“Days of our Lives” Elia Cantu (Jada) and Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) are no longer on contract at the daytime drama series, with their names now appearing in the recurring section following a recent update to the show’s end credits.

“We never comment on actor contract status, but rest assured, Rafe and Jada are still in Salem,” said a show spokesperson in a statement released to Soap Opera Digest on Monday. The actors join a number of cast members not under contract, but involved in hot storylines, including Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady) and Casey Moss (JJ Deveraux).

Joining the cast of the Peacock exclusive series in October 2008, after concluding his run as Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald on “Passions,” Gering most recently faced an exit from the show back in 2020, revealing in an episode of “The Cliff Dorman Show” at the time that “I’ve got a couple of weeks of shows to do.” In the months that followed, he was back on set, taping new episodes under a new contract after the series resumed production in August of that year, following the pandemic shutdown that affected TV and film production.

Cantu first appeared on the soap opera in July 2022.

“Days of our Lives” enthusiast and historian Jason47 was the first to report on Cantu and Gering’s status change.
