  1. Reba McEntire, Reba, The Voice, #TheVoice

Reba McEntire is getting back into the comedy game.

NBC recently ordered a multi-camera pilot that will star the actress and country singer that also reunites her with former “Reba” executive producers Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis, who will all serve as executive producers on the potential series alongside McEntire and Julie Abbott.

In a logline released by the network, McEntire will play a character named Reba who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.

The United Reba McEntire Project is the first pilot ordered for the 2024-2025 broadcast television following the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that impacted Hollywood for over five months.

McEntire’s re-entry into scripted television comes a year after the cancellation of the ABC drama “Big Sky,” which ran for three seasons on the alphabet network. McEntire took over as the show’s lead, playing Sunny Barnes during season three and worked alongside real-life boyfriend Rex Linn, who played her character’s husband, Buck.

Outside of acting, McEntire is gearing up for her second consecutive season as a coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” which is set to premiere with its 25th season on Monday, February 26. John Legend and Chance the Rapper, with country superstars Dan+Shay joining the show as its first coaching duo.

From “2001-2007,” McEntire starred as Reba Hart in the hit comedy series “Reba,” which ran for six seasons across The WB and The CW, becoming among the highest-rated shows on both networks. In 2012, McEntire starred as Reba MacKenzie in ABC’s “Malibu Country,” another comedy series that did better than expected numbers as part of the network’s Friday night lineup.

Over the years, McEntire has appeared in numerous television shows, including a recurring role on “Young Sheldon,” “Baby Daddy” and Last Man Standing,” among others.

In 2023, she starred as Kim Wheeler in the Lifetime movie “The Hammer,” which followed an attorney later appointed as a judge for Nevada’s 5th district after the former judge’s death. The movie was inspired by the real-life story of Kim Wheeler, one of the last traveling judges in the United States.

The numbers above are calculated using Live+Same Day viewing and DVR playback, defined as 3:00 a.m.-3:00 a.m. and are courtesy of Nielsen. Household ratings are the percentage of TV homes in the U.S. tuned into television, each of which represents 1,250,000 homes as of the 2023-2024 television season.

Note*: Officially, the demo ratings are sorted by the rounded figures released by Nielsen. “NBC News Daily” 2022, 2021 and 2020 figures are compared to the performance of “Days of our Lives,” which moved to Peacock exclusively beginning September 12, 2022. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” 2020 (pre-pandemic) figures are compared to “GMA3: Strahan, Sara & Keke.”

Year-to-year comparisons (2024 vs. 2023) for most daytime broadcast shows among Households and Total Viewers will be unavailable for the foreseeable future due to figures being unavailable to Soap Opera Network during that period.

    **Notable Preemptions/Schedule Changes

    • “NBC News Daily” was retitled to “NBC News Daily-ND” on Friday, February 2, 2024. The episode was, therefore, excluded from the show’s weekly and season averages.  The show’s weekly is based on four days (Monday through Thursday).

  3. Thanks again for all the info @janea4old.

Although the UEFA games are not in the same league as NFL games in terms of ratings on CBS, the male demographic is the one CBS is trying to reach during periods without the NFL, which explains why they are hellbent on seeing the games stay on the network through 2030, and why we are getting preemptions on the West Coast in particular on Tuesdays/Wednesdays.

Between the male demo, being a male-dominated sport, and high-income households watching, "this is the way" is the phrase most appropriate for why the network continues with UEFA even though not one American team is competing.

This is the third year in a row they've done this.

According to this, the deal has been extended to 2030:
Article dated August 2022 from Fortune (archived):
    https://web.archive.org/web/20230329101012/https://fortune.com/2022/08/19/paramount-renews-us-rights-champions-league-valued-at-1-5-billion/

"Paramount is betting the sport will continue to gain popularity in the U.S. The Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool attracted 2.8 million viewers on its CBS network in May, the largest U.S. audience ever for a final game broadcast on English-language television. It also was the largest streaming audience for a match on Paramount+. "

The Champions League final aired on CBS-TV on Saturday May 28, 2022, so that's what they're basing this August 2022 article on.
So I guess based on that Saturday rating of the final, they decided to continue the annual Tuesday/Wednesday matches on CBS-TV.

The 2023 final aired on CBS-TV on Saturday June 10, 2023, and I don't know the numbers/ratings on that.

According to the much missed site ShowBuzzDaily, the June 10, 2023 broadcast of the UEFA Champions League Final started at 3:01 p.m. and averaged 2.183 million viewers, of which 1.049 million were in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The airing did a 0.99 Household rating. The game was between Manchester City and Internazionale Milano football clubs.

The game was also broadcast on Univision and something called TUDN, which is an American Spanish-language sports network that apparently is the successor name to Univision Deportes.

    https://showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-saturday-6-10-2023-top-150-cable-originals-network-finals.html

As for the May 28, 2022 game you mentioned, it had 2.761 million viewers which rounded up to the 2.8 million cited by Fortune. In Adults 18-49 viewers, the game did 1.299 million, and in households, it had a 1.11 rating. As cited, the game was between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

On the Wednesday, February 21 episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” a familiar face from “The Talk” will make her soap opera acting debut.

Soap Opera Network has learned that Amanda Kloots, co-host of “The Talk,” and her real-life son Elvis Cordero, will be appearing in the episode which sees Lucy (Kloots) bringing her son Danny (Cordero) for a play date with Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras), the daughter of Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton).

While things might appear innocent initially, there’s more to the story.

Kloots officially joined “The Talk” as one of the show’s five co-hosts in January 2021. Before that, she appeared as a guest co-host on the daily talk show, which now includes a diverse lineup of personalities, including the addition of two male co-hosts. In late 2021, Kloots participated as a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.” She and her professional dance partner, Alan Bersten, placed fourth in the competition.

In 2022, Kloots starred in the CBS original movie “Fit for Christmas,” which she wrote and executive produced. The TV movie also stars Paul Greene, Stephan Miers and Rebecca Budig (“All My Children”).

In January, Kloots co-hosted “The 26th Annual Family Film and TV Awards” alongside “The Talk” co-host Akbar Gbajabiamila. The two also appeared as presenters at “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” in December.

Eagle-eyed soap fans will note that the appearance of Lucy on the soap was first teased via a script shown in an Instagram video published by Kimberlin Brown (Sheila) last month, wherein she captioned the post saying, “Are you ready for it? It’s coming!” She used the hashtags “drama,” “daytime drama,” and “What The” with the song “…Ready for It?” by Taylor Swift, overlaying the video.

Check out photos from Kloot’s and her son’s upcoming appearance on “The Bold and the Beautiful” below, along with pictures of those they’ll appear in scenes with.

Burton talks about his first day on set which was Tues Feb. 6.  He said he discussed his storyline with Korte.  Didn't say what the storyline is.  No mention of changes.  All he says is that he talked with Korte. (and that he liked what she said).

To clarify, Burton's first day back was Monday, February 5 (my birthday 🤪).

  7. I spoke to my aunt earlier today, who has been a soap watcher for decades. Of the four soaps still on the air, the one she still watched was Days of our Lives. That is, until it moved to Peacock. She hasn't watched it since. I don't know how many people are watching Days of our Lives currently, but it's definitely nowhere near the same amount as those who watched when it was still on broadcast television.

  8. Lauren Koslow, Kate Roberts, Days of our Lives, DAYS, DOOL, #DAYS, #DOOL, #DaysofourLives

“Days of our Lives” star Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) recently announced that she is a first time grandmother.

In a post on Instagram, Koslow shared the first pictures of her granddaughter, Sistine, saying in the caption, “Welcome to this wondrous world, sweet Sistine. I’m your grandmama and I’ve been waiting to meet you for such a long, long while.”

It was back in October 2023 when Koslow revealed in a separate Instagram post that her daughter Millikate was pregnant and expecting a daughter.

In that post, Koslow said, “I love you to the moon and stars and back again!!! Forever and always! Happy birthday my beautiful daughter – enjoy every moment of this most fabulous next trip around the sun . Congratulations my soon -to -be little mama.”

In response to Koslow’s happy news about the birth of her first grandbaby, several of her current and former co-stars chimed in, including Kristian Alfonso, Mary Beth Evans, Melissa Reeves, Thaao Penghlis, Jen Lilley, Valerie Wildman and Blake Berris, among others.

“Beautiful Beauty just like her momma and Grandmama,” commented Alfonso. “Soooo beautiful!!! Happy grandmahood,” boasted Evans. “Lauren!!!!!! So excited for you and your family,” noted Reeves. “So precious!!! Congratulations to you and your loved ones. Sending love,” stated Wildman.

Check out the Instagram posts below for photos of the newborn and a collage of milestones featuring Koslow’s daughter, Millikate.

  9. Ken Corday, Arianne Zucker, Nicole Walker, Days of our Lives, DAYS, DOOL, #DAYS, #DOOL, #DaysofourLives

In response to a lawsuit filed by former “Days of our Lives” actress Arianne Zucker early Wednesday at the Superior Court of the state of California, wherein she alleges claims of sexual harassment and retaliation, the show’s producer Corday Productions, Inc. and former co-executive producer Albert Alarr have formally issued statements on the matter.

According to a spokesperson for Corday Productions, “The allegations in Ms. Zucker’s lawsuit are without merit. Corday Productions offered to renew Ms. Zucker’s contract including offering her a pay increase. Rejecting Ms. Zucker’s counteroffer does not constitute retaliation.” The show’s statement further noted, “Complaints about Mr. Alarr’s on-set behavior were promptly investigated. Corday Productions fully cooperated with the impartial investigation and subsequently terminated Mr. Alarr.”

Albert Alarr, Days of our Lives, DAYS, DOOL, #DAYS, #DOOL, #DaysofourLives
    Albert Alarr

As for Alarr, his attorney, Robert M. Barta, released a statement to TMZ, saying, “As Albert said when Ms. Zucker first leveled these outrageous claims through the press last year, her baseless allegations were examined in a detailed and entirely independent investigation that lasted for two months. Dozens of individuals cooperated and every claim was thoroughly looked into. At the end of that process, the decision was made that Albert should continue in his role as Co-Executive Producer of ‘Days of our Lives.’

“As Ms. Zucker’s own lawsuit all but admits, at a time of industry-wide cutbacks, she was aggressively seeking a significant personal pay increase and additional influence on the show. Having failed in those attempts, she is now – again – trying to exploit vile stereotypes to denigrate and demean a Black man who was in a position of power.”

In addition to Corday Productions, Inc. and Albert Alarr, “Days of our Lives” executive producer Ken Corday is himself also named as a defendant in Zucker’s lawsuit.

In her complaint for damages, which also includes a demand for a jury trial, Zucker’s lawsuit outlines the following:

    1. Discrimination in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.)
    2. Harassment in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.)
    3. Retaliation in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.)
    4. Failure to Prevent Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.)
    5. Violation of California Labor Code § 1102.5
    6. Violation of California Labor Code § 1197.5
    7. Negligent Hiring, Supervision and Retention
    8. Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
    9. Wrongful Termination In Violation of Public Policy
    10.  Breach of Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing
    11. Violation of California Business & Professions Code § 17200, et. seq.

Zucker’s contract with Corday Productions, wherein she’s played the role of Nicole Walker DiMera on and off “Days of our Lives” since 1998, expired last month, four months after she alleges she entered into contract negotiations with the production company. She alleges she was given a “take it or leave it” offer. Without a new deal in place, she was effectively without a job.

  11. Arianne Zucker, Nicole Walker, Days of our Lives, DAYS, DOOL, #DAYS, #DOOL, #DaysofourLives

Arianne Zucker, one of the only current actors under contract at “Days of our Lives” to informally speak out during the Albert Alarr allegations from last summer, which led to the producer’s firing from the daytime drama series, is now suing the show’s production company, Corday Productions, Inc., over alleged claims of sexual harassment and retaliation. Also named in the suit, which claims Alarr had sexually harassed her and other female employees on the show, are Alarr and the show’s executive producer, Ken Corday.

According to TMZ, which first reported the news of Zucker’s lawsuit, the actress was “subjected to nonconsensual sexual touching and sexually harassing comments during Alarr’s employment — claiming Alarr would frequently pull her close to his chest and make sexual moans while doing so.”

Additionally, while filming, “Alarr would make sexually suggestive remarks” and allegedly tell male “costars filming sex scenes with her that he would ‘love to switch positions’ with them.” Further, Alarr allegedly “made it clear he enjoyed aggressive sex scenes.”

In line with a report by Deadline last July, Zucker notes in her lawsuit that Alarr’s behavior had become “ well-known to other producers … claiming multiple women went to Corday Production Inc. over the years but the company allegedly did nothing.”

After meeting with the show’s co-producer, Sony Pictures Television and its HR department between March 2023 and June 2023, wherein an investigation had been underway with several cast members and employees called in to discuss allegations brought against Alarr, Zucker points out that ultimately, Alarr was allowed to continue in his role as the show’s then co-executive producer, something which left Zucker feeling “violated and intimidated.”

In the months since Alarr’s August firing, with Janet Drucker replacing him as the show’s co-executive producer, a move Zucker claims to have been a move to “save face” after the allegations became public, Arianne alleges that by October 2023, she had attempted to negotiate a new contract with Corday Productions. The production company allegedly gave her a “take it or leave it” counteroffer. By January 2024, Zucker’s contract had expired without a new deal being made, which she says effectively left her without a job.

As a result, Zucker filed her lawsuit, claiming “harassment, discrimination, retaliation, negligent hiring and supervision, and wrongful termination,” among other claims. Zucker is asking for unspecified damages.

You can read the full lawsuit which was published by Deadline, by clicking here.

Zucker is being represented by attorney Anahita Sedaghatfar.

  14. William Lipton, Cameron Webber, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

After spending time away from Port Charles to concentrate on his college studies in real life, actor William Lipton will soon return to “General Hospital” as Cameron Webber for some emotional scenes during the week of February 5.

With Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) presumed dead after a fall into the water alongside ex-girlfriend Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), family, friends and all those in between will gather in memory of the beloved Cassadine heir, which includes his best friend and cousin Cameron. In real life, Spencer’s portrayer is taking time off to film the Netflix limited series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” with Chavez portraying the elder Menendez brother, Lyle.

Lipton was last seen on the soap in March 2023. He joined the cast of the daytime drama series in 2018 as the firstborn son of Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst).

Soap Opera Digest, which first reported Lipton’s return, interviewed the actor last year following his most recent appearance, wherein he said of fans missing his appearance on the series, “It’s always an honor to be so well-received by such an amazing and loving community.” He added, “They have been following a good chunk of my life now. I started [on ‘GH’] when I was a sophomore in high school and now I’m a sophomore in college. I’m so thankful for everyone’s concern and the love they’ve given me.”

In 2020, Lipton was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Original Song for his work as composer and lyricist for the song “North Star,” which was featured on “General Hospital.”

In addition to his musical talents, Lipton was also previously nominated two other times by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the organization behind the Daytime Emmy Awards, for his portrayal as Cameron Webber on the soap in the now-eliminated Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama Series category (2022 nominee) and also eliminated Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series (2019 nominee) category, the latter of which preceded the former which combined actor and actress nominees into one category starting in 2020.

  16. Glad to see this thread back open. I can't fathom how a thread about a show that's been off the air for nearly 25 years could incite such whatever that was. Let's try not to have this happen again. There's absolutely no reason for it.

    Happy posting, Another World fans!

  17. Adam Harrington, Adam J. Harrington, John "Jagger" Cates, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

More than 15 years since the character was last seen on screen as part of the spinoff series “General Hospital: Night Shift,” with original star Antonio Sabato Jr. reprising the role, “General Hospital” has decided to bring back the John “Jagger” Cates character to Port Charles with actor Adam J. Harrington now portraying the part. Ironically, Harrington’s middle name is actually John.

Harrington debuted on the daytime drama series during the Friday, February 2 episode, wherein Jagger, now going by his first name, John, met Carly (Laura Wright) outside of the newly christened Bobbie’s eatery, which is named after Carly’s late mother, Bobbie Spencer (played by the late Jacklyn Zeman).

Antonio Sabato Jr., The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital: Night Shift, GH: Night Shift, GHNS, SOAPnet
    Bellum Entertainment

When last seen in 2008, Jagger (Sabato Jr.) had become an FBI agent and was a single father to an autistic son whom he named after his late brother, Stone Cates (Michael Sutton). The father/son duo eventually relocated back to San Francisco, where Jagger jump started his law enforcement career in 1994 shortly after marrying Karen (then played by Cari Shayne) when the then happy couple left for greater pastures following the exits of their portrayers from the series. In 1995, Jagger made a brief return to Port Charles to spend time with his brother, who was dying of AIDS. Shortly after Stone’s death, Jagger again returned to San Francisco. The role of Stone Cates II, or Stone Cates Jr., was played by the late actor Cameron Bryce (Disney’s “Jessie”)

First introduced in 1992, Jagger was part of the young adult scene that included the aforementioned Karen, Brenda (Vanessa Marcil), AJ (Sean Kanan) and Jason (Steve Burton), among characters in the age group.

With more than 100 acting credits under his belt, including roles as an FBI agent in episodes of “Bosch,” “The Mob Doctor” and “Dexter,” Harrington is no stranger to episodic television, having appeared in multiple episodes of such shows as “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Criminal Minds,” “CSI: NY,” “CSI: Miami,” “Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Shadowhunters,” “Show Me Yours,” “Queer as Folk,” “Whistler,” “NCIS,” “The Rookie” and more recently “The Lincoln Lawyer,” among his numerous other credits.

In 2011, Harrington voiced one of the main characters in the popular video game “L.A. Noire,” where he played a detective who had a key role in the overall murder investigation spearheaded by his Vice partner Cole Phelps (Aaron Staton). In the game, Vice is a department within the L.A.P.D. that handles offenses dealing with prostitution, narcotics, lewdness, lasciviousness and obscenity. Although now outdated graphics-wise due to the game systems in use at the time, the game was an innovator in utilizing the likeness of its cast, where the characters’ voices matched the actors portraying them. The game went on to sell over five million copies worldwide.

Well there is spec on X/Twitter that Dex is actually Michael Stone Cates, Jagger's son that audiences during Night Shift 2. Who knows.

If they dont do anything with Jagger then there is no point of the FBI guy being Jagger

Don't you love how spec happens where some people claim to suddenly know everything when literally no one knew Jagger was even back in town, much less recast?

Haha OK. I was about to be like, "Well you must hate a lot of characters," lol.

Oh, lmao! Then we'd have no television shows on TV, especially not a single soap opera. So funny!

As a side note, I find this annoying:

    • Antonio Sabato Jr
    • Antonio Sabato, Jr
    • Antonio Sabato, Jr.
    • Antonio Sabáto Jr
    • Antonio Sabáto, Jr
    • Antonio Sabáto, Jr.

To be clear, I'm referencing how said person seemingly does not know how they want to spell their name on any given day. The bolded versions are the most common ones used by said person. The others are just the proper grammatical variations of it.

Oh, and they also use Antonio Sabato Jr. on their new book's cover, so I guess that's a third variation they use now.

😂I was kidding of course.  It would be an epic fail to recast Brenda with practically anyone-even a better actress.   Vanessa just is Brenda.  And the daunting task of trying to find someone else with romantic chemistry with MB these days would just be too much effort lol.

I used to think that of Carly, but they still ended up recasting her THREE times. If they can recast Edward Quartermaine, they can recast anyone no matter how much of a reach it might be. I don't agree with recasting, however, to be clear.
