Last week, “The 36th Global Film and Television Arts Huading Awards” occurred at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood, California. The ceremony honored globally recognized actors, actresses, films, television programs and producers with awards.

“All Quiet on the Western Front” won the award for Best Global Film, while Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress in a Global Film for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and Brendan Fraser won Best Actor in a Global Film for his role in “The Whale.”

In the television series categories, “Better Call Saul” won the award for Best Global TV Series and Kristos Andrews took home the award for Best Actor in a Global TV Series for his dual portrayal as Pete Garrett and Adam Kenway during the seventh season of the popular digital drama series. Mai Davika Hoorne was honored with the award for Best Actress in a Global TV Series for her starring role in the Thai drama “My Ambulance.” French director Florian Zeller won the Best Global Film Director award for his film “The Son,” which is a follow-up to his acclaimed film “The Father.”

Past winners have included Nicole Kidman, Orlando Bloom, Halle Berry and Quentin Tarantino.

This year marked the third time the Huading Awards were held in Hollywood since their first visit in 2014 and their return to Hollywood in 2016. The organization notes it was “an icebreaker tour after a gap of seven years.”

In January, the Huading Awards Group announced the upgrade of the Huading Awards brand in Los Angeles. Regarding film and television awards, the awards would be selected for “global film and television masterpieces in the same session, and the award name will be changed to Global Film and Television Art Huading Awards.” The main competition unit has been divided into two units: global and Chinese, with more emphasis placed on the selection of global film and television “masterpieces, which fully moves towards internationalization.” According to the plan, the Global Film and Television Art Huading Awards will be held in Hollywood every year in March.

Chaired by Bill Mechanic, former CEO of Fox Film Company, and former Chairman of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar Jury), this year’s judges included Robert Minkoff, Nicholas Meyer, David Russell, Herb Jordan, Kim Estes, Shelley Curtis-Litvack (“All My Children,” “General Hospital,” et al.) and Roberta Bassin.

Eligibility for the Huading Awards requires movies, TV series, online movies and dramas to have premiered in theaters, TV stations and mainstream online platforms worldwide between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.

Founded in 2007 by the Huading Awards Group, the Huading Awards aims to promote Asia’s thriving arts and cultural scene, spread Asian culture, and help bridge the gap between the Asian and global entertainment industries. For more information, visit huadingawards.com.

    • Some other thoughts on today's show. I don't care for Bill/Hayley as a couple. I think that Bill is sexy and looked good on today's show. But I don't think that him and Hayley really have any chemistry. They seem mostly isolated on the show unless someone like Dani is sparring with one of them. I do wonder what is going on with Bill's hand and why it is trembling. He is trying to keep that from Hayley. I also don't care for June right now. I like Jacob/Naomi but would rather see them do something else than what they are currently doing with June right now.  I liked Nicole/Dani continuing to support one another after the fallout from their marriages. I think it's interesting that Nicole asked Dani if something was going on between her and Andre and Dani lied about it. I do wonder if Dani/Andre are starting to have stronger feelings for each other (maybe even falling for each other a little bit). It does seem like stronger feelings are developing between them and I wonder where that may lead for their storyline. And I enjoyed Anita/Vernon as well. I like that he supports her and wants her to do the reunion with the Articulettes. It does seem like at one of them really doesn't want much to do with her after she reached out on today's show. But maybe they will reunite and there will be drama between her and her bandmates. I am interested in seeing who the show may cast as her bandmates. I hope they get a couple of good actresses in the role.
    • Looks like the Townhouse to me, I've been calling it Paulina's Townhouse (which Marlena and Kayla also use).
    • Angela Bassett was also on somewhere in 1985 wasn't she. The NY soaps did so much for struggling actors. That's one of the reasons I will never stop hoping we get more of them.
    • Oh, yeah as the episode went on, I love that they gave a plausible reason for him to back out. Most soaps who use an idea/story point to define a character would just drop it and make it seem so jarring and out of character. So I love common sense...or the SilkPress craziness...won out.
    • All these years later, and Shelly Burch is still one of the most striking women I've ever seen.
    • I really enjoyed today's show. Today was the most I have ever liked Martin. It was very sweet how he invited Eva to get to know his family. He has good chemistry with her (along with Kat). I liked how she got to know and started to bond with his family including Samantha who was understandably standoffish with her at first. I thought her styling Samantha with different looks at the end was cute. Martin's family is her family now too and I liked how he made that clear to everyone at pizza night at his home. The twins have a new Auntie.

I think it will be interesting to watch Martin/Eva bond along with her bonding with the rest of his family. And seeing how others including Nicole and especially Kat react to that. I thought for a moment that Kat might actually show up at pizza night after Martin invited her but she didn't. I also enjoyed Eva trying with Kat. They do have chemistry together and they are cute, lol. I do think they could end up being twins, but even if they aren't I still enjoy them together. Whether it's sparring or Eva trying to bond with her or whatever.
    • Hahaha. It was worth a try. Alas.
    • There were lots of spoiler pics for week of May 5-9 of Devon/Lily/Holden/Damian/Amy/Nate/Audra. I posted them on the spoiler thread that week because they all looked so pretty. I was hopeful.  Sorry to read in the recaps that it was mostly discussion of Dumas!
    • Random Hump Day Reactions Despite my better judgment about commenting on appearances—what is going on with Philip’s skin? He looks distractingly sunburned. Did the makeup team forget to use foundation? Or powder? Or that they’re broadcasting in high definition? Meanwhile, Kristen looked like the saddest Alice in Wonderland. The dirndl was cute, but everyone in that mansion could desperately use a pop of primary color—and a reason to smile. It’s one thing for Belle to be blinded by love for EJ. It’s another for her to hear him admit to kidnapping Rachel and treat it like a punchline. Overall, there's zero urgency from anyone about getting Rachel or Kat back to Salem. Most of the time, Kristen and Cat seem to forget their long-lost mothers are still being held elsewhere against their will. At least when Doc, Kayla, and Kate went missing, people cared. Paulina even talked to that urn! (Still waiting to find out who was in the urn, by the way…) Raise your hand if you believe Rachel innocently brought up Tate’s baby. If your hand is up, do not click on any suspicious email links today. You’re vulnerable. And finally, deep breaths: Jamey—or someone he edits—named the miracle drug Versavix. Fun fact: real drug names are developed by branding teams after the research is done. Versavix sounds like the draft name someone scribbled during a Red Bull crash and forgot to replace. This isn’t even a good fake drug name. It’s like they forgot that the same show once gave us a literal ‘love potion’ that made Sami fall for Austin. Versavix makes me nostalgic for the days of ‘L-dopa’ and Stefano’s mind control chips, at least they didn’t sound like a discontinued allergy medication. (crud, another day, another broken promise to stop complaining about this).
