On the Friday, April 21, Earth Day episode of “The Talk,” Fran Drescher revealed that conversations are currently underway over a possible 30th anniversary special to celebrate the beloved sitcom “The Nanny.”

When asked if there were any plans to honor the show’s upcoming anniversary, Drescher shared, “We’re in meetings with our parent company, Sony, and we’re talking about maybe doing some kind of special or something.”

When co-host Sheryl Underwood talked about the show’s continued popularity, Drescher commented, “A lot of our audience today weren’t even alive when we were doing it initially on CBS.”

Airing from 1993-1999 on CBS, “The Nanny” followed a cosmetics saleswoman named Fran Fine (played by Drescher) who inadvertently stumbles into a job as a nanny when she’s hired by Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy, now Victor Cassadine on “General Hospital”) to take care of his three children.

Throughout the show’s six-season run, fans tuned in weekly to see if the growing attraction between Ms. Fine and Mr. Sheffield would lead to more than employee and employer.

Even though they eventually pledged their love for one another during season three, Mr. Sheffield took it back almost immediately, thereby extending the hilarity between the pair. By season five, the duo declared their love with no takebacks and finally became husband and wife surrounded by hundreds of their closest friends and family.

In the sixth and final season, now the new Mrs. Sheffield, Fran discovered what it’s like living on the other side as the wife of a rich and powerful producer who would later find additional success which required the family to move to Hollywood when one of Maxwell’s shows gets developed into a potential television series.
