Last week, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the full list of nominees for “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” including the Outstanding Original Song category. Receiving his first-ever nomination was multi-Platinum selling country music artist Lee Brice for the song “Pocket Change.”

The nomination stems from his appearance on the PBS series “American Anthems” (produced by Believe Entertainment Group and NBCU), which honors everyday heroes who have overcome adversity and go on to make lasting positive impacts in their communities. His original song was written alongside long-time Curb Records songwriter Billy Montana and Adam Wood and mirrors the inspiring story of Ashley Ruiz – a “hope dealer” that pays for laundry services in low-income communities.

“What can I say? I’m completely stunned,” says Brice upon learning of his nomination. “I never once thought I’d be an Emmy nominee! I had a great time working with ‘American Anthems’ and meeting such an inspiring person like Ashley really puts life and everything we take for granted into perspective. On behalf of myself, Billy and Adam, I just want to say thank you so much for this incredible recognition.”

Brice’s competition in the category includes another “American Anthems” original song, entitled “Life is Sweet,” and original songs featured on “The Bold and the Beautiful” (Everyone Dances), “General Hospital” (Darling Darling) and “Joni Table Talk” (Only Three).

The category’s winner will be announced during the Daytime Emmys Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony on Saturday, June 17, starting at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT, airing exclusively online via Watch.TheEmmys.TV and related apps.
