That's insane. I mean, you could say a lot about LW, I'm sure, but I'd never in a million years take her for being a diva BTS. If anything, I think she's the ultimate team player, willing to give 100% to the material she's being asked to play, no matter HOW awful that material might be (and let's face it, the poor dear has been handed more than her fair share of crap material over the years). The only time that I know of where she (allegedly) balked was when GL wanted to pair her Cassie with Robert Newman's Josh, who was Cassie's brother-in-law. And even then, she didn't raise holy hell about it; she just quit.

I can believe LW can be a bit much on certain issues. But if you ask around online there is this whole elaborate lore where Laura Wright made the show hire her boyfriend (Wes Ramsey), threw a fit when Tamara was rehired, made them reunite her with Jason etc etc. And I just don’t buy all that craziness. I do believe the story that they almost replaced her with Tamara in the late ‘10s when they were in negotiations, and got stuck adding TB as Kim Nero instead. But I do not believe LW is some evil queen BTS lol. And yes, she gives 200% everyday.

I don't buy it either. But, boy, am I so glad Frank hasn't thought to bring Trevor St. John onto the show, lol.

She’s been acting in soaps since the early 1990’s so she has seen it all, and I have never seen her checked out. Now I don’t think she has ever gotten to that angry grit that fueled SJB’s Carly, and they never really tried to write her that way because it wasn’t working.

I don’t think Valentini likes drama bts, and wouldn’t put up with it from her. Especially now. I don’t think anyone has any real power at GH bts except for Frank Valentini. The days of Maurice or Steve throwing their weight around are long gone.

I agree. The only people who get special dispensation (like Setton, JPS, etc.) are allowed them at Frank's behest. But favorites, like Kristen Alderson, can still lose his ear when they ask for a pay bump.

LW has never struck me as a huge diva either. She seems relatively down to earth. The only thing I will say is that her and Wes were pretty off putting while he was on the show. I get it's her boyfriend and she was defending him and all that. They both seemed kind of pretentious about the whole thing. Peter wasn't a popular character lol.

All the other rumors about her seem false, but I'd be pretty annoyed the show kept re-hiring past Carlys too lol.

I never bought LW as Carly. For some reason in the past few years she has convinced me that she is playing the same character that SJB played in the 90s. She seems rougher, tougher and less like a generic blonde soap opera leading lady.

LW is number 3 on my Carly list

It's a bit difficult for me to envision SJB playing Carly currently. LW does a fine job. I think all the Carly's were quite different and LW is #3 on my list too.

It’s hard to quantify for me because she has been Carly the longest, and she has also endured the longest run with shallow writing that didn’t really explore her properly.

To be honest nobody has ever reached what Sarah Joy Brown did for me. TB was a good recast for what they wanted at the time, but even she was pushed as romantic lead first, with a combative and antagonistic edge. SJB’s Carly was just much more complex, partly from her, partly from the writing, and also partly from the push/pull happening between Riche/Guza. There could be darkness and misogyny during their run, but it was more tempered. JFP leaned into that, and Pratt loves a trashy catfight. So the three of them setting the course in 2002 for several years really sets a tone.

With all that said, I also do not see SJB working well now. They are just so different that it is impossible to imagine. I wish they had been more levelheaded when they wrote Claudia, but that just wasn’t going to happen at that time.

I truly can't imagine SJB having a bunch of conversations in her kitchen next to her moss. I can't imagine her as Joss's mom. I can't imagine her playing the long game with Brennan or hooking up with Valentin. I can't imagine her running Kelly's. So basically I agree lol. I don't see her working well now with what Carly has become.

I could see TB stepping back into the role. She is my favorite Carly, so I might be biased. It's a shame she came back to play that dud of a character Kim.

At this point LW works with what she gets just fine. There's no need for a change. I wouldn't be against seeing what SJB could do with the role currently though.

I would just alter the character again for Sarah tbh. But I also think she's more versatile than people realize. She had little trouble playing a more upscale and accomplished character in Madison on DAYS IMO. I don't think it's that hard to fuse the Carlys. I think Sarah is more than capable of still having that grit but displaying a Carly who has become a successful businesswoman.

I have immense gratitude and respect for Laura's work in the role. She's done very well, she's underrated at times IMO (in that I personally can see the throughline from Sarah to her) and I don't think she is likely to ever be replaced. But would I welcome either Tamara or Sarah back? Absolutely. They both edge Laura out for me in the rankings. If power was no object and I thought you could get away with it, I'd bring Sarah back tomorrow. But uh, probably after an exit arc for LW because the audience would freak out no matter what lol. These current stories are not what I'd have SJB (or Tamara) step into, there would be a dividing period after Carly suffers a loss and leaves town for a month or two. And Eden would probably be gone. (And in fairness to Sarah, I cannot see Tamara with Eden, Chris McKenna or JPS either.)

You could absolutely re-work the part for Sarah. I would probably ditch Ava or Nina and give Carly a much harder edge after Bobbie dying and her failed romances.

I think Laura is a lifer by now, but if the show wanted to go with Jason and Carly again they should hire Tamara. I surprisingly liked them together on Days.
