Seems like it, for sure.
Before she went psycho, I never felt there was any real motivation for her to do the things that she had done. All it would've taken was some better plotting. Leaving the baby at the firehouse was a good example. I didn't have a problem with Sophia doing that, but I felt there needed to be a better reason why she chose to do that.
If anything, Sophia needed to be written like Jan was under Tom Langan: the scheming bitchy mean girl as opposed to the psycho that she became under James E. Reilly.
That was sort of who Madelyn (Keintz?) played the role, and it worked a lot better than it is now. So many of us were rooting for Sophia back then.
