  3. Christel Khalil, Lily Winters, The Young and the Restless, The Young & the Restless, Young and the Restless, Young & the Restless, Young and Restless, Young & Restless, Y&R, #YR, #YoungandRestless

It’s been over two months since fans last saw Christel Khalil on “The Young and the Restless” as Lily Winters, but the wait for her return is almost over!

Last week, in an Instagram story, Khalil posted a short but receptive message, captioning a photo of herself standing in a group shot alongside co-stars Bryton James (Devon) and Eric Braeden (Victor), which said, “Back At It!”

Although an on-air return date has not been announced, fans can at least look forward to seeing Khalil back in Genoa City soon, more than two months since her character departed to be with her daughter Mattie, who had been among several (fictional) Standford University students trapped on campus by a wildfire that surrounded them. Lily went to spend time with Mattie to support her as she dealt with the trauma.

In a June 2023 post on Instagram, Khalil revealed that she was pregnant with her second child, her first with fiancé Sam Restagno — Khalil has a son, Michael Caden, from a previous relationship.

Although the date of birth for the couple’s child remains a mystery, Khalil did share in another Instagram post that they were expecting a boy. In a post highlighting her baby bump and the bond between mother and father, Khail said, “Getting closer to meeting our baby boy…”

In a 2020 interview with Soap Opera Digest, Khalil said of her relationship with Restagno, “We kind of hit it off right away. He’s Canadian, so he was really nice [laughs]. Another big one for me was that he wasn’t in the same industry. I felt that was all I was around. It was just a different conversation with Sam, but there were a lot of other great things about him. We went out on our first date two weeks later and had so much fun together. About six months later, I knew he was the one.”

Khalil and Restagno met in 2013.

Kate Snow is stepping down as the anchor of the “NBC Nightly News” Sunday Edition, effective Sunday, February 25. She’ll focus more on her co-anchor duties at “NBC News Daily,” which airs weekdays on NBC and the streaming network NBC News Now.

“I have loved being with you every Sunday night,” said Snow at the end of the February 18 broadcast, according to Deadline. “It’s been a privilege,” she added, noting her daily show is “growing fast, and I have decided after a lot of thought to focus my attention Monday through Friday on that role.”

In January, “NBC News Daily” topped its ABC competition, “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” among the key Adults 25-54 news demographic and narrowed the gap among Total Viewers. In fact, during the week of January 29-February 2, 2024, “NBC News Daily” averaged 154,000 viewers among Adults 18-49 vs. 156,000 viewers for “GMA3” (0.12 rating, tie), while the NBC News show averaged 228,000 viewers among Adults 25-54 to 224,000 viewers for “GMA3” (0.19 rating, tie).

“NBC News Daily” premiered in September 2022 following the move of “Days of our Lives” to streaming service Peacock. Of the show’s total four-hour runtime on NBC News Now, Snow co-anchors alongside Zinhle Essamuah during the 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET broadcast, with one of the four hours carried live in each time zone on NBC stations for what becomes “NBC News Daily.” Vicky Nguyen and Morgan Radford co-anchor the 12:00-2:00 p.m. ET broadcast.

Since 2015, Snow has anchored the Sunday edition of “NBC Nightly News.” She’ll continue in her role as Senior National Correspondent for NBC News with reports appearing across all platforms of NBC News and MSNBC, including contributing to “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” “TODAY,” and “Dateline NBC.”

Snow hosts NBC News’ “The Drink with Kate Snow,” a digital series and podcast where she speaks with innovators and influencers and dives into their success stories. In 2019, Snow created and hosted “Relentless with Kate Snow,” which aired on Oxygen and featured stories of relentless crime survivors in their pursuit of justice for a family member. From 2015-2017, Snow anchored a weekday news program on MSNBC, which featured newsmakers and fast-paced political coverage.

A replacement for Snow was not known at press time. However, Deadline is reporting that the broadcast will see a rotating group of anchors filling in in the interim.

Below is a memo sent out to staff by Janelle Rodriguez, executive vice president of programming, NBC News.

As you may have heard Kate share on tonight’s ‘NBC Nightly News,’ next week will be her last anchoring the Sunday broadcast. After more than eight years at the helm of the Sunday edition, Kate has decided to focus her efforts on her five-day-a-week program, ‘NBC News Daily,’ which recently took the reins as the #1 afternoon news program on television.

Kate’s dedication to Nightly and its viewers has been nothing short of inspiring. She works tirelessly and has that rare gravitas, earned throughout her distinguished career marked by dogged reporting and powerful interviews. She cares deeply about her work and the profound and positive impact it can have on the world, and that compassion extends to those of us who work with her behind the camera. She’s a loyal colleague, a mentor and a friend.

Luckily, to borrow a page from Kate and José as they close each weekend newscast – there is good news tonight. Kate will continue to be an integral part of the ‘NBC Nightly News’ family. You will see and work with her frequently on ‘Nightly’ pieces, in addition to ‘TODAY,’ in her role as senior national correspondent, and she’ll appear across our screens anchoring two hours of ‘NBC News Daily’ each weekday, as well. Kate has been a major force behind ‘NBC News Daily’s early success, and we’re fortunate she’s now able to fully devote herself to the show.

  5. Ben Lanzarone, Dynasty, The Colbys, Hotel, Happy Daze, Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy, The Love Boat

Ben Lanzarone, the much-celebrated composer, arranger, musical director and pianist behind classic scores featured on television shows “Dynasty,” “The Love Boat,” “The Colbys” and “Hotel,” among others, has died. He died on Friday, February 16 at 12:05 a.m. in Los Angeles of lung cancer.

Born October 28, 1938, Lanzarone was a native of Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the famed High School of Music and Art in New York City and later graduated with a double Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He began his career as a classical pianist and traveled the country as a soloist with the Longines Symphonette. He made his solo debut at Carnegie Recital Hall.

Through his association with Bob Crewe and Charles Fox, Lanzarone entered the world of popular music, first collaborating on Ben’s album, “In Classic Form,” showcasing his talent as a classical and jazz pianist.

Continuing his work on other Bob Crewe productions, including recordings for Bobby Darin, Vikki Carr, and The Bob Crewe Generation, Lanzarone would become a busy arranger for a diverse list of recording artists, including Peter Nero, Vicki Sue Robinson, the disco group The Brothers, as well as the soundtrack of the motion picture, “Grease.”

His work composing television scores won Lanzarone the prestigious ASCAP “Most Performed Composer Award.” He wrote music for countless episodes of television, including “The Tracy Ullman Show”, “The Jay Leno Comedy Hour” and” Mr. Belvedere.” But, it was his long association with Aaron Spelling and Doug Cramer that resulted in many scores for “Dynasty” (including the legendary catfight episode with Alexis and Crystal Carrington), “The Love Boat,” “Vegas,” “Matt Houston,” “The Colbys” and “Hotel.”

Among television comedies, Lanzarone wrote the music for numerous episodes of “Happy Days” (including the episode where Fonzie jumped the shark), “Laverne and Shirley” and “Mork and Mindy.”

Married to actress and singer Ilene Graff for forty-six years, the couple enjoyed a personal and professional relationship that spanned stage, screen, live concerts, and recordings, including a Grammy nomination for their album “Baby’s Broadway Lullabies.” Along with their daughter, Broadway vet Nikka Graff Lanzarone, they created and performed popular cabaret concerts in New York City and Los Angeles. They also taught a popular workshop, “Making the Song Your Own,” inspiring singers to find joy in music and performance.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Lanzarone lent his time and talents to many charitable organizations, including The Variety Club, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and The Entertainment Community Fund.

Lanzarone is survived by his wife, Ilene Graff, daughter Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Daniel Smith), brothers Frank and Peter Lanzarone, brothers-in-law Richard and Todd Graff (Jhon Lafaurie), nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends.

A private memorial service will be held in Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund). Click here for more information.

Amanda Kloots (“The Talk”) is about to make one of her dreams come true when she appears on the Wednesday, February 21 and Thursday, February 22 episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” playing Lucy, a mom who takes Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) daughter Kelly (Sophia Paras) on a play date with her son, Danny (played by Kloot’s real-life son, Elvis Cordero).

Speaking with Stephanie Sloane in the latest “Soap Dish” column featured in the latest issue of TV Guide Magazine, on sale now, Kloots shares that “When I was a little girl, my mom and sisters and I would watch soap operas on a daily basis,” adding, “It’s quite thrilling to be a part of one.”

Although she couldn’t share storyline details in her interview, Kloots did note to Sloane that she’d love to return to the soap in the future, saying, “It’s such an incredible job.” As for her four-year-old son doing the acting thing, Kloots points out, “I don’t think he understands yet that he’s acting. He knows his lines, [and] he improvs. He’s hilarious.”

As for details on what’s about to go down, here’s what we can tell you: On the Wednesday, February 21 episode of the daytime drama series, Lucy takes Danny and Kelly for lunch at Il Giardino, which is where Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) works as a waitstaff member. Despite being forbidden to interact with Kelly as per Steffy’s wishes, Sheila approaches Kelly anyway, which later leads to an all-out brawl between Steffy and Sheila on the Thursday, February 22 episode that even Deacon (Sean Kanan) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) find it hard to break up. Things get so bad that it’ll take both men until at least the Friday, February 23 episode to get things under some control. But keep in mind, this is just another step in the Steffy/Sheila war that is far from over!

I grew up watching soaps with my Mom so this was a surreal dream job day! Catch the episode on Feb 21st on CBS! Elvis makes an appearance too!”

  7. Katy Perry, American Idol, Idol, #AmericanIdol, #Idol

Ahead of tonight’s seventh season premiere of “American Idol,” launching this evening on ABC, judge Katy Perry announced last week that the show’s new season will be her last.

Appearing on the Monday, February 12 episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Perry revealed to host Jimmy Kimmel that she has decided to pursue other projects, such as the Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil later this fall, something “Idol” would normally prevent due to scheduling. As such, “I think this will be my last show,” Perry noted, adding, “I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to feel that pulse to my own beat, you know what I’m saying, Jimmy?”

When asked by Kimmel what Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan have to say about her departure news, Perry stunned the audience, saying, “Well, they’ll find out tonight.” She clarified that while they are learning of her exit on Kimmel’s show, the news wouldn’t be so surprising considering, “They know that I have some things planned for this year. It’s going to be a very exciting year — for all pop star girlies.”

As for a succession plan by “Idol” producers when it comes to replacing her as a judge, Perry only stated, “Let’s just say I’m creating space for my new wing span.” Meanwhile, she said of her colleagues, “I love them so much,” to which Kimmel interrupted her, saying, “But you didn’t tell them.” Perry nodded in agreement but noted, “They know, they know. They figured I’ve been in the studio for a while, so they figured something was up.”

On the Thursday, February 15 episode of Kimmel’s show, Lionel Richie appeared as a guest and responded to Perry’s upcoming exit from the series.

“I’m not mad,” said Richie after Kimmel asked him if he was, knowing that Perry announced her departure on the late-night show before telling those she closely worked with. “It just made me run off the road when I first heard it,” joked the music legend. He noted, “It makes sense. In other words, the reason I love coming on the show here with you and the reason I’m doing ‘American Idol’ is because I have 400 years of stories and a life in the music business. I have things that I have done, and so when Katie says, ‘I want to go and create some stories,’ … but the point is you have to go and take some time and actually be an artist.”

When Kimmel asked him who he’d like to see replace Perry, Richie said, “They are keeping tight lip because I don’t even know but I’m telling you, it’s going to be really interesting. Only because I’m telling you something, this is a great show, and what I love most of all is that we’re artists, so we know what we’re talking about, and these kids are scared to death, so I love sitting there as the wise papa of the three of us sitting there, and we’re all kind of giving information that we know is real. So, whoever is coming on the show has got to be, well, come past Katie, you got to be humorous forever and on top of that, knowledgeable.”

To hear what both Perry and Richie had to say about Perry and her exit from “American Idol,” plus what fans can expect from the show’s new season, watch the clips below.

While storyline details are being kept under wraps, and her first appearance back on screen has not been disclosed at press time, we can at least finally reveal that Mishael Morgan is officially back in Genoa City as Amanda Sinclair during the week of February 19-23, 2024 on “The Young and the Restless.” Additionally, she’ll share scenes with co-stars Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman), Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott), and, of course, Bryton James (Devon Hamilton), among others.

In late January, Morgan announced her return to “The Young and the Restless” when she posted a short clip on Instagram of herself looking over her character’s wardrobe at the Television City studio where the soap opera tapes. With the song  “…Ready for It?” by Taylor Swift overlaying the video, Morgan captioned the post, saying, “Guess who’s popping in for a visit!!!”

While promoting her latest film, “Sway,” Morgan recently spoke briefly with Soaps.com’s Kristyn Burtt about her return to the CBS drama series, only saying, “All I can really say is Amanda comes to town on behalf of somebody. And she’s always there to shake things up and put people in their place.” She further noted that her character will be causing trouble “with a lot of familiar faces and interacting with a lot of familiar faces, which always has its own kind of drama and dynamic, considering the history.”

Morgan, who exited the series as a full-time cast member in 2022 shortly after taking home the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Amanda, last appeared on the soap in March 2023. Of a possible return, full-time or otherwise, Morgan exclaimed, “I would be honored, and it would be my privilege to return.” Further, she says, “I think when the time is right and when I feel like maybe I’ve even learned more in my life as an actor and as a person and I want to kind of bring that back home to ‘Y&R’ and into my characters.”

As for “Sway,” the independent movie not only sees Morgan playing a character different from that of Amanda Sinclair on “The Young and the Restless,” but the actress is also taking on the role of executive producer for the film.

The film follows a community leader named Sway (played by Emmanuel Kabongo), who has it all until his life spirals out of control within hours after his brother goes missing. Between being blackmailed by a strange woman and getting himself entangled in a murder, he’ll soon find out how far he will go to protect the ones he loves. Morgan portrays a character named Lisa in the film, which recently premiered at the Pan-African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

As of the Friday, February 16 closing credits, actor Adam J. Harrington is officially on contract at “General Hospital” as John Cates.

First appearing in the Friday, February 2 episode wherein Jagger, now going by his first name, John, met Carly (Laura Wright) outside of the newly christened Bobbie’s eatery, which is named after Carly’s late mother, Bobbie Spencer (played by the late Jacklyn Zeman).

In episodes since, John has reconnected with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), among others, as they work to figure out who’s behind the hits against mob bosses, including the recently deceased Olivia Jerome. Anna even questioned John about what Stone would think if he didn’t at least try to cooperate with Sonny (Maurice Benard) in providing intel on the danger surrounding everyone so that the mob boss could ensure he’s well protected. Agreeing with her, John met with Sonny, only for the two to get into a heated discussion that virtually went nowhere.

The casting of Harrington in the role of John Cates didn’t come without some controversy, primarily from words stated by original portrayer Antonio Sabato Jr., who portrayed the character for two years from 1992-1994 when the character went by the name John “Jagger” Cates, with friends and family primarily referring to him as “Jagger.”

In a series of since-deleted videos published on Instagram and other platforms, Sabato Jr. claimed that no one from the daytime drama series had contacted him in the nearly 30 years since he last portrayed the role on “General Hospital” to return to the role. However, he failed to mention his reprising the role in 2008 during season two of the spinoff series “General Hospital: Night Shift,” which aired on SOAPnet.

A more eloquent response came from Harrington, which he posted on the day he debuted in Port Charles, saying, “Thank you for the welcome! I am excited to be joining @GeneralHospital and am very honored and take seriously the chance to play this beloved character that @AntonioSabatoJr so brilliantly brought to life.”

  10. Jon Lindstrom, Kevin Collins, Ryan Chamberlin, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GH60, #GeneralHospital, Hollywood Hustle, #HollywoodHustle

Fresh off the release of his first novel, “General Hospital” star Jon Lindstrom (Kevin) will be signing copies of “Hollywood Hustle,” which recently became a USA Today bestseller, at the Barnes & Noble Americana in Glendale, CA, on Saturday, February 17, starting at 2:00 p.m. PT The event space will open at 1:00 p.m. PT, however.

Lindstrom will be joined in conversation with his “General Hospital” co-star Michael Easton (Finn), who himself is an author known for the critically acclaimed “Soul Stealer” trilogy.

In “Hollywood Hustle,” readers follow Winston Greene, a has-been film star who wakes one morning to find his six-year-old granddaughter at his bedside—traumatized, unattended, and gripping onto a thumb drive. She comes bearing video proof that her mother, Win’s troubled adult daughter, has been kidnapped by a murderous gang demanding all his “movie money” for her safe return. But they don’t know it’s all gone, long gone. Unable to go to the police for fear the kidnappers will make good on their promise to kill his daughter, Winston turns to two close friends—a legendary Hollywood stuntman and a disgraced former LAPD detective who used to consult on Win’s cop films. There’s no easy way out for Winston or his daughter—the gang is violent and willing to do anything to get the money they’re after, and Winston begins to realize that to get his daughter back, he’ll have to beat the kidnappers at their own game. The novel is a propulsive and tense thriller that will transport readers to the seedier side of Los Angeles, depicted in bold prose by an insider.

TV Line has a pic of Eva on GH up. FWIW they claim PM's work doesn't air til mid-late March, but they may be piggybacking off prior reports.

Official scripts written by Patrick and Elizabeth don’t have an official date yet, but it’s safe to say “into March” less mid-late March, but I definitely know the Jason re-introduction has no connection to Chris/Dan, so his return date on March 4 can appear confusing. Essentially, elements of storylines airing in March will be intermixed between the two separate head writing teams before the new team officially takes over.

  19. Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood, The Talk, #TheTalk

Featuring a mix of in-studio and coverage from Las Vegas leading up to CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII, during the week of February 5-9, 2024, “The Talk” attracted its best overall audience since the week of January 15-19, 2024, averaging 1.37 million viewers, up +7% over the week ago period.

Shamar Moore (“S.W.A.T.,” “The Young and the Restless”) and Justin Hartley (“Tracker,” “The Young and the Restless”) were among the featured guests on the show which saw the show’s hosts (Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood) checking in from different locations around town, bringing viewers all the action direct from The Strip in Las Vegas.

One highlight found Natalie Morales taking a leap of faith, literally, as she jumped 856 feet into open air above the Vegas strip at speeds topping 40 mph. The thrilling adventure takes place at The Strat’s SkyJump,

The show’s first post-Super Bowl broadcast on Monday, February 12 averaged 1.66 million viewers, marking the show’s second watched single episode of the season. Additionally, this was the show’s best single episode performance since the January 16, 2024 episode.
