ARTICLE: The National Academy of Television & Sciences Announces New Daytime Emmy Awards Category: Emerging Talent
I see it as the Best New Artist award like the Grammys. You can submit up to three times until you "breakout." This is like that, but limits you to two years from your speaking role. Also could be called "Breakout Star" or something. I think they should have just called it Outstanding Performance by a Newcomer or something.

ARTICLE: Tajh Bellow Breaks Silence, Teases Update on ‘General Hospital’ Status
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, “General Hospital” star Tajh Bellow (TJ Ashford) looked back on an emotional year in which his character has been through a trying period of his life, particularly the loss of a child, as his daughter with Molly (Kristen Vaganos) sadly passed away following a traumatic accident involving their surrogate, Molly’s sister, Kristina (Kate Mansi), that later caused an initial rift in TJ and Molly’s relationship. “What a year we had,” opened Bellow in his post, which included a collage of images highlighting key moments from last year. “Playing Dr. TJ Ashford has been a groundbreaking experience for my career. Pouring into TJ as he poured into me has been illuminating in many regards.” http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/174911_0392-1024x683.jpg Bahareh Ritter/Disney Bellow also acknowledged several media outlets that have extensively covered his daytime career since making his debut on the series in 2018, including Soap Opera Network. He said, “I want to acknowledge and thank these great sources … that have credited me with honorable placement amongst my peers over the course of 2024. Grieving such immense loss took everything in me and I’m blessed that my work resonated with you all.” http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/174911_0492-1024x683.jpg Vernee Watson, Tajh Bellow Bahareh Ritter/Disney Closing out his post, Bellow indicated that he’ll speak on his status with the series at another time, stating, “I know a lot of my fans are wondering what’s next for TJ, but before I speak to that I wanted to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together. I’m excited for this years EMMY AWARDS!” Last seen on the series in episodes aired in December 2024, Bellow was upped to contract status with the soap back in February 2022. The TJ character was first introduced in 2012 and was briefly portrayed by Krys Meyer. He was replaced by Tequan Richmond (“Everybody Hates Chris”) from 2012-2018. Prior to being cast as TJ, Bellow appeared in episodes of “The Middle,” “Girl Meets World,” “K.C. Undercover,” “Bosch,” and “Bunk’d,” among others. More recently he made appearances in such shows as “NCIS” and “9-1-1: Lone Star.” Check out Bellow’s Instagram post below. ARTICLE: The National Academy of Television & Sciences Announces New Daytime Emmy Awards Category: Emerging Talent
Although the organization retired its Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series category in 2023, after years of reducing age requirements for eligibility, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the organization behind the Daytime Emmy Awards, announced on Tuesday that it will be introducing a new category that could see a wide variety of talented individuals vying for the statuette when it is handed out in October. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences In an interview with TV Insider, Rachel Schwartz, the woman overseeing the Daytime Emmys and the Children & Family Emmy Awards for NATAS, revealed the new category will be called Emerging Talent, and will award those individuals “who are on their first daytime contract, so there is not necessarily an age parameter with it.” While she expects younger actors in particular to stand out among the nominees list when the time comes for its introduction, she notes that the category does have some limitations, particularly how often one can be nominated. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/Rachel-Schwartz-NATAS-1024x576.jpgRachel Schwartz Sonja Flemming/CBS “There will be a limitation that you can enter the category for the first 2 years that you are on the program, and then at that point you’re no longer going to be considered ‘emerging,’ and you also, if you win the category, then you can no longer enter it as well,” said Schwartz. Although she referenced an actor being on contract previously, Schwartz later clarified that one doesn’t necessarily have to be on contract with the show at any point to be eligible for the nomination, they just have to have a speaking role within the time frame outlined. “You need to have a speaking role and you need to have at least one continuous story arc in order to be eligible for this new category,” Schwartz pointed out while adding that one must not have been on their respective show for more than two years to be eligible. Otherwise, they can submit themselves for entry in the lead or supporting categories. As for an update on “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” which will take place in October going forward after the organization moved its News & Documentary Emmy Awards to the June slot, Schwartz shared that currently there is no broadcast partner for the awards show with the CBS contract expiring last year. From 2020-2024, CBS aired the Daytime Emmys exclusively on its network, marking the 18th time overall it had carried the awards show, the most of any network. I'm not saying CHCH isn't airing Beyond the Gates. I'm just saying that it's not the be-all-end-all of the show airing in Canada as has been implied in other articles -- not anyone here. The CHCH promo referenced above is the same CBS promo that aired in the U.S. but with CHCH lettering and graphics. If CHCH ends up being the only broadcaster that will be highly unexpected and disappointing, but I can't imagine that being the case in the end. By the time CBS dropped The Talk and greenlit BTG, I believe Global was airing the daytime talk show, so I expect the same network to carry BTG. But we shall see.

(update): I should have said, "on a station's TV listings." My prior use of the word "small" wasn't intended to devalue the worth of the station in question. No worries. I wasn't mad at you or anyone here, or anyone in general. Just pointing out that articles referencing CHCH are not accurate.

I'm going to say it one last time: There is NO OFFICIAL word on where Beyond the Gates will air in other countries, particularly Canada. Any current reporting stating otherwise is inaccurate or speculative. I have been assured that the official information will be released this week via press release. Yeah, I wish it was already known, but all articles and reports on the matter are currently speculative based on a small station's TV listings.

ARTICLE: Charlie Besso Cast As Tobias On ‘General Hospital’
Daytime newcomer Charlie Besso has been cast as Tobias on “General Hospital,” Soap Opera Network can confirm. He first airs on the Tuesday, February 18 episode of the daytime drama series. The character was first referenced in the December 20, 2023 episode, wherein Aiden (then played by Enzo De Angelis), came out to his mother, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), for the first time as they prepared a Christmas meal together and Aiden reveled in his passion for culinary arts. In Tuesday’s episode, which sees Port Charles celebrating Valentine’s Day, Aiden (Colin Cassidy) introduces Tobias to his parents as the young couple prepare to go skating together. The episode also sees former “Days of our Lives” star Guy Wilson (ex-Will Horton) temporarily appearing as Lucky Spencer, Aiden’s father, on the soap. http://www.soapoperanetwork.com/media/2025/02/Guy-Wilson-Jonathan-Jackson-General-Hospital-1024x576.jpg Guy Wilson, Jonathan Jackson Adam Hendershott; Christine Bartolucci/Disney Although there was no reason given for the sudden casting switch at press time, original portrayer Jonathan Jackson is already back taping at the series and will be on screen soon as Wilson is set to appear in just a handful of episodes. Note: The Valentine’s Day episode for “General Hospital” was pushed back due to a last-minute schedule change which saw the soap preempted on Tuesday, January 7 due to ABC News’ ongoing coverage of the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter. In 2022, Besso made his television debut in the Peacock original series “The Calling,” portraying Vincent Conte in the show’s first four episodes. Created by David E. Kelley (“L.A. Law,” “The Practice”), the series is about an NYPD detective on a spiritual mission to do justice who relies on his own belief in humanity as seemingly routine investigations turn upside down. The series starred Jeff Wilbusch, Juliana Canfield and Karen Robinson. More recently, Besso appeared in an episode of Prime Video’s mega-hit drama series “Fallout,” based on the video game series, and the recently wrapped second season of Netflix’s “The Night Agent.” The 22-year-old Besso also appeared in three episodes of ABC’s “Will Trent,” playing a character named Joey. In addition to acting, Besso is an accomplished singer, having amassed thousands of loyal monthly listeners of his music on Spotify. Listen to some of his songs below, including his big hit, “Angel Face Disaster.” Note: The post Charlie Besso Cast As Tobias On ‘General Hospital’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. Call it nepotism, or whatever, but there are two (of many) reasons why Jon has this role: Like Michael Park ("As The World Turns"), Jon Lindstrom is a recognizable face who has appeared in numerous political dramas and suspense thrillers dealing with the mob, bad guys and immoral people. None of which describes Jon himself, but he is an immense talent that any show would love to have available to them. Long time friends with the show's creator, head writer, executive producer and showrunner, who has fought on behalf of and spearheaded her work as long as time has existed.

Please stop taking someone's opinion and creating any form of animosity. I'm not here for infighting. There is no reason for it as words can be misconstrued. There's nothing wrong with not liking a show, and there's nothing wrong with using phrases that might be misconceived as hate or dislike. Think nothing more into one's words. You might be wrong, or even right... but it is THEIR opinion!
