It's too bad they didn't have more interaction, especially since they both seemed to run out of story in the late 90's. I could see Dru reminding Jill of her past.

I wasn't sure if all this had been shown before, in her Intimate Portrait or elsewhere, but I posted anyway as I'm not sure how often any magazine had so many pages of coverage - Afternoon TV had those wonderful profiles in the 70's that I've never seen anywhere else. The photos of her in theater are beautiful. She seemed to have a lot of range. The photo with the tigers is so bewildering - I can't imagine what type of PR stunt that was. As kids, she and her siblings look a lot like Jackie Cooper.

There was a horrible tone deafness to MADD, and, although she has nothing to do with Zaslow, FMB had the same problem at As the World Turns, in regards to not knowing how to deal with people and having a tin ear for publicity. I don't think they understood anything about P&G soaps.

I was just happy to see Steph laughing and smiling again, and leaving on a more touching note, instead of choosing to burn up in a fire after a horribly maudlin, poorly paced cancer story. And she got to go on her own terms, instead of her death being about Lee Hunter's boy band. The last scene where Frankie got her message meant a lot to me, even if I don't like Frankie. Those types of moments are what Hollyoaks does so well, not the endless regurgitated dourness which goes nowhere and has no followthrough. The least believable family I've ever seen on a soap (the Costellos) being rushed out after their plot device grandfather murdered his daughter. Warren given the bum's rush mostly because the actor quit - before that they never bothered to give him a storyline. Yet more installments of the noblest, most long-suffering murderer and boyfriend-beater around, Brendan Brady. No thanks.

Was race ever implied as a reason why Jill was so hostile? I know when Dru first started it seemed like there might be some class/race issues addressed on the canvas. I wasn't able to watch that much at the time, so I mostly remember Dru with her family.

Thanks. It all sounds so sad - the relationship being damaged, even though Erica did try. I never knew she tried as much as she did. That adds more layers. I wish they'd kept them in a somewhat damaged but somewhat loving relationship, instead of having Kendall become Erica's enemy.

I love the idea of Dru "learning" from Jill. I don't remember any real interaction between them.
