  1. Long before joining the cast of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” actor Sean Kanan portrayed Mike Barnes in the 1989 film “The Karate Kid Part III,” which is where he learned about the art of Cobra Kai. With several cast members from the movie and its previous iterations already returning for the Netflix series aptly titled “Cobra Kai,” which now has four seasons under its belt and is expected to release its already filmed fifth season later this year, fans have been wondering if they’ll ever Kanan back in that world. While it’s yet to be confirmed whether the actor will be appearing in the aforementioned fifth season or any future seasons of the show should it get renewed by the streaming giant, one thing is certain: “The Bold and the Beautiful” has all the action you’ll need. In today’s episode of the daytime drama series, Kanan’s Deacon Sharpe goes fist to fist against rival Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) who is out for revenge after learning that his wife, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), shared a kiss with her former lover on New Year’s Eve and that the two slept together – albeit in the literal sense and not the sexual kind (he does not know that though). Teasing what’s to come in today’s episode, Kanan recently said on Instagram, “ATTENTION COBRAS! You know me as Karate’s Bad Boy Mike Barnes but check me out as ‘Deacon Sharpe’ this Monday 12pm pacific 1:30 Eastern time on ‘The Bold and the Beautifu’l on CBS when the punches and kicks will be flying!” Earlier this morning he added, “The talking is over. Don’t miss the big fight between Deacon and Ridge today.” Check out some pics below from today’s episode and watch the show’s weekly promo to get yourself pumped for what’s about to go down. 2. As shown in the latest promo featuring the returns of Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker), actor Greg Rikaart is also set to reprise his role as Leo Stark on “Days of our Lives” when the soap returns from its Winter Olympics hiatus in the weeks ahead. While we can’t say at this time who or what Leo is involved in, nor why Will and Sonny are invested in taking him down, we can say that viewers will be in for a fun journey as his storyline does tie into what’s occurring currently on the show, albeit what’s aired prior to the on-air hiatus. In the meantime, as shown in the promo, Will and Sonny ask their good friend Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) for his help. “We have to understand this guy’s weaknesses if we’re going to exploit them,” Sonny says to Chad of Leo. Later, a shocked Chad yells, “I thought we were friends!” In a tweet, Rikaart commented, “Oh how you tease, Chadwick. I’m so excited for Leo’s return to Salem. Great stuff ahead!” Watch the promo below. Note: The post Greg Rikaart Back to ‘Days of our Lives’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. Read More
  3. Get ready to see a lot more of TJ Ashford on “General Hospital” now that portrayer Tajh Bellow has been upped to contract status with the daytime drama series. Bellow, who first appeared on the soap in November 2018 in a recurring capacity, replaced Tequan Richmond (“Everybody Hates Chris”) in the role. According to the show’s weekly credits list which updates every Friday, Bellow is the most recent contract actor, effective February 11, following the return of Kristina Wagner (Felicia Scorpio) who came back to the soap in a contract capacity in early January. Prior to being cast as TJ, Bellow appeared in episodes of “The Middle,” “Girl Meets World,” “K.C. Undercover,” “Bosch,” and “Bunk’d,” among others. More recently he appeared on “NCIS” and “9-1-1: Lone Star.” When pressed for comment by ABC, we were reminded that the network does not comment on actor contracts. 5. “General Hospital” actress Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore) announced on Instagram yesterday that she is now officially a citizen of the United States of America. In a post, Mattsson said, “So honored and proud to have become a US Citizen today!!! I’m so grateful to this country for all the opportunities I’ve been given and for helping me make my dreams come true!” Several of Mattsson’s “General Hospital” co-stars chimed in with messages of congratulations, including Cassandra James (Terry), Kathleen Gati (Liesl), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), and on-screen husband Johnny Wactor (Brando). “The Young and the Restless” star Courtney Hope (Sally) and even former soaper Kayla Ewell (ex-Caitlin, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) also congratulated Mattsson. “Congratulations! I got mine in 2001. It’s a great feeling!!” said Gati. “[The] USA is lucky to have you!!!” wrote Stuart. Congratulations!! We’re proud to have you!!” commented Ewell. Born in Stockholm, Sweden along with sisters, Mia and Helena, Sofia Mattsson gave birth to her first child with actor/writer/producer husband Thomas Payton last year. “He joined us on 7/26/21 and stole my heart completely!!” she shared on Instagram following the news of their son’s birth. 6. “Days of our Lives” will soon welcome Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis back to the canvas when the show returns from its Winter Olympics hiatus beginning Monday, February 21, it was revealed on Friday via a promo featuring actor Billy Flynn as he teases what’s to come with his character, Chad DiMera, in the near future. In the promo posted across the show’s social channels, Flynn is shown in character standing on the set of the DiMera mansion as he speaks to the camera (“Days of our Lives” viewers), saying, “Okay, good news, bad news time. The good news… two of my closest friends are coming home to Salem.” A clip is then shown of Chad hugging Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Zach Tinker) who are back in town after spending the better part of more than a year living in Arizona. Shortly afterward, Flynn as Chad then reveals the not-so-great part. “The bad news? Leo Stark!” Yes, the bad boy played by Greg Rikaart who has been meddling in Will and Sonny’s lives for an extended period of time is also back in town and he’s got some ulterior motives, which is why Will and Sonny need Chad’s help. “We have to understand this guy’s weaknesses if we’re going to exploit them,” Sonny tells Chad about how they’re going to take down their nemesis. Later, a shocked Chad is shown telling the two, “I thought we were friends!” So, what’s Leo up to now, and why do Will and Sonny seem to care so much? And what did they tell Chad that made him so upset? Just like you, we can’t wait to find out! Check out the promo below. Will and Sonny’s return to Salem will mark the first time since September 2020 that either character will have returned for more than a single episode, in person, virtually or otherwise, on the mothership series outside of the 2021 release of “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem,” the limited series spinoff now streaming on Peacock, and its follow-up movie, “Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas.” Three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner Chandler Massey reprises the role of Will Horton on “Days of our Lives” for the first time since appearing in scenes aired during Christmas 2020 while Zach Tinker will make his “Days of our Lives” debut as Sonny Kiriakis. The role was previously portrayed by Daytime Emmy Award winner Freddie Smith, who last appeared as the character in a virtual setting in scenes aired in December 2020. With Smith and his wife deciding to move to Florida, Smith declined to return for “Beyond Salem” when contacted by producers, forcing them to recast. Since then, Tinker’s take on the character has been well received by the show’s fans, particular fans of WilSon (combo name for Will and Sonny). “Hi did you miss us?” wrote Tinker on Twitter following the revelation he was joining “DAYS” after his previous stints on “Beyond Salem” and “A Very Salem Christmas.” Note: The post Chandler Massey and Zach Tinker to Reprise ‘Beyond Salem’ Characters on ‘Days of our Lives’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 7. @janea4old So I was able to confirm that both pacific and mountain markets will be impacted, with a good majority not airing either series except possibly over night or in the rare occasion where a show is slotted earlier (as noted above about Y&R) than the CBS broadcast. Essentially, CBS will still air all shows (except The Talk) on the east coast as usual, and markets impacted will get to watch on the CBS App, CBS.com, or Paramount+. CBS To Preempt ‘The Bold And The Beautiful,’ ‘The Young And The Restless’ And ‘The Talk’ For ‘UEFA Champions League’ Coverage https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2022/02/cbs-the-bold-and-the-beautiful-the-young-and-the-restless-the-talk-uefa-champions-league

With CBS airing “UEFA Champions League” games over six nonconsecutive days starting Tuesday, February 15, daytime soaps “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” will be preempted in full or air overnight on stations in the mountain and pacific markets, Soap Opera Network has confirmed. Neither soap is expected to be interrupted on the east coast. Courtesy of CBS “UEFA Champions League” games will begin at 3:00 p.m. ET on CBS and via streaming service Paramount+ with each showing different teams playing in the competition. A pre-game show, “UEFA Champions League Today,” will air at 2:00 p.m. ET in place of “The Talk” which will be fully preempted. “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right” will not be impacted in markets that air the game shows as a pair in the mornings. However, “Let’s Make a Deal” will be preempted in markets where it is scheduled to air after “The Talk.” What follows is a list of dates CBS daytime programming will be preempted or aired overnight in the mountain and pacific markets (check local listings). Tuesday, February 15Wednesday, February 16Tuesday, February 22Wednesday, February 23Tuesday, March 8Wednesday, March 9 As always, viewers living in markets impacted by the preemptions can keep up with the latest episodes which will be made available on the CBS App, CBS.com, and Paramount+. 9. Paramount+ is placing its bets on “The Game,” granting the reboot of the popular series with a second season. Stars Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Adriyan Rae, Vaughn Hebron, Analisa Velez and Toby Sandeman are all expected to return. In the reboot, viewers are provided with a modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football. While the team tackles racism, sexism, classism and more as they fight for fame, fortune, respect and love, at its core they work to maintain their souls all while they each play the game. “With ample humor and heart, Devon Greggory reimagined an iconic series, brought back beloved legacy characters and introduced new fan favorites,” said Nicole Clemens, President, Paramount+ Original Scripted Series, in a statement. “As Tasha Mack says, ‘game recognizes game,’ and audiences continue to discover the series on Paramount+. We look forward to what Devon and his team have in store for us next season on and off the field.” “The Game” is executive produced by showrunner and writer Devon Greggory, original show creator Mara Brock Akil, Salim Akil, and original executive producer Kelsey Grammer and Tom Russo of Grammnet NH Productions. The series is produced by CBS Studios, Inphiniti Entertainment, Akil Productions and Grammnet NH Productions. In addition to the 10-episode first season of the reboot, all previous seasons of the original series which aired on The CW and BET are available to binge on Paramount+. Internationally, the series is distributed by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group. No word yet on when the new season will debut. 10. Marg Helgenberger (ex-Siobhan, “Ryan’s Hope”) is set to reprise her role as Catherine Willows in season two of CBS’ “CSI: Vegas,” it was announced this morning. She’ll reportedly be a series regular, signing a one-year deal with CBS Studios, similar to fellow “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” alums William Petersen and Jorja Fox who returned during the new iteration’s 10-episode first season. In addition to “CSI: Vegas,” Helgenberger is also set to reprise her role as Judge Lisa Benner on “All Rise” when the series returns for its third season in June, this time on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. CBS canceled the courtroom drama, which also stars Wilson Bethel (ex-Ryder, “The Young and the Restless”), citing low ratings. 11. Kirsten Storms, Wes Ramsey (“General Hospital”) Photo by Craig Sjodin/ABC Could it be true? Will “General Hospital” viewers finally get to see Peter August (Wes Ramsey) pay for his crimes? A teaser published in the latest issue of TV Guide Magazine, on newsstands now, seems to indicate that the character could finally get what’s coming to him on Tuesday, February 22. Highlighted as a “Daytime Pick,” the magazine states, “Can anything or anyone stop Peter August (Wes Ramsey) from terrorizing distraught ex Maxie (Kirsten Storms), their baby Louise and all of Port Charles? Today, he may finally get his comeuppance.” While the magazine doesn’t reveal whether Peter will live, die or truly go to prison for everything he’s done, one thing is certain: we’re mostly in the endgame portion of this years-long storyline arc. We could also be at the beginning of a new phase should history repeat itself. Last June, when it seemed that Peter had died following a fall down the stairs at General Hospital and his body locked away in a freezer, Deadline reported (via Soap Opera Digest) that Ramsey had been confirmed to have left the series. The actor returned two months later with the character being revealed to be very much alive weeks after his body was discovered missing by Finn (Michael Easton) and Anna (Finola Hughes). Alternatively, savvy fans who pay attention to the show’s weekly end credits that highlight contract and recurring cast noticed that Ramsey’s name didn’t appear in either section based on the most recent listing (Friday, February 4). One week earlier (Friday, January 28), Ramsey was listed as a contract player. This seemingly gives credence to the possibility that the actor’s run on the soap is about to come to an end. Reps for “General Hospital” did not return a request for comment by Soap Opera Network. The network traditionally does not comment on actor contracts. In recent episodes, Peter discovered that Louise was in town all along right under everyone’s nose and took her from the Quartermaines with plans to flee town. On the Wednesday, February 9 episode (click here to watch a clip), Maxie was given an ultimatum by Peter. He told her, “If you want to see our daughter it’s going to be on my terms now. I’m leaving the country with Louise, Maxie. I want you to say goodbye to her here and now, knowing you will never see her again, or, you come with us and we’ll be a family forever.” Of course, Maxie would do anything for her daughter and agreed to go with Peter, except they’d have to leave Louise behind. “I’ll go with you, Peter, whatever, tonight, right now… but if you love our daughter as much as you say you do you’ll understand why we have to leave her behind.” A distraught Peter responded to Maxie, telling her, “I don’t understand! Leave Louise? After I spent a year trying to find her, searching for… risking my life to find her, to be with her.” He later asks Maxie why she’s doing this, making him give up his daughter. Maxie lays out solid reasons to Peter, albeit with ulterior motives. In the end, Peter agreed to leave Louise behind with a plan to have her found by the local fire department. Later, Anna and Chase (Josh Swickard) come upon Louise after they get a call from a firefighter about a found baby girl. Anna deduces Maxie was able to convince Peter to leave Louise behind but is worried about the two’s whereabouts, hoping to catch Peter before Maxie disappears forever. Watch a clip from the Thursday, February 10 episode where more people learn that Bailey is really Louise. Read More
  12. There's no preemption I'm aware of in place for Y&R next week at the moment so it most likely won't be impactful. Will look into seeing if anything has changed, and will look into the future dates. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. On Tuesday, February 8, “General Hospital” icon Genie Francis was honored with an on-set celebration marking 45 years since her debut as Laura Spencer Collins on the daytime drama series. She was joined by several of her co-stars, including on-screen husband Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins) and the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, among others. “Port Charles would not be the same without her or the legacy of Laura Collins,” noted Valentini on Twitter of Francis as he shared a posed photo of the two together. “I am so fortunate to work with you and this amazing @GeneralHospital cast and crew!” stated Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe). “Thank you for paving the way & 4 all you have done for Daytime Television!!” Newcomer Avery Pohl (Esme Prince) said, “[Genie Francis] may just be one of the kindest, most professional, and [the] hardest working person I’ve ever met!!! Really an honor to get to watch you work.” “So happy and honored to celebrate this special milestone in the career of one of our finest!” added Charles Shaughnessy (Victor Cassadine). “Today is one for the history books. @GenieFrancis joined the cast on this day in 1977 and we will forever be in her debt. Happy Anniversary, Genie!” read a message across the show’s social channels. Marcus Coloma (Nikolas Cassadine) stated, “What an incredible milestone!!! Love working with you.” “Thank you @valentinifrank and @GeneralHospital for remembering! It doesn’t feel like forty-five years. Hard to believe. I am truly blessed,” said Francis in a post on Twitter thanking everyone for their support. Not one to miss out on the celebration, Francis’ real-life husband, Jonathan Frakes (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”) remarked, “My favorite actor and my favorite wife! Congratulations @GenieFrancis.” For the on-set celebration, balloons with the “General Hospital” logo were ordered along with balloons when put together made up the number 45. 14. Sherri Shepherd is said to be closing a deal to become the permanent guest co-host of “The Wendy Williams Show,” which could also lead to her being named as a permanent replacement for health stricken Wendy Williams as producers mull renaming the show altogether effective September. According to TMZ, which first reported the news, “Sherri Shepherd will take the reigns of the show beginning in September. Our sources say the deal is almost locked, and everyone involved expects it will be inked in the very near future.” The outlet also noted, “The folks who produce the show will be monitoring Wendy’s progress between now and September. If Wendy gets better, there’s an open door for her to return. If, however, it appears she is unable to return, then they would change the name of the show as early as September … which will mark the 15th season of the show.” Meanwhile, Deadline shares that Shepherd’s deal is for the permanent host gig, and not just the “permanent guest host” position TMZ reported. “The position she is closing in for is a permanent host, I hear,” Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva says. No stranger to daytime talk shows, Shepherd is best known for her stint co-hosting “The View.” She’s currently a featured talker on “Dish Nation.” Williams last hosted the talk show in July 2021 when it wrapped its 12th season. The expectation was the show would return with all-new episodes on September 20, 2021, but following news that the embattled talk show host had contracted COVID-19, production was pushed back. Since then it’s been said she had been dealing with “serious complications” from Graves Disease and a thyroid condition which she’s discussed on the show in the past. The season premiere kept getting pushed back until finally a roster of guest co-hosts was mapped out to keep the show going and the show’s staff employed. In addition to Shepherd, guest co-hosts have included the likes of Michael Rapaport, Leah Remini, Bill Bellamy, and Whitney Cummings, among others. For the season, “The Wendy Williams Show” ranks among the top 5 talk shows in daytime syndication. Debmar-Mercury has not responded to requests for comment. 15. Elaine Welteroth, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Amanda Kloots (“The Talk”) Photo by Randee St. Nicholas/CBS Less than a year since shaking up its panel of co-hosts, first with the departure of Sharon Osbourne, followed by the departure of Carrie Ann Inaba and the exit of Elaine Welteroth, it looks like CBS’ “The Talk” is finally hitting the right mark with viewers. During the week of January 31-February 4, 2022, the daytime talk show attracted its largest overall audience since the week of April 20–24, 2020, averaging 1.662 million viewers. Even before launching its 12th season in September, “The Talk” had been struggling to find an audience after virtually cleaning house with only Sheryl Underwood remaining in terms of veteran status (Underwood has been with the show since season two). In January 2021, Amanda Kloots joined the panel followed by Jerry O’Connell in July, Akbar Gbajabiamila in September, and lastly Natalie Morales in October. Four months since completing the new and improved roster of co-hosts, the show seems to have finally found an audience in recent weeks, as evidenced by the show’s performance among Total Viewers during the week of January 31-February 4, 2022. While it wasn’t enough to move the show out of last place in viewers, nor the key Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 sales demos, the show still saw marked improvement compared to one week earlier and the comparable week last year in viewers. Demographically, the show is virtually on par with one week earlier and the comparable week last year. See the chart below for a breakdown of the show’s performance during the week of January 31-February 4, 2022 compared to last week, the same week last year and the comparable week in 2020 among Total Viewers, Households, Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating. Note: Total Viewers and Households for “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” were not available at press time which currently skews the rankings in each category. Regardless, “The Talk” would rank 13th in both categories despite how the show is listed below and the Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of January 31-February 4, 2022 report. Demographically, the show is virtually on par with one week earlier and the comparable week last year. Airing just four episodes for the week before handing its slot to NBC’s coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, “Days of our Lives” rose week to week in both Women 18-49 rating (+0.02) and Women 25-54 rating (+0.04). The soap averaged 1.850 million viewers for the week, gaining +77,000 over one week earlier. In fact, the soap was up over its performance in 2021 (+68,000 viewers) and 2020 (+63,000 viewers). “Days of our Lives” returns with all-new episodes on Monday, February 21. RELATED | ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Teases What’s Coming Up Following Winter Olympics Hiatus – PROMO With the exception of “The View” and “The Talk” (not including either “TODAY” hours as their 2022 numbers are currently unavailable), all daytime broadcast shows gained viewers compared to their performance during the same week in 2020. Further, only “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The View” are down year to year, albeit a very small drop for the daytime drama series (-6,000 viewers). “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal” continue riding a wave with renewed interest. Broken into two parts, each half-hour of both series is for the most part up in viewers week to week, compared to last year and compared to their performances in 2020. The lone exception, however, was the first half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal” which lost viewers week to week, down a mere -5,000 viewers compared to one week earlier. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of January 31-February 4, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. 17. Actress and comedian Niecy Nash (“Reno 9-1-1,” “Claws”) is set to guest star in two embedded pilot episodes of “The Rookie” later this season. She will play Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy, similar to series star Nathan Fillion (“One Life to Live”) whose Officer John Nolan joined the LAPD later in life. Clark is described as a force of nature, the living embodiment of a dream deferred. With Nash’s casting, should the potential untitled spinoff get picked up to series by the network for next season, it’ll allow the franchise to expand beyond the Los Angeles Police Department and exist in the same universe, further allowing characters to move back and forth. This almost guarantees “The Rookie” will be back for a fifth season. The first episode involving Nash’s character finds Officer John Nolan and the LA division of the FBI enlisting the help of FBI trainee Simone Clark when one of her former students is suspected of terrorism following an explosion at a local power station. “I’m so excited to guest star on ‘The Rookie’ and bring Simone Clark to life! She is a spirited and spicy fish out of water,” said Nash in a statement. “The cast is amazing and I can’t wait to play!” Currently in its fourth season, “The Rookie” ranks as ABC’s fourth highest-rated drama series behind “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Station 19” and “The Good Doctor.” The series is averaging 9.3 million viewers after 35 days of viewing across all linear and digital platforms, lifting the series up +236% over its initial Live+Same Day average. In Adults 18-49, the show grows six times greater over its initial Live+Same Day rating with a life of +519% after 35 days of multiplatform viewing. [MP+35, 9/20-12/26/21]. 22. As previously reported, “Days of our Lives” is on hiatus now through Friday, February 18 so that NBC can broadcast the 2022 Winter Olympics from Beijing. Unlike the Summer Olympic games, which has routinely taken the daytime drama series off the air over the last couple of cycles, the Winter games have never caused an interruption in the show’s airing schedule until now, and that’s why head writer Ron Carlivati decided to publicly respond to viewer vitriol over the lack of any cliffhangers shown in the final episode aired before the hiatus – Thursday, February 3. “We did not know until well after these episodes were written and taped that we would be preempted for the Winter Olympics,” Carlivati said on Twitter yesterday in response to one viewer who made claims to the contrary. The poster had stated, “They do know. That’s why these huge cliffhangers use to happen all the time. #Days has always taped months in advance and was able to deliver huge cliffhangers. It just seemed to change with the change in writers.” Earlier, the same poster commented, “#Days use to leave us with huge cliffhangers right before Olympic break. The kind where you were on the edge of your seat waiting for it to come back on. The past two have just been blah.. Come on @carlivatiron I know you can do better!” They ended the post using the hashtags “disappointed” and “nothing exciting” to emphasize their point. With “Days of our Lives” filming six to seven months ahead of airdate at the time the episodes were taped, and still continuing to do so today, the show was not made aware of NBC’s decision on how and/or what times it would air the Olympics until after it was publicly announced in November of last year due to various factors, including COVID. Therefore, it’s clear that had the show been given more advanced notice viewers might have seen a lot more drama in the final episode aired before the break. However, this just means there will be lots of drama to come when the show returns with all-new episodes beginning Monday, February 21. 24. Cut for time. I thought I made it clear in the first sentence, lol.
  25. Usually, when a scene from a TV series or a movie is cut for time fans only get to see the missing clip when it’s part of a DVD/Blu-ray release of a film or a full season box set, and for the most part, neither of those opportunities are available when it comes to the daytime soaps. So, what a surprise it was when “Days of our Lives” released a deleted scene on Friday via its YouTube channel which features the characters John Black and Marlena Evans (Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall) having a conversation about recent events. Courtesy of NBC As you’ll recall, Marlena was possessed by the devil. After her family came together to help her overcome the devil’s hold, love won out and Marlena was saved as her son, Father Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), led the family in performing an exorcism. And with that, in our cut scene, Marlena speaks with John about how grateful she was to have her family around during her time of need to which John tells her, “Doc, you’ve been there for every single one of us. I think it was a perfect time for us to finally be there for you.” An emotional Marlena then talks about how Eric just recommitted his vows to the priesthood only to find his first act back was to help his mother. “You know, I think he is so at peace being a priest,” she says of her son. John and Marlena later discuss the news that EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was behind Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) kidnapping. “How could EJ dare to kidnap her and hide her away from her family, from her friends. Maybe this time, that man has gone too far,” Marlena says of her son-in-law. Too bad neither she, John nor most of Salem knows the truth – Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) was behind Sami’s kidnapping, not EJ – as John’s response is filled with a bit of irony. “I definitely know somebody who’s waiting in the wings,” John tells Marlena of Lucas. “He’s been pining away for Sami ever since the both of them came back here to Salem. Who knows, maybe he’ll get his wish and finally get her back for good.” Watch the scene below to see if the show made the right decision in placing it on the cutting room floor. Note: The scene above was originally cut from the Monday, January 3 episode.
