Members Danni
I'd say that unless you know a porn star personally, you have no basis to judge. You don't know what they do outside of their work. You don't know how they live their lives. You don't have a damn clue. So, yes, your [!@#$%^&*] stinks as much as theirs do. If it "brainwashes" people, then that's the problem of the viewer not the industry. And seriously, I wonder who finds porn stars to be role models. I think that's some bullshit you're spewing because you have your own personal issues with pornography. The reality is that people are horny, and unless they're having sex, they're going to find a way to satisfy it. If by top stars you mean Jenna Jameson, yes, she makes a lot of money. But that's because she controls what she wants to do and she controls the direction of her brand. A lot of porn stars do not make as much money as you claim, and they certainly don't do nothing. Having sex on camera certainly isn't as easy as it sounds, and it's not something that just anybody ole joe can do.
Members JinkiesP
Eh, getting back on topic, sort of anyway, according to Entertainment Weekly, Shannen Doherty, will be guest hosting July 31. That should be fun to watch.
Members JER Soaps Fan
Oh my gosh, Danni, I have to disagree. Seriously, my [!@#$%^&*] does NOT stink like theirs! It's just a fact! They immediately lose because they screw 200, if not more, partners, and usually without protection. It's unhealthy and unseemly. For that reason alone -- since you used me as an example -- I totally win any competition against such unhealthy, irresponsible characters. I also disagree with the brainwashing comment. If the industry weren't there, it couldn't brainwash people. And what's with getting personal? It's not a personal issue for me. It's just been documented in surveys and news reports as pretty much a fact. Is that true for everyone? No. Certainly not. But for weak individuals? YES. And how many talk shows do we have to watch to see that husbands and boyfriends want their significant others to do things porn stars do, no matter how sick or unhealthy? When you take a 'real' act like sex and watch it every day, common sense might suggest that that's GOING to have an affect on how one perceives the 'real' world. Like on "Friends," when the writers rightly showed this very thing: After Chandler and Joey started watching free porn they were getting 24/7, Chandler began wondering why women didn't just throw themselves at him or take off their clothes to screw. It throws in that mentality, that misperception of the 'real' world. Danni, I got my figures from a top, ex-gay porn star. He said he, and other tops in the industry, made around 30K a year. And excuse me, but are we to act like having sex on camera is actually a legitimate trade just because some men may not be able to get it up under pressure? Members bellcurve
Dude, people could say that ANYTHING "brainwashes" someone. Whether or not that is true, like Danni said, it depends on the viewer. Soaps were linked to depression in some stupid Yahoo story a month or so ago. Someone could argue that watching game shows could lead to gambling. I bet someone could make a case for sports raising violent, aggressive men and women. Too much religion could make someone weak-minded and dependent on the church for truth instead of seeking it themselves. I find it interesting with all the things going on in this world, we are still worried about people's sex lives. And, for the record, porn is a Billions of dollars a year industry. Time Warner even has stakes in pornography(b/c of their cable operatives airing PPV movies and Spice/Playboy channels). The internet reaps a shitload of money from it. Adult porn will not die. Period. And why do you want to stop an industry filled with people that you think you are better than anyway? Should they be "out-of-work" simply because you think porn is an unnecessary evil? Porn is good for our society. Sex is good for our society. And when we stop treating both as a taboo issue and get real, THEN we can stop the spread and transmission of diseases and unwanted pregnancies. Members Ryan
OMG, you're going to use "Friends" of all things as an example? Friends is a fictional TV show. People who are addicted to porn do so because they are stuck in the fantasy. They are probably sex addicts to. Hmm, while we're at it, let's ban music and video gamesbecause it "makes" people violent. Oh, and let's ban TV shows as well. I mean, there's no real value to it right? Just a bunch of overpaid, overrated people who aren't aren't giving us morals right? Hey, why not lock up all of the actors and people who are involved in the porn industry. Let's send to jail all of the stores and owners of websites that sell porn. And we can't forget the companies who make the CD's and videos that the porn is recorded on. Oh, and the camera equipment that is used as well. Oh yes, let's condemn the people who do porn. I mean, they're such horrible, immoral people who are just sick [!@#$%^&*] right? What part of "these people are tested" for sexually transmitted diseases aren't you getting? I guess you would be considered a few months ago when you were "bi-sexual" right? I mean, you're going to hell because you thought you were into guys. If I was a closed-minded, extremely judgemental person who lacked the mental ability to understand the views of others, I would call you a sinner and an immoral person and all this other "holier than though" BS that other say. But you know what, I'm not. I you happen to like (or have liked) the sausage, that's your own right. I don't judge you for it because who am I to judge? There is no need to be so judgemental and close-minded JSF, especially in these days. I bet if it were up to you, all gays, porn actors, people who questioned their religion and anyone else who didn't rise above your god damn expections would be locked up. Members bellcurve
He himself would have to be locked up as well. He "experimented," remember?! Sin=Sin
Members Ryan
Oh yes, lol. Experimentation is a sin as well. Sin = Sin. Members Danni
This coming from Mr. I-change-my-sexuality-when-it's convenient-for-me? Yes, your [!@#$%^&*] stinks as much as theirs. As I said, you don't know who they are outside of their profession. You don't know how they live their lives, so as long as you are a living, breathing human being who makes mistakes, and has emotions, your [!@#$%^&*] stinks too. Just the mere fact that you take it upon yourself to act like you're better than them because of their profession of choice makes you worse. Who the hell are you to get on your high horse to judge people you don't know? It's not brainwashing people, and if they feel "brainwashed" that's the person's issue not the industry. I don't think porn stars And it's so obvious that it's a personal issue for you. Only you would classify it as "brainwashing". What's the matter? Were you "brainwashed" by porn? And oh yes, Friends is the ultimate perception of how the real world is viewed... Yeah, this is a show that's set in NYC, yet is about as racially diverse as the boonies accurately shows how men react to porn. Right... Mm-hmm. Of course, I'm referring to mainstream porn, a la Jenna Jameson, Ron Jeremy, Lex Steele, etc. Though, I would like to know who this porn star is and where you got this information. I think that it's so easy to just point the finger at those who choose to participate in the sex industry, but they do not make the consumer do anything. That's the choice of the consumer. How the consumer reacts to it is not their problem, nor should it be their problem.
Members JER Soaps Fan
Okay, so porn is good for our society just because it makes a killing? Gee, what if actual murder-for-hire became a multi-billion dollar industry? Should it then be legalized and lauded? Sex is good for our society, due to the procreation of the species. Yes, that can be argued. We agree there. But PORN? Not so much. Porn isn't "good" for any society.
Members JER Soaps Fan
You know what--and this is to ALL of you who tried to incite me when I merely stated an opinion. HAVE your free-for-all. I won't argue you with you. It seems liberals on SON never realize it but just write off everything we conservatives say as "judgmental" or "closeminded" anyway. Look in the mirror, please. Personal attacks are NOT necessary when debating an issue. I attacked NONE of you. THIS was rude. And it's over. Good day.
