  1. Good chapter, especially the Vicky/Stacey scenes. Stacey is sanctimonious as always. Kind of sad, if not unrealistic, that Bay City will elect (again!) someone who killed their own brother and committed many other crimes, but not someone who is gay.
  2. This was great! So much drama in one chapter. Your dialogue for Amanda sounds so much like her. I was shocked that Sharlene now has Janice as an alter. I find that very believable, somehow. I like all the conflicts in this and the use of history.
  3. They even ran ads showing the pictures of that ambassador in the moments after his death. It's all politics for them, all the time.
  4. 1) She's a proxy to Obama. If they attack her, they get to him. 2) She's black, and a woman.
  5. Three January 94 episodes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZEuorI3u1g
  6. I never got to read this until now. Thanks for letting me know, I'm sorry for the delay. I like the way you keep pushing the class divide - it adds so many layers to your story, without feeling forced. I also thought the dialogue was very natural. You used "you're" instead of "your" a few times, but that's not a big deal.
  7. While looking for some Bobbi Jordan clips, I saw a mention of a recent Valerie Starrett interview. She speaks briefly about why she left GH. http://sixtiescinema.com/2012/07/10/valerie-starrett-this-angel-can-act-and-write/ It sucks that she had to leave that way. From the little I've seen of her, I much prefer her to Brooke Bundy.
  8. I never knew they were on Valiant Lady.
  9. Are you sure about that Vanessa story? I thought she had the sexual harassment story with that Barclay guy. Did I block the other one out? I must have, for my own sake.
  10. So she was there in the mid-80s. That was such a time of turnover.
  11. There are four 1992 clips up, I think mentioned as January 16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTIMtE1BQ2c&feature=channel&list=UL
  12. Dorian is wearing a dress made out of tinsel.
  13. Thanks for reading. I agree with you. The cast seemed very real. That was also true of AMC for many years.
  14. I don't watch this show but Parks & Recreation had a funny cameo from Joe Biden last week. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/11/16/vice-president-bidens-parks-and-recreation-cameo-video/
  15. After months and months of seclusion, Jesse Jackson Jr. has finally resigned from Congress. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1112/84150.html?hp=t1_3
  16. This is low class, no class [!@#$%^&*]. I hope McMahon is finally all washed up. http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/politics/campaign-worker-receives-check-and-condom-check-bounces#.UKyt1Ya8BSg
  17. Someone at TWOP was asking if anyone remembers this actor from ATWT. He also went by Cliff Goodwin. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/washingtonpost/obituary.aspx?n=clifford-goodwin&pid=161142124#fbLoggedOuthttp://
  18. RIP Warren Rudman. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-11-20/warren-rudman-senator-who-fought-budget-deficits-dies-at-82.html Why everyone's favorite Tea Party hero lost (kind of ironic that for all his far right hates, he went to Mark Foley for advice). http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1112/84108.html?hp=f2
  19. For me it's not so much about disliking her as seeing her as very dull and drab. I guess this worked when she was up against Eden, and Cruz, because that might have made Cruz remember her more fondly, but when they paired her with Mason she just took up space.
  20. The biggest failing of the GOP elite in this past election was their refusal to hide just how much they hate the public. Rove hid it when Bush was first in office - the public was treated to various PR events which could make them feel more at ease. Now the public gets "makers and takers." This is Heritage Foundation-type speak which sounds very profound to very rich men who all have the same background and the same goal and will nod along with each other. But the message to the public amounted to, "You're stupid and worthless because you want something for yourself. You're supposed to want something that benefits us, and maybe someday we'll throw you a few bucks, if we feel like it. That's what America is about." Romney's plan essentially was a) I'm not Obama b ) you're beneath contempt c) get over yourself. And this is the plan we've continued to see since Romney lost. The only difference is they may hide behind a minority in 2016.
  21. I thought the view was that Carter was dangerous because of Iran and because he made America sad, et al. I don't know. I never understand why Democratic Presidents are always compared in some type of weird mix and match format. I think it's based on the media seeing Democrats as interlopers, and Republicans as the father who stops by to check on them and turn out their bedroom light. It's a win-win for some businesses. They have adapted to having less workers with lower salaries, who work harder. And it's a goldmine for them, because they can just blame Obama. The man who owns Papa John's is hugely wealthy, and yet he can dump people, blame Obamacare, and become a hero and a savior.
  22. I just wonder how those who spent 4 years saying Obama was Jimmy Carter will react. Is he Jimmy Carter on steroids now?
  23. They almost have to gain seats in 2014. At least in the Senate - they may have reached their peak in the House. The Senate, there are too many seats for Democrats to lose, and I'm not sure the Republicans are going to be dumb enough to keep picking Akins and O'Donnells for a third straight cycle.
  24. This link works better for me. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/19/us/politics/after-democrats-gain-across-the-country-conservative-voters-wonder-where-they-fit.html That was an interesting article. Wyoming is a very complicated state. I did laugh when one of the conservatives invoked Kennedy. Wow. National Review, as is to be expected I guess, has had some heinous articles up lately, including one which compared the decline of whites as a majority to genocide in Rwanda, another which says Romney lost because of the young, the women, and minorities, none of whom are cultured, none of whom read the Times. http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2012/11/19/career-racist-mark-steyn-writes-about-tribalism/ http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2012/11/13/shorter-gop-pundit-women-black-people-young-people-do-not-read/
