  3. I wasn't watching but just decided Peggy was upset about Phil and Sharon being around each other again. So what did you think of the Christmas episode? Did you watch?
  4. I saw some upset comments because Sharon didn't mention Dennis' death on NYE. I can see where Sharon wouldn't exactly want to talk about this, but I do wonder if they should have mentioned it for new viewers. There was also some upset over Peggy and Sharon now feuding again. Not too shocking for Peggy though. Apparently they had no story plans in mind for Sharon when she returned? Did they?

  6. I read that this means the next negotiation will be in two months, which upsets a lot of Democrats in the Senate. How much did Democrats cave and how much have Republicans won? The more the media likes the deal the more it will hurt us.
  7. So we may be about to go over the cliff (I'm assuming we still are) and John McCain is raging about Obama having a rally. And this gets media attention. Go away. Remembering 2012. http://www.politico.com/multimedia/video/2012/12/2012-year-in-review.html?ml=vi_1
  8. Many others know more than I do, but I'm glad I could help a little. You can see more bits and pieces of the Douglas story and aftermath on that channel, munecojim, Oakdalian, and patc2000.
  9. I think Diana could have lasted for a number of years if Kim Ulrich had wanted to stay. I think Marland might have had fun writing for her, as she was such a vulnerable bitch, similar to how he wrote Barbara for a number of years. I could see him using her to help bring down Steve and Betsy. Kirk was a thin character mostly carried by CLB's youth and charm. Brian was pointless. Whit was a bad actor in a bad wig. I think Jay was a perfectly serviceable young leading man and I think he was written out mostly because his last name wasn't Snyder. I have only seen a few scattered Pinkerton episodes on Youtube - she does a good job with what she's given but it doesn't seem like much of a role.
  10. Thanks for keeping that going. I don't want to add more videos to the page but someone is uploading the Joe/Kelly story from the start. If anyone wants the link I'll send it. (I must say that it's marred by some horribly OTT acting and staging - less said about Joe's father and Peter Flint the better - but I do like Dane Witherspoon and Robin Wright, I even like hearing that song 5000 times, and I like the early stages of psycho Augusta and Dominic). Why did Augusta want Joe dead?
  11. It actually took me a few minutes to figure out which one you meant...
  12. Hillary's in the hospital. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/hillary-clinton-hospitalized-with-blood-clot?ref=fpb
  13. I don't think that will happen, sadly. She also needs to go with lighter hair.
  14. Until Brendan and Ste are both gone I won't be watching very much. They make me sick. I don't want to see characters who tell viewers that the only way to find love is to get a beating. It horrifies me. John Paul was dull and pointless from the time they had him sleep with Craig so I'm not surprised if he's the same now. I liked Westbrook in her EE return. I thought her last one, with Kirkwood, was good. It was the Santer return that was grotesque panto.
  15. This was Martha Byrne as Lily. Marie was a nasty, scheming woman Kevin had been involved with at Harvard, which broke up his relationship with Frannie. She told a lot of lies, including one that Kevin had paid for her to have an abortion. I think she also lied that Kevin beat her. She came to Oakdale looking for more money. Marie was played by Fran Heflin's daughter (Fran was Mona Kane on AMC). Douglas was Marcia's brother-in-law. He had worshiped her sister, Caroline, who had died in a riding accident, I believe. He had moved to Oakdale shortly before this episode, opening a new restaurant, Caroline's. Marcia worshiped Douglas. Viewers later learned that Douglas had been horribly abused as a child, to the point where he was impotent as an adult. As a boy, he'd gone to see Kim in a concert, or worked where she worked, or something. He became obsessed with her. After Caroline's death, he became obsessed with Kim again, as a mother figure, and began stalking her to show his love, as well as wooing Frannie to get closer to Kim. He did care for Frannie, but mostly through Kim. This led to a pile of bodies of characters like Marie, as well as other recurring players, with Kevin accused of the crimes. Eventually Kim and Frannie learned the truth, he kidnapped them, Marcia killed him, kept quiet to punish Kim and Frannie (Kim went on trial - she thought Frannie had killed him; Frannie knew the truth but had blocked it out). Kevin was killed by Marcia at the end of the kidnapping story. The woman with the dark hair is Shannon, who ran a homeless shelter, and had befriended John and Dusty when she arrived in Oakdale. She was involved with Brian McColl (Pinter) at this time. That was Lyla, yes. Jay Connors had dated Frannie when he first came on the show. He was part of a teen group - Frannie/Jay/Marcy/Kirk. He and Kirk had a friendship/rivalry based on Kirk being a spoiled rich kid and Jay being the poor son of the maid. They fought over Frannie. In time Jay learned his mother, the maid, was also Kirk's mother, which was one reason the father, Whit (also Brian's father) had never been as close to Kirk as he'd been to his other children. When Whit told the mother that he was firing her, as the kids were now grown, she snapped, as she was in love with him, and also suffering from a brain tumor she didn't know about. She killed him, blocked it out (sensing a pattern here?), and Jay stood trial. She confessed all at the last minute, and soon died. Frannie and Jay split, with Frannie going to Harvard, where she met Kevin. Kirk and Marcy separately left town. By the time of this episode, Jay was being phased out. He ran a diner, offcamera, and dated a girl named Speed, offcamera. He and Speed were last seen around spring 1986.
  16. Thanks. I thought NBC would have been a little better.
  17. Thanks. I can't stomach that garbage but I will look for that soon.
  18. I wish they'd bring Morales and his family back.
  19. How did it look? Are you sure that wasn't just Bart's face?
  20. I believe that is the actor before Zimmerman, but I'm not sure.
  21. I thought Eakes and Canary had great chemistry. The writing sucked but they had it. I saw little with MEK, although she was far from alone in that area.
  22. Thanks! I thought they just put up material I'd already seen but some of that is new.
  23. There's been some talk that the main woman (Congresswoman Hanabusa) has ethical scandals, or is seen as too old (60), or has conflict with Maizie Hirono, the other senator. Still, the optics aren't good. Looks like we're going over the cliff. http://www.politico.com/story/2012/12/fiscal-cliff-deal-increasingly-unlikely-85511.html?hp=f1 Ridiculous and slightly scary story about the implosion of Dick Armey's group Freedomworks, complete with Armey and entourage waltzing into the building and escorting some employees out at gunpoint. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/freedomworks-tea-party-group-nearly-falls-apart-in-fight-between-old-and-new-guard/2012/12/25/dd095b68-4545-11e2-8061-253bccfc7532_print.html
  24. I don't watch Mad Men. Was that episode one which is on Youtube as well?
