  1. Debbie was just somewhat whiny and drab and cliched. Tess had much more personality. Rosanna was a dud because Yvonne Perry, to me, did not have the inner life as an actress to make the role work, and unlike Martha Byrne, she also didn't have the strong support system of Liz Hubbard and Lisa Brown that were able to help her and tone down some of her limitations. And the story with Rosanna was such an obvious retread. I don't care for Barbara as the long-suffering heroine, but I prefer her here as she is just a little spikier. By the time of Brian McColl she seemed directionless.
  2. Another media darling, Ben Carson, often breathlessly hyped earlier this year as a surefire Presidential nominee, spews hate. Get the media some smelling salt, they eat this stuff up. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/10/11/fox-news-ben-carson-re-educate-the-women-because-they-get-all-riled-up-over-abortion/ http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/ben-carson-obamacare-slavery-98185.html?hp=l1
  3. From what I've seen of Deas as Tom, I don't mind him. He's OTT, but not THAT OTT. I can't believe him as Bob's son or even Lisa's son (and I can't imagine Nancy putting up with him...she'd smack him in the ear), but I do think his intensity and passion helped revive a role that had become somewhat moribund. I just wish that they hadn't ignored all of Tom's pre-1980 history from then on (aside from his time in Vietnam). I really wish they'd made a deal with the devil to keep Gregg Marx on the show. I had never seen him before, as I only started watching the show in 1989 or 1990, but I have loved every single moment of his work from the time I finally did begin seeing him. (too bad they didn't make him keep the beard)

  5. Deborah Watling saying how wonderful it is to get to see her father again gave me such bittersweet feelings. I'm just happy that more were found while these actors are still with us. You could see how delighted Frazer and Deborah were.
  6. I've always wanted to see more of this time because Victoria is such a unique companion, probably the only time the show managed to have a young female companion who was somewhat quaint and learning to cope, a daughter and sister figure (they also had this with Nyssa but it didn't work quite as well). This is also the only time the Doctor had two companions from the distant past (this led to a scene in Enemy where neither of them knew what a helicopter was). And they're so young and full of such energy. Mark Gatiss said at the press thing that Web of Fear was the ultimate Doctor Who story and the one he'd been waiting most of his life to get to see. I don't have itunes but I'm going to get it to buy some of these. I know some are waiting for the DVD, but I'm not sure if I want that now, as it probably won't have any extra features. I'm sure that will be rereleased a few dozen times with more features. There are rumors there might be more down the line. I hope so, but whether there are or not, this is such a huge find. 7. Part of a 1989 episode.
  8. Some clips/episodes.

  10. A rare (ear) glimpse of Audra Lindley here. Her Liz was a mess! Enthralling, but I can see why her family fled town. This is just unhinged pain and rage. I can imagine viewers at the time being hooked. Thank you to saynotoursoap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_ecW_-20jA
  11. Robert Sharp uploaded some 1981 episodes. I put them in the Videobash thread. This is from saynotoursoap. Wonderful clip. I love this Tiffany character. I wish I could see more of her. And Lois Kibbee is divine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AuNMNdoI6E

Available now on itunes and next month on DVD. Tell your friends and family who are as pathetic as I am!
  14. I guess her best partner was Cal, although even he was never quite right. I'm not sure who would have been. The relationship with John is always a little baffling to me.
  15. I thought Rhys' death was pre-Kirkwood.
  16. I think it isolated Emma somewhat, but the others generally had full interaction with the rest of the town. I do think by the end of Marland's run everything had become suffocated with the family. And Caleb was nothing without MDM. They should have written him out.
  17. Interviews (spoilers, obviously). Norman Reedus doesn't seem thrilled. http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/10/08/walking-dead-scott-gimple-season-4/ http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/10/07/walking-dead-norman-reedus-season-4/ http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/10/04/the-walking-dead-andrew-lincoln-season-4/

  21. Marlena wrote a column about how the Laiman/Passanante/Sloane year was all romance romance supercouples romance, and how this may have worked at DAYS (although she did not like it), but decidedly did not work at OLTL.
  22. I wonder what his stories would have been if he'd stayed. I think HBS implied the show was going to have a Nora/Drew affair, but it changed. I never really got the Carlo hype and wasn't sure why he returned. I finally did once I watched some of the original Alex/Carlo stuff on Youtube. Still don't think he should have come back.
  23. There's that liberal media again. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/associated-press-retracts-story-terry-mcauliffe-lie-claim-virginia-governor-race-2013-98119.html?hp=f2
