Jonathan Groff (ex-Henry Mackler, “One Life to Live”) has joined the cast of “Doctor Who,” the BBC announced today. He will jump aboard TARDIS in a “mysterious and exciting guest role.”

In a statement, showrunner Russell T Davies said of casting Groff, “This is an incredible coup, and a great honour, to get such a huge star striding on to our set. So strap on your space boots, this is going to be a blast!”

On joining the series, Groff said, “I am so thrilled to jump into the extraordinary mind of Russell T Davies and watch the incredible Ncuti Gatwa soar in this iconic role!”

“Doctor Who” returns in November 2023 with three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will air over the Christmas holidays.

The series will premiere exclusively on the BBC for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Disney+ is the exclusive home for new “Doctor Who” seasons outside of the UK and Ireland.

Following his brief run on “One Life to Live,” Groff went on to make a name for himself in primetime and on Broadway, most famously when he dazzled audiences with his performance as King George III in “Hamilton.” In 2021, he received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his portrayal in the live stage production of the Broadway musical aired on Disney+ in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. The cast album won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album in 2016.

On television, Groff played Jesse St. James in the musical comedy “Glee.” He then starred as Patrick Murray in the HBO original series “Looking” and its follow-up movie, aptly titled “Looking.” He also portrayed Holden Ford in the critically acclaimed Netflix series “Mindhunter” and more recently made an appearance in the “Sex and the City” spinoff “And Just Like That…” for HBO Max.

On the big screen, Groff is best known for his voice role as Kristoff in the “Frozen” films. He also starred as the new Agent Smith in “The Matrix Resurrections,” the fourth film in the iconic franchise. Earlier this year he starred in Universal’s “Knock at the Cabin.”

    • I do get that.  I also did think Rachel was the child Kristen and Brady deserved though lol.
    •   I kinda like that Rachel's not really a demon anymore. Kristen's daughter or not, it wasn't necessary for her to be like that.  And just like with GH, we all know that Ron thinks it's funny to write the kids as nasty, obnoxious little sh*ts

    • I don't get it either.  It's just a story running in a different city about adoption with anonymous sources.  Why does anyone care?  It's not like she's outing Brook Lynn by name or even touching on her story from what I understood.
    • I loved the Andre/Nicole scene. The actors really sold all the emotions that came with it.    Sean has such chemistry with Karla and Daphne
    • I was a huge fan of RH the first few years, and I while I can't disagree about unlikeable characters, I still found them interesting. Mainly, I'm thinking of the Frank/Jill/Seneca triangle (with Rae added later). MY GOD, what a group of selfish, controlling, narcissistic a-holes. But I have to say, watching them torch their own lives over and over was pretty fascinating.
    • Old Rachel just seemed devious always with her elaborate hairstyles and snotty behavior.  I assume this girl is just a better actress or something.  They both seem to have the same capabilities, but I guess we will see where the story goes.
    • I wasn't sure what this image was at first. But now looking at rotated this way it definitely looks like two children sitting together. Maybe June is indeed related to someone on the show like Hayley.
    • Either June and Hayley or Samantha and Tyrel
    • It is also so much easier if it was the other way around… If EJ owned a pharmaceutical company. And the only way he would donate a huge training grant to the hospital is if they would do a trial of his company's new Sepsis drug.  And Bo happens to have Sepsis.  Then, it writes itself so much simpler. Also, has Kayla forgotten that she gave a magical walking drug to Sarah a few months ago?  I'd bet you could make much more money from a paralysis cure than a sepsis treatment.  And she synthesized the treatment from Dr. Rolf, so it is really Kayla's drug.  Why isn't she marketing that? Note:  I'm a realist, it is not like I am asking them to sell the Lexi angel that cures people of cancer (and head injuries)

    • 'You mean...THAT Eva.' hahahahaha. From the mouth of babes.   Lord...don't tell me this is going to be a near-miss on Andre/Dani.    And now...I have to watch the rest later. lol.
