  9. Marking the first-ever recasting for the daytime drama series, actor Maurice Johnson is exiting the role of Dr. Ted Richardson on “Beyond the Gates” with daytime newcomer Keith D. Robinson taking over the contract role beginning with episodes set to air in May. On the series, Ted Richardson is the husband of Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnée Duplaix), the eldest daughter of Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie), and father to Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Kat (Colby Muhammad). Maurice Johnson Quantrell Colbert/CBS Ted is a brilliant plastic surgeon with an ultra-exclusive private practice and women clamor to put their faces and bodies in what they call his blessed hands. Ted has created an impeccable life with his wife – whom he loves passionately – and sleeps well at night, secure that his past will never disrupt his perfect world. However, in recent episodes, that perfect world has in fact been disrupted with the revelation that he may have fathered another child, a daughter named Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle), from a prior relationship. No reason has been cited for why the show opted to recast. In fact, even as recently as last night (Thursday, March 20), Johnson had been one of the show’s most socially engaged cast members, commenting on posts about the soap opera, his character, and praising his fellow co-stars. In response to a post on X (formerly Twitter), Johnson “hearted” a post by a user who declared the Nicole character as one they would “defend till the end of time.” A final airdate for Johnson and an official first airdate for Robinson was unavailable at press time. Before joining “Beyond the Gates,” Robinson had more than 75 television and movie credits to his name, including a starring role in the early 2000s playing the Green Lightspeed Ranger (Joel Rawlings) in “Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue.” He also had roles on “ER,” “American Dreams,” “Over There,” “Half & Half,” “Canterbury’s Law,” “Monk,” “NCIS,” “Major Crimes,” “Saints & Sinners,” and more recently “A Million Little Things,” among other television roles. 15. Mark Dobies, an actor best known for his portrayal as Dr. Noah Chase on “Guiding Light” and District Attorney Daniel Colson on “One Life to Live,” has died. He was just 65 years old. Born Mark Steven Dobies on April 3, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the late actor passed away on Tuesday, March 11 in Dunellan, New Jersey, although no official cause of death was announced. An obituary posted on the Apyre National Cremation Services website notes Dobies was a “loving father, accomplished athlete, and talented actor.” During his school days, Dobies earned a football scholarship to attend Delaware Valley University (then Delaware Valley College), where he and his teammates won the school its first Middle Atlantic Conference football championship in 1980. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from the school, and later a Master of Science from Easter College, with certifications in weight management and a senior population specialist. Throughout his life, Dobies was a personal trainer, where he eventually became a fitness, health and wellness consultant, competed in triathlons, worked as a lifeguard for the Ocean City Beach Patrol in Ocean City, New Jersey, and was an avid player of several sports including baseball, basketball, tennis, track and scuba, among others. He also appeared on the September 1994 cover of Men’s Health and IN NY magazine, both of which highlighted his dynamic fitness routines, plus his fitness brand Mark Dobies Fitness. Outside of sports and wellness, Dobies had a passion for the arts, appearing in movies, television shows, and theater productions, particularly having memorable roles on the aforementioned CBS and ABC soap operas, as well as his run as Bruce Niles in the 2004 Off-Broadway revival of Larry Kramer’s “The Normal Heart,” which told the story of the pain and frustration felt by its characters dealing with the devastation of the AIDS crisis. In the play, which received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Revival of a Play and four Drama League nominations, including one for Distinguished Revival of a Play, Dobies portrayed a still closeted bank executive who wouldn’t risk his high-level job by revealing his sexuality. The revival also featured the likes of Raul Esparza (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as the main character Ned Weeks, Billy Warlock (“Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital”) as Ned’s journalist lover, and Richard Bekins as Ned’s successful older brother, Ben, among others. The production had 13 previews and 63 performances before it closed on June 29, 2004. The late actor’s credits also include roles in such shows as “Melrose Place,” “Just Shoot Me!” “Nash Bridges,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “CSI: Miami,” “Fringe” and “Gossip Girl,” among others. In 2005, Dobies appeared as D.A. Daniel Colson on both “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” with the two soaps seeing a significant rise in the ratings as part of an ongoing crossover storyline. During that time, the character was married to Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith), who later found out he had been cheating on her with another man, Mark Solomon (Matt Cavenaugh). However, before that, Daniel turned to murder to keep his secret from those close to them, including the killing of Paul Cramer (David Tom). “I am so terribly sorry to hear this. Too young. Hard to believe,” said Dobies’ former “Guiding Light” co-star Beth Chamberlin (ex-Beth Raines) in response to a post on Facebook by former Procter & Gamble Productions publicist turned podcast host Alan Locher (“The Locher Room”). “I was lucky to work with Mark at ‘Guiding Light’ and always knew him as a genuinely good guy,” continued Locher in his post. “I also feel very lucky that I got to see his performance in ‘The Normal Heart.’ “I’ll never forget this small-world connection: When I started dating my now-husband Ray and we were going to meet his parents for the first time, their street name sounded so familiar to me. It turned out Mark and his family lived just down the road. His children and ex-wife, Linda, are still our neighbors today.” A father of three adult children, Francesca (27), Olivia (24), and Robert (21), Dobies is also survived by his mother, Suzanne, his brother, Paul, and his sister, Sandy. 16. Despite laying off about 200 employees earlier this month, ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic recently held a town hall at the network’s new headquarters in the Hudson Square section of New York City, assuring staffers that the network is sticking with “GMA3: What You Need to Know” despite sagging ratings and a depressed news market in the second age of President Donald J. Trump. “ABC News has no intention of doing away with ‘GMA3,’” a source is said to have told the New York Post, which first reported the news. “The hour is not going away, the show is not going away and the anchors aren’t going away.” “GMA3: What You Need to Know ABC News Anchored by Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan since 2023, following the controversial departures of former co-anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach, “GMA3” is often at or tied for last place in the key Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 sales demographics among all daytime broadcast shows, although it still manages to beat out the likes of “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” (formerly “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna”) and “NBC News Daily” among Total Viewers. Almin Karamehmedovic ABC News In an internal memo sent out following last week’s town hall meeting, and obtained by the Post, Karamehmedovic told staffers, “The entire industry has been challenged, and restructuring the way we operate has, unfortunately, had an impact on some of our colleagues.” He added, “As we look ahead, our mission is simple: straightforward journalism.” To help combat industry-wide challenges, the network merged all “Good Morning America” branded operations across all dayparts under the purview of the top-rated morning show’s executive producer, Simone Swink. Catherine McKenzie, who had been executive producer of “GMA3” since the current iteration’s debut in 2020, was among those cut. Overall, about 6% that also included Disney Entertainment Networks. Meanwhile, Seni Tienabeso was elevated to vice president of “ABC News Live,” the network’s 24/7 digital streaming news service, and structural changes were made to help consolidate the long-term content divisions that include ABC News Studios, “20/20,” “Nightline” and “Impact x Nightline,” among other programs, under one leadership umbrella. About 30 staffers were let go from ABC News Studios and its digital department, with consolidations seeing news gathering and various editorial teams working closer than before. Similarly, the data-driven news platform FiveThirtyEight was shuttered with all 15 employees working for the operation let go. During the hour-long meeting, Karamehmedovic also stated, “I have restructured the news division into three pillars to align with how audiences engage with us and how we can better serve them.” The reported “pillars” Karamehmedovic is said to have outlined include breaking news operations, the network’s signature news show “World News Tonight with David Muir” and long-form storytelling. “We were called to journalism because we believe in its value in society,” Deadline reported Karamehmedovic had written in his memo to staff, acknowledging tension in the industry amid the highly volatile political landscape across news media with a new administration now in place in Washington, D.C. “The role of an independent press is essential, and we cannot take this for granted. For 70 years, ABC News has delivered exceptional reporting, interviews and analysis — this is why audiences turn to us. We must continue to prove our value to protect our future. We must earn their trust every single day by providing straightforward journalism.” “Almin has devoted his career to ABC News, mastering every role and elevating excellence in journalism by connecting with viewers in a very meaningful and profound way that resonates with them,” said Debra OConnell, president, News Group and Networks, Disney Entertainment, to whom Karamehmedovic will continue to report, upon news of his taking over the role of ABC News president last summer. He officially replaced Kim Godwin after she was reportedly let go following her handling of the Holmes and Robach affair, among other reasons, which plagued the show at the time as headlines about their behind the scenes relationship got more coverage from other news outlets than even information reported on the daily news program could muster. Before taking on his current role, Karamehmedovic had overseen the production and all daily operations of “World News Tonight with David Muir,” the most-watched newscast in America across broadcast and cable, and often, the No. 1 program on all of television, since August 2014. In January 2022, News Content Development, including short- and long-form projects on streaming and broadcast, was added to his purview as his role expanded from executive producer to senior executive producer. ABC News “World News Tonight with David Muir” continues to rank as the No. 1 evening newscast in Total Viewers and also ranks No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49, the key sales demographics used for network news programming. Launched in September 2018 as “GMA Day” following the network’s cancellation of “The Chew,” the daytime news show was originally hosted by Michael Strahan and Sara Haines before it was later retooled and rebranded as “GMA3: Strahan & Sara,” formally referencing itself as a third-hour of “Good Morning America” while putting more emphasis on its co-hosts. By August 2019, actress and singer Keke Palmer had quickly become a fan favorite following her brief time filling in for Haines who had been on maternity leave. As such, Palmer was made a full-time co-host of the program to reward her contribution, with the show again rebranded to “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke.” Sadly, with the emergence of Covid, production on the show was “temporarily suspended” in the spring of 2020, replaced by “Pandemic: What You Need to Know,” anchored by Amy Robach. With the success of the straight news format, “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke” was quietly canceled, with Haines returning full-time to “The View” and Strahan returning full-time to “Good Morning America,” as the show was permanently replaced by the rebranded “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” debuting in June 2010. By September 2010, T.J. Holmes was named co-anchor of the program working alongside Robach and then medical contributor Dr. Jennifer Ashton. So far this season, “GMA3” is averaging 1.402 million viewers, topping both “NBC News Daily” and the since canceled “The Talk,” each averaging just 1.240 million viewers. Meanwhile, the ABC News program is up a mere +6% over last season’s average among Women 18-49 viewers (106,000 vs. 100,000). During the week of March 10-14, 2025, the most recent week in which ratings data is available, the show averaged 1.330 million viewers with 93,000 of them falling in the Women 18-49 demo. Comparatively, “NBC News Daily” averaged 1.138 million viewers, but pulled in 103,000 viewers among Women 18-49, and also 146,000 among Women 25-54, topping “GMA3” among both metrics. 22. Donna, You're assumption about a character's history, particularly their alleged involvement in abuse is fan speculation and is not based in fact. You are entitled to your opinion, and so are others. Unlike the other four soaps, those who might claim to have inside info about Beyond the Gates or spoilers relating to the show are liars as the show does not have leaks like the other four do, which proves even more that there is no indication of what you are assessing as a character trait for Bill Hamilton character.
  23. The third and final season of “Bosch: Legacy,” featuring 10 all-new episodes of the hit series, is set to release Thursday, March 27 on Prime Video, and will see ‘The Young and the Restless” alum Miles Gaston Villanueva (ex-Luca Santori) joining the cast as Det. Perry Lopez. According to a description released by Variety, the character is a native Angeleno with a background in working gang murders in South Los Angeles. Recently elevated to the LAPD’s elite Robbery Homicide Division (RHD), and eager to make a name for himself, Lopez is partnered with the seasoned Det. Jimmy Robertson (Paul Calderon) as they are tasked to investigate Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) in a possible murder-for-hire case. From September 16, 2015-September 9, 2016, Villanueva portrayed Luca Santori on “The Young and the Restless,” the estranged husband of Marisa Sierras (Sofia Pernas). The character was described as a charming and mysterious Spanish prince from a wealthy family. Since exiting “The Young and the Restless,” Villanueva has gone on to appear in such shows as “Jane the Virgin,” “Rosewood,” “The Fosters,” and “For The People.” He also had a starring role in the limited series “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders,” focusing on the Menendez brothers and the murder of their parents. He portrayed the elder brother, Lyle Menendez. In 2019, Villanueva was cast as Dr. Alec Shaw on “The Resident,” and later played the role of Owen over seven episodes of “Nancy Drew.” By 2022, Villanueva appeared as Supersonic, one of the newest members of The Seven, in at least four episodes of Prime Video’s “The Boys.” In season three of “Bosch: Legacy,” which is based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling novels “Desert Star” (2022) and “The Black Ice” (1993), an investigation into the murder of Kurt Dockweiler (David Denman) brings dangerous secrets to light and threatens to ruin the lives of our three principal characters. Also, the disappearance of a family haunts Harry Bosch, forcing him to confront the limits of justice. In a hotly contested race, Honey “Money” Chandler (Mimi Rogers), an attorney who struggles to maintain her faith in the justice system, is poised to become the next District Attorney of Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz) gets entangled in a series of violent follow-home robberies as she wrestles with the challenges of being a patrol cop on the streets of Los Angeles. “Bosch: Legacy” is a spinoff of “Bosch,” the then Amazon Prime Video original that ran for seven seasons from 2014-2021, marking a key milestone for the streamer as its longest-running series to date. The spinoff was originally set to launch on IMDb TV, Amazon’s FAST (free ad-supported television) service before being rebranded to Amazon Freevee. The first season launched on May 6, 2022, while season two premiered on October 20, 2023, and saw episodes available on both Amazon Freevee and Prime Video. Last fall, Amazon announced that it would discontinue Amazon Freevee and that all its content would be available on Prime Video at no cost for non-subscribers.
