Although a CBS representative initially confirmed in early April that Lexi Ainsworth (ex-Kristina Corinthos-Davis, “General Hospital”) would be appearing in the May 22 season finale episode of “NCIS,” which Ainsworth herself indicated in her recent video message in response to the news of her exit from “General Hospital, Soap Opera Network has since been informed by CBS that Ainsworth’s episode will instead be airing on Monday, May 8, which is not the season finale episode of the hit procedural as originally reported.

In the episode entitled “Second Opinion,” the NCIS team works to solve the murder of a senator’s daughter who has a rebellious reputation and a large online following. Meanwhile, Jimmy (Brian Dietzen) gets competitive with an old college rival. The episode was written by Marco Schnabel and directed by Tawnia McKiernan. Ainsworth will play a character named Holly Lygnos in the episode.

“NCIS” follows a team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service who work to solve cases involving murder, espionage, terrorism and even stolen submarines with ties to the Navy or Marine Corps.

The series stars Sean Murray as NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee, Wilmer Valderrama as NCIS Special Agent Nicholas “Nick” Torres, Brian Dietzen as Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer, Diona Reasonover as Forensic Scientist Kasie Hines, Katrina Law as NCIS Special Agent Jessica Knight, Rocky Carroll as NCIS Director Leon Vance and Gary Cole as FBI Special Agent Alden Parker. Original cast member David McCallum continues to appear as Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard.

Already renewed for a 21st season, “NCIS” airs Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Youcan also stream live and On Demand on Paramoutn+*.

*Paramount+ Premium subscribers will have access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service as well as on-demand. Essential tier subscribers will have access to the on-demand the following day after the episode airs.
