  1. “Days of our Lives” fans were shocked when the series killed off Abigail Deveraux DiMera in recent episodes, spurring a summer murder mystery storyline with several suspects in the running as the culprit, some more obvious than others. Following an interview with head writer Ron Carlivaiti last week where he explained the show’s reasoning for killing the character off, portrayer Marci Miller is now speaking out in a candid interview with Soap Opera Digest in the magazine’s newest issue, on newsstands now, where she shares why she decided to leave the series, what’s next for her and her career, and what she’ll miss the most. “I like to do other things,” Miller says to Digest. “I like to dabble in other things like films and play other characters. I’m not really at a point in my life where I’m ready to say, ‘Hey, I’m going to play Abby DiMera for 20 years, and that’s what I’m going to do.’ It’s really hard for the show to accommodate that and make space for that.” Revealing how she’s had to decline other acting opportunities due to being on contract at “DAYS,” Miller notes, “There were a couple of times last year where I was offered a couple of films that I’d auditioned for and unfortunately had to turn them down after I’d worked to get them because the show couldn’t accommodate.” She points out, “The show wasn’t doing anything wrong. You sign a contract, they buy your time, and that’s the gig. They’ve got things they need to do, too. Since I can’t make both [work] I have to pick and choose as I go through various chapters in my life. That was it. I was like, ‘Okay, I’ve got to go. It’s time to go do some other things for a while.” Miller offered to continue playing the character but only in a recurring capacity. “I was interested in and willing to recur and make space for that,” she states. “I don’t think they felt that was going to work for them. They couldn’t do the recurring thing with that particular character, and I think they felt like if they let me do it, they would have to let everybody do it. We tried to meet in the middle. They tried to give me options, but my team and agents didn’t dig it. So it was hard. We couldn’t find common ground that worked for both of us, unfortunately. We all wanted to.” As noted by Carlivati in conversation with Digest in a previous issue, the show needed an actress full-time and on contract for the role. Pointing out that with Miller unavailable, and previous portrayer Kate Mansi only willing to play the character part-time as well, the only option from the show’s perspective was to kill off the character. “Kate has been willing to come back, but may not necessarily want to come back on contract, so you risk being in the exact same position that then Kate leaves and what do we do?” questioned Carlivati. “Then the option would be to recast yet again with someone who maybe is willing to be here on a more permanent basis, but then you’re dealing with a new face. We’ve been very lucky in recasting Abigail, but you don’t always know if that’s going to work. So ultimately, we decided to kill the character.” While Miller would have preferred that the show recast instead, ultimately the decision was made and Miller played the character’s final moments alive. As word of the character’s demise trickled throughout the studio, some of Miller’s co-stars were shocked to learn what was about to happen on the show, including Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) who Miller says commented to her, “‘I feel like somebody really died here.’” Meanwhile, one of the things Miller will miss most is working alongside Billy Flynn who plays Abby’s husband, Chad DiMera. “I love to work with Billy; I expect to work with him for the rest of my life, whether it’s as Chad and Abby or somebody else.” Billy Flynn, Marci Miller (“Days of our Lives”) Photo by XJJohnson/JPI Studios To read more about what Miller has to say about her “Days of our Lives” exit, check out the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now. You can also hear her speak with the magazine’s editors in the latest edition of the “Dishing with Digest” podcast. This year, Miller is up for the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Abby. She was previously nominated in the same category in 2018 and 2019. 4. When Elizabeth became a patient of Shadybrook last month it resulted in less screen time for portrayer Rebecca Herbst on “General Hospital.” Since then, rumors have swirled online that Herbst had either been fired or is in the middle of intense contract negotiations with the daytime drama series, among other alleged reasons for her on-screen absence. In a tweet on Friday, Herbst shut down some of the speculations, stating that not only has she not been fired, but she also isn’t on vacation and she doesn’t have Covid. She says, “Well, hello there…just thought I’d shut down some rumors that have been circulating: I haven’t been fired. I’m not on vacation. I don’t have covid. My kids don’t keep me from working. Nor do I have cramps (the best one yet). I hope you all have a great weekend! XOXO” At press time, Herbst’s tweet has amassed over 1,400 likes, 220+ retweets and nearly 200 replies from fans. One user tweeted in response, “So you DID join the Space Force Reserve! (It’s like the Army Reserve, but for the Space Force. But then, you obviously already know that.)” That tweet generated a “rolling on the floor laughing” emoji response from Herbst. Prior to the Friday, June 17 tweet, the last time Herbst posted on the social media platform was in mid-May when she said, “I just finished reading all my sweet B-day wishes!! TY all so much for the beautiful flowers & dozens upon dozens of cupcakes I got to share with my GH family as well as my crew at home. And the #12DaysofBecky was a fun walk down memory lane…TY from the bottom of my heart.” Herbst celebrated her birthday on May 12. In addition to squashing the rumor mill herself, Herbst was part of the official cast photo which was taken during last month’s taping of the show’s 15,000th episode that is now currently scheduled to air on Tuesday, June 21 following Thursday’s national preemption. Herbst was also photographed alongside co-star Genie Francis whose character plays a central role in the special standalone episode’s overall plot when the town of Port Charles rallies around Laura Collins. 5. The original co-hosts of “The View” will be taking part in the Hulu Original “Behind The Table: A View Reunion,” which gives an insiders look from the Essex House hotel in New York City where current and original co-host Joy Behar, the show’s first moderator Meredith Vieira and original panelists Star Jones and Debbie Matenopoulos auditioned 25 years ago. The 30-minute special will stream exclusively on Hulu beginning Monday, June 20. Thanks to their contribution, “The View” has been dubbed “the most important political TV show in America” by The New York Times, and so the four women Barbara Walters chose to join her at the Hot Topics table in 1997 reunite for a candid conversation about the talk show that has been making headlines since Walters first uttered the phrase, “I had this idea for a show.” In the special, the ladies look back on what it was like to work with the legendary broadcaster, discuss some of their famous exits from the show and share their biggest regrets and the moments that bonded them behind the scenes. “This Is Us!!! So great having dinner and catching up with my very first TV sisters for @theviewabc 25th year reunion special shoot,” shared Matenopoulos on Instagram last month which included a photo of the group having dinner. “There can only ever be one first… and that was us! It’s like we hadn’t missed a beat. If you know…you know!!! Take a little time to enjoy THIS original View everyone!” In response, her former “Home & Family” co-host and current “General Hospital” cast member Cameron Mathison said, “This team … I remember being one of your first guests.” At the time Mathison worked across the hall at “All My Children” when it was common for soap actors to appear on the talk show. Currently in its 25th season, “The View” panel consists of Whoopi Goldberg, the aforementioned Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Ana Navarro. The series airs weekdays at 11:00 a.m ET on ABC. 6. Technically it's a standalone episode, but there have been some references in episodes leading up to it. Once the episode is over, however, the following episode gets things back to normal.
  7. Due to ABC News coverage of the House Select Committee’s public hearings on the January 6th Capitol Assault on Thursday, June 16, “General Hospital” did not air. As a result, the regularly scheduled episode of the daytime drama series will now air on Friday, June 17, which shifts episodes by a day for the foreseeable future, including the now two-time delayed special standalone episode which celebrates the show’s 15,000th episode. Originally scheduled to air on Friday, June 17 before being pushed back due to coverage of the Uvalde shooting last month in Texas, the episode was rescheduled to air on Monday, June 20. However, considering the next scheduled public hearing is set to take place on Tuesday, June 21 it’s likely that the episode will air on Wednesday, June 22 instead. Soap Opera Network will continue monitoring the situation for any scheduling updates as they become available. In an episode description released by the network for the 15,000th show, the town of Port Charles comes together when an unknown political force takes aim at beloved Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis). On the day of the taping, actor Jeff Kober was spotted in a cast photo which immediately had fans wondering if they could expect to see the return of Cyrus Renault, Laura’s brother, in Port Charles. Kober most recently appeared on the soap in December 2021 as the notorious drug runner who had numerous enemies in town, including Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). “It’ll be happy, sad, dark, scary, fun, thrilling [and] exciting, but most importantly it has almost every single cast member in it,” teased executive producer, Frank Valentini, of what viewers can expect during an interview with ABC7 (KABC) entertainment reporter George Pennacchio, who was on set for the taping. Another hearing by the House Select Committee is set for Thursday, June 23, and could cause additional preemptions for the series. The first hearing, aired in primetime, garnered an estimated 20 million viewers across 12 networks on Thursday, June 9. 9. Despite CBS airing news coverage on the House Select Committee’s public hearings on the January 6th Capitol Assault, “The Young and the Restless” aired at least half of today’s regularly scheduled all-new episode. As such, the full episode will be available to view on demand, the CBS App and Paramount+. In time zones where coverage was not impacted, the episode aired without interruption. Viewers looking forward to the special standalone episode honoring Eileen Davidson and Beth Maitland for their 40-year contribution to the series, playing sisters Ashley Abbott and Traci Abbott, respectively, can expect to see the episode air on Friday, June 17, Soap Opera Network can confirm. The episode was originally scheduled to air on Thursday, June 16 but was pushed back following Monday’s preemption which included earlier testimony from the aforementioned public hearings. The special episode of “Y&R” finds the Abbott sisters sitting down at Society with their newly discovered grandniece, Allie (Kelsey Wang), as they share information about their lives with the hope that they’ll eventually get to learn more about Allie’s own experiences as well. Look for the episode to find the pair reminiscing with their brother, Jack (Peter Bergman), and Ashley’s daughter, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), among others, as they take a trip down memory lane filled with flashbacks and memorable moments. 10. JW Howard/Attorneys, Ltd, the law firm representing former “General Hospital” actor Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jasper “Jax” Jacks) in his wrongful termination lawsuit against Disney-owned ABC, is now also representing two former crew members from the daytime drama series who were also let go over their decision to not get vaccinated which was mandated by the company. The corporate mandate requires vaccination against COVID-19 for the cast and crews of Disney/ABC-produced shows, effective November 1, 2021. According to the 14-page complaint, first published by Deadline, James Wahl (“Jim”) and Timothy James Wahl (“Tim”) (collectively, “Plaintiffs”) allege that the mandate is “unconstitutional” and is a form of “religious discrimination.” “Plaintiffs ran the construction shop and special effects department for the ABC produced soap opera ‘General Hospital.’ Jim had worked on the show for 14 years. His son, Tim, had worked on the show for 10 years. They are behind-the-scenes employees who were critical to ‘General Hospital’s’ success,” reads a portion of the suit describing the job function of the former employees. “Plaintiffs requested a religious exemption to the Covid Vaccine Mandate. Although ABC said it would grant exemptions for sincerely held religious objections to the Covid-19 shots, it refused to accept Plaintiffs’ request. It denied their requests without explanation, one week after they requested them. “These actions were unlawful. ABC does not have the authority to force a medical treatment on its employees against their will. Even if it did, it must offer religious exemptions to anybody who requests one. It cannot discriminate among religions and cannot second-guess the sincerity of one’s religious beliefs without an objective basis for doing so. It did not have one here. ABC’s actions constitute religious discrimination and violate Plaintiffs’ rights under state law.” The suit notes, “like all Californians, Plaintiffs have a right to bodily autonomy, which the Covid Vaccine Mandate violates. They also have a right to informational privacy. ABC violated those rights” and “Plaintiffs bring this action to hold ABC accountable for its unlawful discrimination and invasion of their privacy rights.” In recapping details relating to studies and government oversight on the release of the authorized Covid-19 vaccinations, the Wahl’s note in their lawsuit that “Despite this history, and mounting evidence that the Covid shots do not prevent people from contracting or spreading Covid-19, much of which was available last summer, many government officials and other leaders have mandated that people get the shot to participate in daily life or keep their jobs.” They highlight, “To that end, during the summer of 2021, ABC decided that anybody who works on a television show it produces would have to get one of the Covid-19 shots or would be fired. The mandate was unprecedented. ABC has never required that individuals get a vaccine to work on a television show. It never even inquired about such private medical information before the Covid pandemic, recognizing that California prohibits employers from conditioning employment on medical conformity.” Additionally, “ABC said it would respect an individual’s sincere religious objection to the Covid Vaccine Mandate. Therefore, during October 2021, Plaintiffs requested religious exemptions to the mandate,” which “Rather than accept Plaintiffs’ request for a religious exemption, ABC scheduled an interview between them and an ABC employee to discuss their requests. Although ABC described the interview as an ‘interactive process,’ the interview was conducted by a lawyer who works for Disney. It was a cross-examination designed to elicit information that ABC could use to deny Plaintiffs’ requests for an exemption, as it denied almost all such requests during 2021.” “On November 9, 2021, ABC officially denied Plaintiffs’ requests for religious exemptions to the Covid Vaccine Mandate. It gave no reason for its decision, except to say that the company was ‘unable to conclude that you are prevented from receiving the Covid-19 vaccine due to a sincerely-held religious belief, practice, or observance.’” The allegation continues, noting, “ABC said nothing else. It did not ask Plaintiffs whether they could perform the essential functions of their jobs. It did not show that the company would be unduly burdened by continuing to employ Plaintiffs even if they did not get the Covid shots. It made no effort whatsoever to comply with its obligations under the law and, on information and belief, it violated numerous ABC/Disney policies about how to handle requests for religious accommodations, even when health is involved.” For more from the lawsuit against ABC by the Wahl’s, click here. Photo by Todd Wawrychuk/ABC Meanwhile, Rademacher recently requested a hearing to quash a subpoena from ABC that was issued to the Protection of the Educational Rights of Kids (PERK) organization “on the grounds that the category of requested documents violate privacy rights and are irrelevant to this action.” In a declaration submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court on May 26, 2022, attorney Scott J. Street of JW/ Howard Attorneys, Ltd, the attorneys of record for plaintiff Rademacher, stated that on April 22, 2022, the law firm was served with a notice and copy of defendant ABC’s business records subpoena issued to the “non-party” organization. The hearing is set for Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter. As for his lawsuit against ABC, a jury trial is currently on the docket for Monday, February 27, 2023. 12. Months after it was revealed that Alison Sweeney had returned to the Burbank-based studio where “Days of our Lives” tapes, we finally know when you’ll get your first glimpse at the actress on the daytime drama series when she reprises her role as Sami Brady DiMera. Beginning Thursday, June 23, Sami is back in Salem after spending an extended period of time away from her family and friends after deciding to leave town with Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) who at the time had provided her with evidence showing that EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was behind her kidnapping. In reality, Lucas was actually the one behind everything. EJ was later arrested and charged with the crime. Lucas came back to Salem in May, minus Sami. During her absence, EJ has grown close to Sami’s younger sister, Belle (Martha Madison), and the pair have recently shared their first kiss. Meanwhile, with his guilt over the truth of the kidnapping getting to him, Lucas has returned to drinking and could possibly have had something to do with the death of Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller), who was found murdered by her husband, Chad (Billy Flynn), last week. Chad is EJ’s younger brother and Abigail is Lucas’ niece which further complicates things. Upon her return, look for Sami to have a lot of questions about what’s been going on. The real question, however, should be will she like the answers she receives? Make sure to tune in to find out! Reprising the role of Sami in 2017, two years after departing as a full-time cast member, Sweeney’s latest stint is expected to be brief as she is currently only available for short story arcs in order to accommodate her very packed work schedule that includes producing and starring in a host of Hallmark original movies, among other projects. “I love playing Sami, but no, full-time is not the plan for me because I produce and develop content for Hallmark, and for other streaming services,” Sweeney told PEOPLE last year while promoting the Peacock original movie, “Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas” which saw her playing an exaggerated version of Sami while her son, Will (Chandler Massey), and his husband, Sonny (Zach Tinker), were brainstorming story ideas. “I love getting to do my own projects: I love producing,” she noted, adding, “It’s really been such a joy, and such a new, fresh, fun challenge for me. I do feel so blessed to be able to have the best of both worlds. The opportunity to go back to ‘DAYS,’ it feels like going home again, to be honest with you. It’s like visiting my family during the holidays. I get to see everyone. I get to play Sami. I get to go home. But then I get to go out and develop these projects and do other things, and expand myself, and push myself.” Note: The post Alison Sweeney’s Return Date to ‘Days of our Lives’ Revealed appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 15. The SAG-AFTRA National Board announced this evening that it has overwhelmingly voted to approve a tentative successor agreement to the National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting, also known as the Network Television Code, which covers such programs as morning news shows, talk shows, serials (soap operas), variety, reality, game shows, sports and promotional announcements. More specifically, current programs covered by the contract include the likes of “Good Morning America,” “Tamron Hall,” “The Young and the Restless,” “Jeopardy,” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Voice,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” the Academy Awards and the Super Bowl, among a host of others. Negotiated with the major television broadcast networks and other producers, the contract will now be sent to SAG-AFTRA members for ratification with the board recommending a “yes” vote. The Board voted 84.54% in favor and 15.46% against during a special meeting of the National Board held via videoconference. Members will be sent a postcard on June 17 with their PIN to access the online materials in advance of the ratification vote. “This contract exemplifies why unions are essential for labor. Thanks to the strength of SAG-AFTRA, which fought for the substantial gains acquired through this negotiation, many will benefit,” said SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher. “The biggest beneficiaries being dancers, stand-ins and promotional announcers. But, also in the interest of elevating consciousness and sensitivity of a performer’s safe space, it expands protections for those performing nude or in intimate scenes. That’s a seminal step toward providing a safer environment on set and moving the needle toward an industry that respects boundaries.” “The Young and the Restless” Courtesy of CBS “The gains achieved in this contract are essential to the working performers who make Net Code content successful,” commented SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. “I want to thank our Negotiating Committee for their hard work on this contract, especially Negotiating Committee Chair Keri Tombazian and Vice Chair Kevin Scullin. 16. Television icon Marla Gibbs is heading back to “Days of our Lives” as Olivia Price during the week of June 20, 2022, when the character’s daughter, Paulina (Jackée Harry), looks to finally marry Abe Carver (James Reynolds). Gibbs last appeared on the daytime drama series in November 2021 when the couple’s previous attempt at getting married was ruined when Paulina’s secrets unraveled – she is Lani’s (Sal Stowers) biological mother, but Abe (James Reynolds) is not the biological father. In addition to Gibbs, viewers can look forward to the returns of Cameron Johnson as Theo Carver, Abe’s son, and William Christian as TR Coates, Lani’s actual biological father who she later shot and killed when he attempted to harm Paulina soon after he had already hit Abe over the head with a blunt object. Like Gibbs, Johnson and Christian will be on hand for Abe and Paulina’s wedding, although Johnson’s character will appear as a supporter of the couple’s nuptials while Christian appears as a vision to a guilt a guilt-ridden Lani. Cameron Johnson, Lamon Archey (“Days of our Lives”) Photo by XJJohnson/JPI Studios In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, head writer Ron Carlivati told the publication, “We know that Abe has his doubts about the legitimacy of the story about Paulina shooting TR. And Eli [Lamon Archey] knows that Lani’s the shooter and tells Lani to keep quiet, but Lani’s guilt continues to eat away at her. She has visions of TR taunting her about what she did, so we will wonder if she’s going to come clean.” As for Abe and Paulina’s wedding itself, fans will be thrilled to hear that the couple decide to get married now that Paulina has made bail on Monday, June 20. Realizing they don’t want to wait any longer to live their lives together, the pair alert their closest family and friends about their plans which just so happens to coincide with Juneteenth. The timing was intentional. First implemented in 2021 by the United States, the newly established federally observed holiday celebrates the end of slavery when on June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger announced General Order No. 3 which stated that in accordance with the Emancipation Proclamation, “all slaves are free.” One year later, Salem will honor the event with its first-ever commemoration of the Juneteenth holiday. “The wedding coincides with Juneteenth, and we wanted to find a way to celebrate that. So we’re building toward this wedding, but have Lani growing uneasy with keeping this secret,” Carlivati said to Digest. Jackée Harry, Greg Vaughan, James Reynolds (“Days of our Lives”) Photo by XJJohnson/JPI Studios Officiating their wedding will be Eric Brady now that actor Greg Vaughan has returned to the show full-time. The wedding episode is scheduled to take place beginning Tuesday, June 21, and will include bouts of happiness and joy, mixed in with several twists and turns. 17. It’s officially the end of an era! “The Wendy Williams Williams Show” will conclude its 13th and final season on Friday, June 17, reports Variety. According to the publication, citing a rep for the talk show, the final episode will feature a video tribute to Williams who hosted 12 of the show’s 13 seasons. The current season has been without Williams as she was out due to personal and medical reasons. Williams will not be present for the final episode. Earlier this year, it was announced that producer Debmar-Mercury would be wrapping production on the show this season with comedian and veteran talk show host Sherri Shepherd filling Williams’ timeslot next season on the FOX Owned Television Stations with her own syndicated talker, “Sherri.” Separate from her health-related issues, Williams has been battling with Wells Fargo in recent months. The bank recently forced a financial guardianship against the host due to concerns over her mental health, a matter which Williams denies. “Wendy wants the world to know that she strenuously denies all allegations about her mental health and well-being,” read a statement from a representative for Williams released in March. Despite ending her talk show, Debmar-Mercury co-presidents, Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, have previously stated that a Williams-hosted show could eventually return should Williams be fully available. “It doesn’t mean the next day, but we will put it together and figure it out,” said Bernstein in a statement. “It’s not like we have a Plan B where we hit a button and it’s back in a week, but we do have the desire to be in business with her, if she can come back and be healthy, and so does Fox.” “Other than her health, she could have continued to keep doing it as long as she wanted. She was still getting a rating and she has a die-hard audience that turned it into a profitable show,” added Marcus. “We were protecting the business, while we waited for her. And at some point, we had to say, ‘We have a business to run and she’s not here.’ It was a hard call.” Note: The post ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ Concluding This Week After 13 Seasons in National Syndication appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. The game show was up +99,000 and +166,000 week to week for both of its half hours while the ABC talker swapped places with “General Hospital” (2.192 million) to regain its mark as the network’s top-rated daytime broadcast series, gaining +151,000 viewers week to week. “The Price is Right” (3.880 million / 4.424 million) remained on top and saw both half hours up +28,000 and +12,000, respectively, week to week. The former series, however, continued to see year to year gains, up +217,000 over 2021, and another +1.487 million uplift from the show’s performance in 2020 when it continued airing a week of classic episodes (reruns). “The Bold and the Beautiful” (3.062 million) gained +47,000 viewers over last week and added +272,000 viewers over last year. The show also saw an uptick of +175,000 viewers over 2020 which gives credence to the network ordering a 13th season back in April. 19. Not only do they play sisters on-screen but Eileen Davidson and Beth Maitland have the distinction of joining “The Young and the Restless” just days apart 40 years ago this month. In recognition of their four-decade contribution to the popular daytime series, on Friday, June 17, CBS will air a special standalone episode of the soap which honors the history of their characters, Ashley Abbott and Traci Abbott, respectively. Note: An earlier version of this article indicated that the original airdate for the special standalone episode was Thursday, June 16. Due to CBS News airing portions of the January 6 Committee hearings on Monday, June 13, a repeat episode of “Y&R” was joined in progress pushing all-new episodes back by one day. Kelsey Wang, Beth Maitland and Eileen Davidson (“The Young and the Restless”) Photo by Sonja Flemming/CBS As shown in a promo for the episode, the sisters can be seen sitting down at a reserved table in Society with their newly discovered grandniece, Allie (Kelsey Wang), as they share information about their lives with the hope they’ll eventually get to learn more about Allie’s own experiences as well. Look for the episode to find the pair reminiscing with their brother, Jack (Peter Bergman), and Ashley’s daughter, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), among others, as they take a walk down memory lane filled with flashbacks and memorable moments. Cast Photo (“Eileen Davidson and Beth Maitland 40th anniversary”) Photo by Howard Wise/JPI Studios Don Diamont, who currently moonlights as Bill Spencer on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” returned to his old stomping grounds at “Y&R” to give a wonderful speech as he recalled working with them during his time playing womanizer Brad Carlton (1985-1996; and 1998-2009) who was romantically involved with both Traci and Ashley, albeit nearly a decade separated the relationships. On the show, Brad and Traci shared a biological child together, Colleen, and Abby was adopted by Brad during his time with Ashley. Sadly, Brad died by drowning after saving a young Noah Newman after his body was found frozen in a lake. A year later, Colleen also fell into a lake and nearly drowned. After being told her daughter was brain dead, Traci made the difficult decision to pull the plug. Colleen’s heart was later donated to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Both Davidson and Maitland later gave their own speeches in addition while also being around to pose for dozens of photographs with their “Y&R” family. Tracey E. 20. Yikes! Correct! Can’t believe I totally forgot about the pandemic interruption. So, yeah. With COVID and all those repeats on holidays for the last 10+ years, maybe the episode would have aired at the end of 2021, the earliest.
  21. Theoretically, the only way it would have happened sooner is if ABC hadn’t started airing reruns of the show on all federal holidays several years ago. Otherwise, it’s about right.
  22. According to a recent update to the show’s credits, Gregory Harrison is now on contract at “General Hospital.” The actor joined the daytime drama series in November 2020 in the then recurring role of Gregory Chase, the father of Finn (Michael Easton) and Chase (Josh Swickard). After disappearing from the scene in mid-2021, the character returned to Port Charles in April of this year. The role was previously portrayed by James Read for a four-and-a-half-month run in 2018. Before appearing in Port Charles, Harrison made a name for himself when he played Dr. George Alonzo “Gonzo” Gates in the popular series “Trapper John, M.D.” He later starred as Michael Sharpe in the primetime soap “Falcon Crest.” He followed that up with a starring role as Jack Taylor in “The Family Man.” The actor would go on to appear in multiple episodes of “Strong Medicine,” “Joey,” “One Tree Hill,” “Ringer,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” and more recently “Chesapeake Shores,” among his other numerous television and film credits. Fans of Harrison who would like to meet the actor in person are in luck. He’ll be appearing at the RomaDrama Live!, an event where stars from romantic comedies, Christmas movies, soaps and more will get up close and personal with their biggest fans. The event is taking place during the weekend of June 24-26, 2022 from the Palm Beach Convention Center in West Palm Beach, FL. There will be meet & greets, selfies, autograph signings, photo opportunities, and even Q&As. For more information about the event, click here. Since the last time we reported on changes to the show’s contract cast, the series has added Tanisha Harper as Jordan Ashford, Tabyana Ali as Trina Robinson, Robert Gossett as Marshall Ashford, Michael Kruse as Rory Cabrera and Josh Kelly as Cody Bell to its roster. In total, the soap currently has 36 actors under contract with several dozen more working in a recurring capacity.
