BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I feel like to be the head of a family like this you have to be a little grey but at the same time, I'm not convinced Vernon was wrong to cover this up. We still don't know the full details but we do know racism was involved.

I loved those Vernon and Bill scenes! They are amongst the finest this series has ever produced. They truly went toe to toe and it kept me on my toes. I kept expecting Vernon to have to back down and I love how he didn't in the end. I get both of their argument but I feel like Vernon's deep love for Dani is what made him stand his ground. I loved seeing a darker side to him.

I get it with Chelsea but there is something about Madison that I don't trust. She's a doctor and probably a little older and more experienced. Why is she acting so naive? I feel like she's hiding something. I want my girl to be happy but I'm not seeing it.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Yes and as always, it's the best show on Bravo! The biggest surprise for me this far is that for once I'm taking Larsa's side. It took Jody morphing into a creep for me to appreciate the brilliance of Larsa. She is immature and her delivery is harsh but she is right this time. Alexia always has such a fascinating life but I'm over Todd and disappointed she'd stay with him after the way he left her. Frankie is the heart of the show and to know he'd move out in front of him is unforgivable. If it were Peter or someone else that would be one thing but he had to know that would confuse Frankie and cause him stress. I get that Alexia depends on men to survive but she can find another man. Another thing that has my eye is Julia vs Guerdy. I've never been a big Guerdy fan. I felt like in previous seasons she tried too hard and struggled to find a solid place in the ground. Last season she overcame that and now I do think she fits in perfectly with the cast. Julia, on the other hand, has been one of my favorites since she first appeared. This season I can't stand Julia. I hate a housewife who makes up a story but this one is so poorly done and clearly made up that I hope EVERYONE drops her. This needs to be her last season. Beyond that, I'm loving everything. Everybody is wonderful and I can't wait for the future episodes. I'm glad Miami is back because Atlanta was not doing it for me. I feel like we're about to have a good run with Miami, OC and then Salt Lake. I hope Peacock ends up showing London but I have a Hayu subscription and a VPN so I'll be watching that either way!

ALL: Your first soap watching memory
My earliest soap memories are of ATWT and Y&R. I'd watch with my grandparents and those are the two that stuck with me at a very young age. Y&R what drew me in were the Black characters and Victor. On ATWT it was Kathryn Hayes. I remember Y&R was easier for me to understand but my grandpa knew all of the ATWT history and would always fill me in on who was related to who and what was going on.

What was sending me was seeing Joey in the room! I can't imagine what would make the Duprees team up with him. Makes me wonder if maybe he's not as bad as we've thought? Yep. I feel like they keep showing us that they know what they're doing and they have a plan. Nothing feels thrown together. We will have to wait and see what happens but I'm going in confident whatever they have planned will land.

I now understand why Brandon Claybon kept saying nobody guessed Martin's secret. Friday's episode took this in a direction I wasn't expected but I was pleasantly surprised. So far this is lining up to be 3/3 with reveals on BTG. I love the prospect of the men all banding together to keep this secret. BTG has been a well welcomed female led show but it's still nice to see the men get in on the action. I also like how they've tied the police story to Martin's secret in addition to Ted and Joey. I have no idea what is coming next and I love that! Seeing Vernon step up has also been nice. Next week is going to be another dynamic week for them!

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
Just from looking at instagram comments, it seems like Jen Jacobs is very popular on set with the cast and crew. She's also posted in the past about feeling down after reading comments about herself. I do feel bad for her because I think she's a good actress but the character has been botched from day one. If they love her so much they owe it to her to try something else. You can't convince me that there is a place where they have data showing that people enjoy the storyline or character. They need to make this breakup with Derek stick and find something completely different for her to do. I feel like the easiest path would be to let her be single (and please god no pregnancy) and work her around the cast as a supporting character. Once people start to like her then you can attempt a different romance but it can't be with Andre or Derek. Maybe they could do the long speculated reveal that Joey is her dad. That would allow her to develop something with Doug and Vanessa. Would also be interesting to see how she reacts to have a dad who isn't perfect.

She needs something to further develop her character outside of Bill's life. She has no friends or family which I think is a big problem. Same goes for Smitty and why I wish Pamela was his mother. With so much focus on the Dupree family you have characters that are isolated. That hurts their development in the long run.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Granted it's only two episodes but I'm enjoying the new stories so far. I feel like I didn't love what was done with the Slater's under the previous regime but they seem more interesting so far. I know it takes time to see if a UK writer is good or not due to the rotating stories but they're definitely off to a good start.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I don't know if I'm articulating this right but I feel like there were too many established couples. I wish there was more room to watch people falling in love. This could've also helped us avoid things like the issues with Ashley/Derek. It would've been more interesting if we saw their relationship begin with the series instead of passing them off as this long term couple. I've seen many people say the sexual harassment case was dropped but I always took that as a tool to develop Bill and Naomi's relationship. Did we really expect them to go through a full trial (which is rare in that type of case) for a bunch of dayplayers? With the Articulettes reunion, I wouldn't say that story is over, but it was clearly planned to coincide with Tamara's break. Now if she comes back and it's forgotten then I'll agree it was a waste but it's too soon to say that the story is over. It really just started.

BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
MVJ has always been outspoken on social media so that doesn't surprise me. I'm glad she said something. I've often seen (myself included) where someone will mention "where is this character" or "why didn't X happen" and then the next episode or the next couple episodes the thing mention is addressed. I've learned to trust the process. I also don't personally feel like the show has had a chance to reach it's full potential. I feel like so many of the reactions are as if this show has been on for years. No soap was perfect from day one. I want to at least see what it looks like 6 months in when they've had a chance to make changes and incorporate feedback. Hell, it might be longer than 6 months. They film 3 months in advance which means they're writing even further in advance but I do have faith they'll get it right in the long run. We're seeing some growing pains but the show continues to show improvement.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
How can you say this when we haven't reached a point where we are watching episodes that came at a time they could incorporate viewer feedback? We haven't even had four full months worth of episodes yet and the show films three months in advance. This reminds me of how British soaps are structured and I actually like this. Instead of the repetitive conversations for weeks on end, I like that they rotate the stories and keep things moving.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
This is why I'm really looking forward to the fall. My hope is that once they've had a time to look at viewer feedback they make some adjustments to things like this. It's clear they plan on both Ashley and Derek being around but they gotta put them in better stories for that to happen. I'll be disappointed if come fall they haven't changed course for them.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I never thought the day would come but Derek has grown on me. I feel like that week where the story was heavy on Derek and Ashley was some sort of breakthrough for him. He seems more comfortable in his scenes and he's watchable when with other characters. I thought his scenes with Leslie were hilarious and he has chemistry with Haley, Jacob and Naomi. I used to like Ashley but the way they write her is so tiresome. The only time I like her is as a supporting character interacting with Naomi or her mom. They need to drop the Andre/Derek romance angle and figure out who she is and how she fits on the canvas and then start fresh with a new love interest.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree with you and I've been loving the show, including last week. Even in "slower" weeks, I love seeing the characters develop and getting see everybody get in the mix. Y&R is heavily promoting this Dumas reveal which has taken six months. I love that BTG isn't wasting time like that and instead is rotating stories in and out so we don't get bored, or at least I'm not bored. For me real criticism will come around the 6-7 month mark. I want to give them time to implement any viewer feedback which wouldn't air until the fall. I don't mind people who are critical now though, everybody has their own way of looking at things but for me I feel like they've laid a strong foundation and I feel like the show is getting better each week.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
With them living in DC I think it would've been a great opportunity to give them an industrial style loft. With the open concept they could've fit a living area as well as a bedroom. This could've been a nice meet up place for Ashley and Derek to help develop their friendship. I 100% agree here. I feel like their set is Anita's set and it would be nice if Vernon had his own space. I picture it with dark wood and shelves filled with books. Something masculine but cozy. I don't know if I need an office for Vanessa considering she's a realtor but does she even have a home? I can't recall if we've seen Vanessa or Doug at home. Yes! Not only a terrace but I wish they had an outdoor space since it's a country club. I 100% agree. I've been so disappointed by the lack of location shooting. That scene with Bill and Naomi in week one was gorgeous and that would be an easy location to use over and over again. It's visually stunning and doesn't require much setup. Just throw a couple benches down and have people walking through the park. I'd also love a coffee shop, something more grab and go than Orphey Gene's. With it now being summer I wish they had a version of GH's metro court pool set. Ideally it would be an outdoor set meant to be the pool at the country club. Since the characters are so buttoned up it would be a nice way to have the characters take some clothes off and be shown in a more relaxing setting. I knew not to get my hopes up but my biggest hope for BTG is that they'd modernize the production model which to me means regular outdoor shooting. It especially sucks because they're in a studio that can accommodate that. B&B is moving to a similar studio but based on BTG I know not to have high expectations when it comes to this.

I don't know what it was, maybe because I haven't seen him in a minute but Martin was looking fine as hell in this episode! It was so nice seeing him again as well as Marcel and Carlton! I know people were giving those of us who don't like nuTed hell but you can't tell me that man aint a complete bust. The character is useless now. He is so meek and has no chemistry with anybody. I don't understand the holdup when it comes to adding Carlton to contract and pairing him with Nicole. He is a strong actor and has good chemistry with Nicole. I need them to stop these rare appearances for him and commit.

B&B: From Television City to Sunset Las Palmas Studios
After BTG, I don't wanna get my hopes up too much about the studio. I looked at their website and most of the soundstages are bigger and they have exterior locations but I don't expect B&B to use them. At best we might get to see a couple more sets but the stories are so limited they really don't even need that. I'd expect B&B to be exactly the same with the move.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
This was another good episode. I feel like just as we complain about something, it's addressed on the show. In this case, not mentioning Chelsea and Kat's business. I also love the idea of moving into Dani's guest house. I'm not a fan of how separated everybody is and it'll be nice to have more people using that set. I've grown to find Chelsea really charming as time goes on. She's a bit of a dingbat but she has a good heart. She reminds me a lot of Carmel from Hollyoaks. I hope this relationship with Dr. Montgomery is a real thing and not just a temporary story. The actress is good, their chemistry is nice and I'm all for beefing up the hospital. I don't care for the Laura/Eva scenes but I did love the Leslie/Eva scenes. I had a feeling Kat's planted evidence wouldn't work and we already got the signs of that today. As always, they're keeping me on my toes and I have no idea where they're going with this. The Dani/Nicole scenes today I found fun. I love how different Nicole and Dani are and how different there relationship is compared to the tenderness Dani shows her daughters.

BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
Something that I love about Dani is that despite her issues with Bill, she's always encouraged her daughters to have a relationship with him. I also believe that she does have a great amount of love for him which is why she is so hurt that he's sick. I've loved them including her in his recovery. It feels real and their chemistry is just insane so any chance for more of it is welcomed. That would be the perfect karma. Kat needs to learn boundaries and not be so impulsive, but I still feel like the Duprees are going to clear Leslie. How? I don't know, but that's what I think is going to happen. I feel like she'll get some kind of blackmail over them which will cause them to clear the slate. Of course the show never goes where you expect so I'm sure they'll do something different but I'm definitely curious how she will manage this.

Falcon Crest
@soapfan770Thank you so much for posting that! I know the final season of Falcon Crest is controversial but I thought it was a fantastic swing that mostly worked. The only thing that would've made it better is if they had more money which hopefully could've kept Emma full season. I feel like that was her strongest arc since season one and I wish she had remained so we could've seen her as a mother. I also wish they had more Angela but that was obviously out of their control. As different as it was, I felt season 9 to be very true to the initial gothic roots of the series.
