  1. Laura Wright, Carly Spencer, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GH60, #GeneralHospital

Whether as just friends or romantic partners, “General Hospital” star Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) is looking forward to a “Jarly” reunion on the daytime drama series.

With Steve Burton returning as Jason Morgan on the Monday, March 4 episode, leading up to the actor’s return, fans have been tweeting some of their favorite Carly and Jason moments on X (formerly Twitter) this weekend, often tagging Wright in posts whether they include videos, gifs or some of their favorite quotes.

In a post on Saturday, Wright kicked off the “Jarly” appreciation where she said, “So I hear something big is happening this week @GeneralHospital.” Her post included three photos, two of which were of Sonny (Maurice Benard), Carly and Jason. The third was of just Carly and Jason. Wright’s post received over 58,000 views, 285 comments and 193 retweets at press time.

Among the comments was a post from one poster who shared a video of the pair from December 2005, just over one month after Wright debuted as Carly.  “So excited to see you and Steve kill it in every scene! The #Jarly bond has been untouchable from the start. So lucky to watch it grow decades on!” said the poster in the post’s caption. “Ohhhhh this !!” responded Wright of the video, adding three “heart” emojis to indicate her love for the post.

“Hoping for more of this goodness in the near future,” added another poster, sharing a gif of Carly and Jason sharing a tender hug. “BFF [Best Friends Forever],” Wright said in reply to the post.

Another memorable video was shared by a poster who posted a montage of clips where Jason told Carly to “take a deep breath and count to 10,” a favorite line for fans of the duo as he is known to tell her those exact words whenever she’s panicking over something. He knows she just needs time to relax, which will help her think things through. “,” stated a gleeful Wright of the video.

As for Jason and Carly’s reunion, on Sunday, Wright posted a classic picture of Jason and Carly seeing things eye to eye while holding each other’s hands. “Soon !!! @GeneralHospital” read the caption of Wright’s post, which has received over 35,000 viewers, 144 comments and 131 retweets.

Averaging 4.48 million viewers in Live+Same Day, “Elsbeth” won its timeslot, which included ABC’s repeat airing of “Will Trent” and NBC’s airing of an all-new “Law & Order: Organized Crime” (4.48 million for CBS vs. 4.43 million for ABC/NBC), and retained nearly 100% of its “So Help Me Todd” lead-in. The series was also up +45% over the fall premiere week time period occupant and up +38% from the 2022-2023 time period average. It’s estimated that when adding in Nielsen’s Most Current data, including L+7 multiplatform viewing figures, the first episode of “Elsbeth” will grow to 6.1 million viewers.

Outside of the “Elsbeth” premiere, CBS saw its Thursday audience grow week-to-week, with “Young Sheldon” (6.98 million), “Ghosts” (6.05 million) and “So Help Me Todd” (4.53 million) each up week to week among Total Viewers. In fact, “So Help Me Todd” was up 9% overall week-to-week.

When adding in streaming, CBS’ shows saw double-digit gains from their year ago audiences on an AMA basis, including “Young Sheldon,” up +30% from the third episode last season, and “Ghosts” was up +23% from its third episode last season. Meanwhile, “So Help Me Todd” was up +23% from last season’s third episode and up +6% from last week’s second episode.

After leaving her successful legal career in Chicago to tackle a new investigative role in New York City, Elsbeth finds herself jockeying with the toast of the NYPD, Captain C.W. Wagner (Wendell Pierce), a charismatic and revered leader. Working alongside Elsbeth is Officer Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson), a stoic and ethical officer who quickly develops an appreciation for Elsbeth’s insightful and offbeat ways.

  4. Natasha Hall, Jessica Serfaty, Sloan Peterson, Days of our Lives, DAYS, DOOL, #DAYS, #DOOL, #DaysofourLives

“Days of our Lives” fans will see an unfamiliar face in a familiar role when soap newcomer Natasha Hall temporarily replaces Jessica Serfaty as Sloan Peterson for at least three episodes during the week of March 4-8, 2024.

Hall, best known for playing Yvette over three episodes in “The Kominsky Method” during the third season of the Netflix original series, will appear in scenes alongside several Salemites, including Jamie Martin Mann (Tate), Emily O Brien (Theresa) and Greg Vaughan (Eric), among others.

Soap Opera Digest, which first reported the news, did not provide a reason for the temporary recast. Meanwhile, the current storyline sees Sloan dealing with the guilt of knowing that Jude, the child she and Eric are raising, is actually Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric’s biological baby.

“When and if Nicole and Eric learn the truth will be something to tune in for!” teased the show’s executive producer, Ken Corday, in previewing what’s to come in 2024 on the daytime drama series in an interview with TV Insider “Soap Dish” columnist Stephanie Sloane.

During Hall’s short run as Sloan, look for her to appear in scenes surrounding baby Jude’s christening, which will also be attended by John and Marlena (Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall). Hall’s episodes were taped in late September 2023 due to the show’s advanced tape-to-air schedule, which has been seeing some tightening up in recent months.

Before heading to Salem, Hall more recently appeared in an episode of the Max original series, “Bookie,” starring Sebastian Maniscalco and Omar J. Dorsey. The series hails from Chuck Lorre, the same person behind such hit shows as “Young Sheldon,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Mom” “Bob Hearts Abishola,” “Two and a Half Men” and “The Kominsky Project,” among others.

Hall has appeared in three of Lorre’s shows, including the aforementioned “Bookie, “The Kominsky Project” and “Mom.”Other credits for Hall include “SEAL Team,” “The Thundermans,” “S.W.A.T.” and “NCIS: Los Angeles,” among others.

On the big screen, Hall played Madison in the 2018 movie “Game Night,” which starred Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams and Bill Magnussen (“As The World Turns”).

  6. Steve Burton, Jason Morgan, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

Steve Burton is back as Jason Morgan on “General Hospital” beginning with the Monday, March 4 episode, but it looks like he has blood on his hands instead of rubble keeping him down.

In a first-look photo released by PEOPLE, the outlet reveals that when Jason returns to the canvas, he’ll have been shot for the umpteenth time while wearing one of his signature black shirts and black leather gloves.

From what can be gathered, Jason is involved in a shootout that ends up with a bullet lodged in his lower left abdomen. Jason uses his right hand to assess his current situation as he leans on a dumpster for support.

So what causes Jason’s predicament? You’ll have to tune in to find out, but we think the Friday, March 1 episode will be particularly interesting to watch as things always have a beginning before the ending can be reached. His ungloved hand is covered in blood.

    When We Last Saw Jason

When viewers last saw Jason, he was running through a tunnel before it collapsed, leaving many to believe the character had perished, although a body was never discovered.

In the following episode, aired on Monday, November 22, 2022, which did not show Jason in any capacity, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Leisl (Kathleen Gati) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) frantically tried to remove the fallen debris from the tunnel collapse but were quickly escorted out by Anna (Finola Hughes) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) for their safety, and with the hope that Jason was able to get out on his own another way. Later, they were told that Robert’s men scoured the island only not to find a trace of Jason, which gave credence to the possibility that Jason’s body was still in the tunnels, presumably dead from the debris that fell on him on the Friday episode.

At the end of the episode, The Chariot tarot card was shown in the spot where Jason was last spotted. The card represents “willpower, determination, and strength” or “determination, focus, and willpower.” Essentially, the card is supposed to represent a positive outcome, which was true considering Jason survived the collapse and will be back with his family and friends, albeit he’ll need some time to heal from his wounds.

    Road to His Return

In early January, at the conclusion of the moderately rated “General Hospital” 60th anniversary primetime special, it was announced that Burton would be reprising his role as Jason Morgan after more than two years away from the series as a result of his refusal to comply with the then Disney mandated vaccine requirement, with the company denying his medical and religious exemption requests. A few months later, it was revealed that he would be reprising his “Days of our Lives” character, Harris Michaels, in the Peacock original series “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” (Chapter 2).

Following his successful reprisal, the mothership series opted to bring the character to its canvas, with Burton joining the show’s cast in episodes first aired in March 2023. By December, however, the actor shared that his one-year deal with Corday Productions, the show’s producer, had been up for renewal, but the show opted against extending him a new contract. Luckily, with Burton now available, producers at “General Hospital” contacted Burton to see if he’d be interested in returning to the show, particularly as the Disney mandate had since been vacated. Burton accepted and began taping at the show’s studio in early February, with his first on-air appearance scheduled for Monday, March 4.

    Pulling Double Duty

In a statement released to Soap Opera Network, a spokesperson for “Days of our Lives” said, “Everyone enjoyed having Steve back in the ‘Days of our Lives’ family.” They added, “Although he finished taping at the end of the year, ‘Harris’ will remain on the show for many months to come.” This means Burton will not only be appearing as Jason on “General Hospital” starting on Monday, but he’ll also continue appearing on “Days of our Lives” due to the show’s advanced tape-to-air schedule.

Check out the first-look photo here for a sneak peek at Jason’s new look and to speculate what might be behind his shooting, and make sure to watch “General Hospital” weekdays on ABC. Stream Live and On Demand on Hulu.

  7. Tracey Bregman, Lauren Fenmore, The Young and the Restless, The Young & the Restless, Young and the Restless, Young & the Restless, Young and Restless, Young & Restless, Y&R, #YR, #YoungandRestless

Celebrating more than 40 years since she began portraying the role of Lauren Fenmore on “The Young and the Restless,” actress Tracey Bregman has also spoken out about the show receiving a renewal order for four more seasons by CBS earlier this week. Her comments follow those made by co-stars Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman), who are celebrating their 44th and 30th anniversaries on the show this year, respectively.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bregman thanked the fans for their loyalty to the show by tuning in every day and every year, inline with the messages posted by both Braeden and Morrow.

“We got a 4 year pick up!! Thank you to everyone who watches. You made this possible!! We and so grateful to you all. love you!” Bregman said in her tweet.

Having won the Daytime Emmy Award in 1985 for Outstanding Ingenue, a category which was later rebranded as Outstanding Younger Actress, Bregman was honored with a replacement trophy during an appearance on “The Talk” last year while celebrating her 40th anniversary on “The Young and the Restless” – Bregman’s original Emmy was lost when her home burned down during the Woolsey fire in 2018.

“I would like to present this, an Emmy for Outstanding Ingenue, but this time it’s from the people who love and respect you and cherish you, your CBS, your ‘[The] Young and the Restless’ family, and I’m so honored to be able to give it to you,” said screen partner Christian Le Blanc, who portrays Bregman’s character’s husband, Michael Baldwin.

    Emmy Category Retired

Bregman was the first-ever recipient of the Emmy Award in the category, winning it during “The 12th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” ceremony.

Starting with “The 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” the Outstanding Younger Actress category and its male counterpart, the Outstanding Younger Actor category, were replaced by a combined Outstanding Younger Performer category.

In early February, it was announced that effective with “The 51st Daytime Emmy Awards” ceremony, set to take place in early June, the category would be no more.

The changes were a culmination of depreciated eligible performers, primarily the result of alterations made to age requirements. More recently, performers needed to be no older than 18 to be eligible for a nomination. The age requirement was 21 in 2021, and before that, the limit was 25.

  10. Watched the Eva clip and found nothing wrong with what she said. She was describing her character and her character's motives. Made perfect sense to me listening to it in its raw form. Maybe if I re-listen I might not feel the same way, but thus far I heard and saw nothing wrong.

That's just my opinion, of course.

On Thursday, Disney Entertainment Television (DET) announced that it has selected the latest cohorts for the company’s Scripted Directing and Writing Programs, two of the entertainment industry’s most successful talent development initiatives.

After expanding into daytime television just last year, three program participants will direct episodes for ABC’s “General Hospital,” with other individuals positioned across Disney-owned 20th Television, ABC Entertainment and ABC Signature-produced programs as directors or writers.

Joining the “General Hospital” team are Erica Eng, Nina Kramer and Aubrey Smyth, each of whom will be shadowing and directing episodes of the daytime drama series, which recently won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing Team for a Daytime Drama Series at “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” in December. The team was represented by directors Tina Keller, Robert Markham, Allison Reames Smith, Gary Tomlin, Frank Valentini (the show’s executive producer), Denise Van Cleave and Phideaux Xavier, and a team of associate directors, production associates and stage managers.

Other Disney programming receiving program participants this year include Haley Elizabeth Anderson at “The Chi” (Showtime), Letia Solomon at “Station 19” (ABC) and Tracy Taylor at “The Good Doctor” (ABC).

Since its founding, the DET Directing Program has nurtured the careers of notable alumni, including Tessa Blake (“A Million Little Things”), Pete Chatmon (“black-ish”), Ryan Coogler (“Black Panther” franchise), Regina King (“Insecure”), Marvin Lemus (“Gentefied”), Jaffar Mahmood (“Young Sheldon”), Nzingha Stewart (“Little Fires Everywhere”) and “General Hospital” alum Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin Scorpio-Drake), who took part in the program when it was called the Disney/ABC Talent Development for Directors program in 2012.

As for the writing portion of the program, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, the DET Writing Program is a launchpad for fresh voices in television storytelling and helps diverse comedy and drama writers secure their first staff writer assignment on a Disney series.

This year’s cohort includes writers Sarah Beth Ballard, Jordan Crawford, Paloma Lamb, Naomi Lambert, Mahtub Zare Mochanloo, Elisa Oh and Jorge Thomson (Comedy), and writers Letícia Ayroza, Derek Cioch, Isabel E., Jordan Goodman, Jaleese Ramos, Antoine Perry and Rance Ward (Drama).

“It’s an honor to welcome these exceptional directors and writers into the DET Directing and Writing Programs,” said Tim McNeal, senior vice president, Creative Talent Development and Inclusion, DET. “It’s clear that this group of talented creatives will have a lasting impact not only on Disney but on the industry at large. We’re proud to be part of their journey to shape the future of storytelling.”

Sarah Beth Ballard has been selected as The Fifth Annual Eunetta T. Boone Comedy Writers Scholar, which provides mentorship from Disney Branded Television (DBT) and special staffing consideration on a DBT series. The scholarship honors trailblazing showrunner, producer and comedy writer Eunetta T. Boone, who was executive producer and showrunner for DBT’s “Raven’s Home,” among many other credits.

Rance Ward has been selected as the inaugural FX Singleton Scholar, receiving mentorship from FX and special staffing consideration on an FX series. The scholarship honors the life and legacy of legendary director and producer John Singleton. The youngest and first Black person to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Director, Singleton co-created the FX drama “Snowfall,” directed episodes for FX’s “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” and mentored many other creatives embarking on careers in television.

Notable program alumni include show creators, co-creators and showrunners such as Zahir McGhee (“Queens”), Raamla Mohamed (“Reasonable Doubt”), Saladin Patterson (“The Wonder Years,” “Dave”), Aseem Batra (“I Feel Bad”), Ayanna Floyd Davis (“The Chi”), Dailyn Rodriguez (“Queen of the South”) and Anthony Sparks (“Queen Sugar”).

Premiering Thursday, March 14, “Live with Kelly and Mark” co-host Mark Consuelos (“All My Children”) co-stars in the all-new Max original series “The Girls on the Bus,” which follows four female journalists working the campaign trail, with each of them having different reporting styles and personalities.

The story centers on Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist), a journalist who romanticizes a bygone era of campaign reporting and scraps her whole life for a shot at covering a presidential candidate for a paper of record. Sadie joins the bus and eventually bonds with three female competitors, Grace (Carla Gugino), Lola (Natasha Behnam), and Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore). Despite their differences, the women become a found family with a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town – the battle for the White House.

In addition to Consuelos, Benoist (“Glee”), Behnam and Elmore, “The Girls on the Bus” cast also includes Brandon Scott, Griffin Dunne and Scott Foley. The series hails from creators Amy Chozick and Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries”) and is inspired by Chozick’s experiences as a political reporter on the campaign bus with multiple presidential candidates.

Chozick and Plec are executive producers alongside showrunner Rina Mimoun, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Marcos Siega. Jesse Peretz executive produced and directed the pilot, with Benoist as a producer.

From Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, “The Girls on the Bus” debuts with the first two episodes of its 10-episode first season on Thursday, March 14. The remaining eight episodes will be released weekly through Thursday, May 9.

Check out the official trailer for the new series below.

From the photo above and the trailer, Consuelos appears to be portraying one of the individuals campaigning for the presidency along with Foley. No stranger to political shows, Consuelos previously starred in the Prime Video original series “Animal House,” where he played Senator Andy Guzman over two seasons of the political comedy series.

Check out a photo of Consuelos wearing what appears to be a superhero costume. A very tight one.

“The Locher Room” will welcome the latest Mr. and Mrs. Eric Forrester when host Alan Locher is joined by “The Bold and the Beautiful” stars Jennifer Gareis and John McCook on the Friday, March 1 episode of the popular YouTube series.

Earlier this month, Donna Logan (Gareis) finally wed her long-time partner, Eric Forrester (McCook), in a private ceremony at the Forrester estate, surrounded by their closest loved ones. To celebrate their happy union, portrayers Gareis and McCook will talk about the long road that finally led their characters to the alter, what’s next for the couple, and the bond they share as co-stars on the world’s most-watched daily daytime drama series.

John McCook is one of two original cast members remaining on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” having portrayed Forrester patriarch Eric Forrester since the show debuted on March 23, 1987. In 2022,  McCook won his first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. 16. JJ Bailey, Jack Coburn, The Hunting Party

NBC has given a series order to “The Hunting Party,” a high-concept crime procedural from JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn (“The Endgame,” “Quantico”), with both serving as executive producers, writers and co-showrunners.

Created by Bailey, who also wrote the pilot script, “The Hunting Party” follows a small team of investigators who work together to track down and capture the most dangerous killers the country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.

Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio behind the series, which isn’t surprising as Bailey has an overall deal there while Coburn has a first-look deal.

The order for “The Hunting Party” comes as NBC has already ordered three other pilots for next season, including “Suits: LA,” an untitled Reba McEntire-led comedy and more recently, a pilot for “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.

Marking a return to social media for the first time since 2022, “The Young and the Restless” star Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman) is thrilled over the daytime drama series receiving a pickup of four seasons from CBS.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Morrow thanked the fans for watching, crediting them for the show’s longevity. In a tweet, he shared, “Show was picked up for 4 more years……Its all because of you fans. We are and will always be eternally grateful for your incredible support! We love you.” He ended the post with a “happy face” emoticon.

Also celebrating the show’s pickup was on-screen father, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), who posted a video from the parking lot of the show’s Television City-based studio, wherein he also thanked the fans, saying, “I’m very happy to hear about the four-year renewal. I really am because in today’s world, you can’t take anything for granted and in the changing world of media, seemingly nothing is prominent, but we are here.

“The Young and the Restless” was picked up by CBS on Tuesday for an additional four seasons, which will keep it on the network through at least the 2027-2028 TV season, or what will be the show’s 55th anniversary season.

  19. To be clear, B&B didn't get "renewed" in the sense that CBS said let's negotiate a new deal in 2024. No, what happened was CBS negotiated a two year deal in 2022, but added on an option to extend it to three years if it so chose. The article above indicates CBS is looking to exercise that option. So, technically, it is "renewed" through 2024-2025. But it will still undergo negotiations in the next couple of months before it's officially renewed in the traditional sense for a period beyond next season (season 38 for the show).

  20. Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, NCIS, Tony DiNozzo, Ziva David, #NCIS

Paramount+ announced today that it has given a 10-episode series order for an untitled “NCIS” spinoff centered on the beloved characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, with Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly (“Loving”) reprising the iconic roles.

Slated to begin production later this year, the all-new series reunites de Pablo and Weatherly on screen for the first time in 10 years. The two also will serve as executive producers alongside John McNamara (“Trumbo,” “The Magicians”), who wrote the premiere episode and will serve as showrunner. Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain and Shelley Meals will also executive produce.

Following Ziva’s supposed death, Tony left the NCIS team to raise their daughter. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive, leading her to complete one final mission with NCIS before she was reunited with Tony and their daughter in Paris. Since then – and where we find them in the new Paramount+ original series – Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.

In a recent episode of “NCIS,” Weatherly reprised his role as Tony DiNozzo to help celebrate the life of actor David McCallum, who portrayed Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard on the series for 20 seasons.

“We’ve been talking about this story for many years, and now with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready,” said Weatherly and de Pablo in a joint statement. “The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter. We also want to acknowledge and thank the fans from around the world who supported the ‘TIVA’ movement for years. To this day, they say hello in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now. This is for you!”

“I’m incredibly excited to step into the NCIS universe with Cote and Michael and thrilled to explore it from a few new angles,” said showrunner and executive producer John McNamara. “Given that the franchise is such a global sensation, I think it’s phenomenal that CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the greenlight to shoot in Europe. As to the title of this series, if I told you what it is, I’d be violating the Espionage Act.”

The “NCIS” brand remains the world’s most successful television franchise. In fact, during the 2022-2023 TV season, it’s estimated that the franchise had more than 300 million worldwide viewers across all platforms, including broadcast, cable, streaming and syndication (according to Nielsen and internal data). Since the launch of Paramount+, the “NCIS” Franchise has ranked consistently among the top five franchises on the service in terms of hours consumed. In spring 2024, the “NCIS” franchise will collectively celebrate 1,000 episodes.

The Tony and Ziva-led untitled spinoff is produced by CBS Studios and executive produced by John McNamara, Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain and Shelley Meals. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
