Doug Watson had decided to leave I don't know what would have happened. Sometimes those fans reminded me of Aunt Liz or Rachel when they used to tear into the Frames - something Lemay captured very well in his brief 1988 return.
  18. Some longtime AW fans insisted that Lemay/Rauch destroyed AW...while that's probably hyperbole I have often seen their point.
  19. I guess Ohio big business and government must be relieved that Wisconsin took any attention away from them. Their bill also includes firefighters and cops in their anti-union legislation, and it seems to say that striking will get you put in prison? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/02/us/02states.html?_r=2&hp
  20. Yeah it's so sad to me when people say the show has the best teens ever now or the best college students ever. I'm usually like, "Was 2007 that long ago?" To me the show continues to have some shockingly bad new characters/actors.
  21. I wonder if Lemay knew how to structure a soap or not - at AW he brought other playwrights in as breakdown writers and seemed to restructure the soap to his tastes. This worked with AW because it had a strong past for viewers which he could still use, but L&F didn't.
