Party Up!

Sitting here thinking back on my days as a jetsetting party animal (tongue in cheek) as a reckless college student, I was remembering some of the best times I've had in various cities.

What are some of the best clubs you've been to in the US past and present?

My personal favorite which will always have a special place in my heart is the late great Backstreet in Atlanta on Peachtree Street in Midtown. It simply could not be beat, and with it being a 24 hour 7 day a week joint, just the place to get a vodka and tonic at seven in the morning!

There's this place in Providence, RI called Club Hell. It's not as scary as the name seems. When my best friend turned 18 (she was the last one out of our group), we and 3 of our friends went there instead of going to our senior prom. Every Friday night is Rock 'n Roll High School where they play rock, glam, and punk rock. It was really nice. We all dressed up kind of like 70s/Studio 54 style and it was a lot of fun.

Thursdays are 80s night, but I've never been there those days.

And then there's this place in Northampton, MA (where my college is) called Divas. I went there my second night at college, and it turned out to be a lesbian club! Thus, I haven't ever gone back. I mean, I guess a lot of straight girls go there, but I just thought it was awkward because I kept having to tell people that I was straight.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.
    • The Egypt location shoot was cancelled because of the Achille Lauro cruise ship hijacking

    • And, to me it is a little bit hilarious that AW fans all over continue to refer to it as Egyptian Dust Recently elsewhere I've been running polls. When did you stop watching AW or What storyline caused you to stop watching AW. You may be interested to know that sticking it out till the bitter end is winning by a landslide. Next highest vote getter is - no surprise - Frankie's murder. So that covers like 60% & next 20%. Then the votes drop way down to 10% and well below but a wide array of reasons are given, including but not limited to  Justine Lumina Rachel having twins at her age, how ridiculous Mac's death the 90 minute show firing JC, George R & Dwyer Hmm, I know there are a few more, in the 1%-3% range but I cannot think of what they are. Sorry, my bad. Should have made notes but I didn't know I would be posting about it. LOL!!
    • A kind angel has added both episodes to the vault (UK Diva TV broadcast version).
    • Yes, I think that is the most likely situation.  TPTB were unhappy with the offer(s) they got from the tourism board in Finland, and decided the trip was going to be too expensive for P&G/NBC to finance alone.   I would also speculate a similar situation likely occurred a few years later with the planned location shoot in Egypt, which was also cancelled after the storyline had already started, and changed to Arizona.
