*if* (and only if) Susan Walters is returning....

For the character of Diane on soapcentral,
there are 22 paragraphs about her death investigation plus 12 bullet points.
She was found floating in a river, and they ruled that she died from getting her head bashed in, and then they discovered that she had been injected with a drug that causes shortterm paralysis.  There were two autopsies!
https://www.soapcentral.com/young-and-restless/whoswho/diane.php

Diane's plan was to send Kyle to boarding school in Switzerland, and then to fake her death so that someone would be blamed for it, then she would secretly escape and leave town.  She would secretly find her way to Switzerland and retrieve Kyle and go live with him in secret somewhere.  It was an elaborate plan (detailed in that soapcentral bio).  She had accomplices to help her.

I cannot believe that she would have survived the faking of her death, but never reconnected with Kyle.  She loved Kyle.   Maybe she was sick, injured, had amnesia, etc, and could not get to Kyle?

How are they going to explain her being alive after two autopsies?  Did she pay off the medical examiner to say the body in the river was hers?  Did she have a body double or twin who died in her place?

Another option would be that Diane really did die way back when.  And Susan Walters is playing someone who looks like Diane?

But this is *if* (and only if) Susan Walters is returning.

Okay, I'll play along.

Perhaps if someone extremely rich and powerful was able to intercept a dying Diane and gradually restore her to health. Bonus points, if that person is a mutual adversary of both Jack and Victor. If Kyle were actually still a factor on this show, they could lure him toward his mother without giving a hint to Jack, Victor or anyone in GC.  If you're going to write an audacious soap opera story, at least give a good payoff by the end.

A casting call went out to recast Summer for a contract position.  Haven't heard anything about Kyle but with Summer returning and Kyle's cousin Allie arriving, it seems likely that we'll get Kyle for a while - either Mealor or someone new.

Agree.  And it doesn't matter if CBS or Sony or both are interfering with Josh Griffith and Tony Morina's plans.  (That is, if they HAVE plans.) Josh and Tony's names are on this crap, so they're the ones who should be held responsible.

Please let it be someone new.  And please don't let the mystery woman be Patty.  That last one cannot be said enough.

You mean, besides making voodoo dolls of everyone at Y&R who hates her?

All I see is actors talking to each other.

Why bring Summer back? She has never popped! They won't write for her.

And why do we want fan favorites back when they do nothing with the cast they have already.....

    • All I'll say is that she returns at just the right time, and she's even more entertaining when she returns than before she went away.  lol.
    • She's my new avatar on Instagram. I flove her. I'm so afraid we are going to lose her to bigger things. She also writes and directs. I predict she will be a huge star.
    • I was a bit confused with the Paige storyline at first but it's also helped that people on the board have been so kind to fill in gaps for me. It is nice to have a soap to watch again as I have not watched a soap in a very long time. It's also rare to see characters talk to each other without the scenes being cut into every 90 seconds.   That's encouraging. So far so good.    I am going to miss Raven as she added so much. I hope this doesn't mean that I'll see less of Geraldine as she is another character I'm drawn to. Hope Raven's absence is not a long one.
    • @Ryanc2 Welcome -you've got a lot of catching up to do! We talk about Derek/Ashley, but how much do we really know about Naomi/Jacob apart from they have a bedroom set to make out in? Maybe more time needed to be spent in the first months establishing them better-(give them a proper set for a start) as well as the Bill/Ted dynamic and other familial relationships and ditch Hayley/Derek altogether or make them supporting/talk to for Jacob/Naomi.
    • I’m glad we’ve spent enough time with the character to know how shed Brooke Logan her way through this.
    • Felicia becomes more layered/balanced in the early 90s (circa 1991/1992/1993).   She leans more into the more down to earth element that you like, while still being Felicia of the 80s.  The process starts in 1989.. but doesn't really become apparent until the early 90s.   Iris was the rare connector character with her having a role at the hospital (I think she's on the board), working at Cory Publishing, and having romantic flirtations/connections with a lot of the male characters between 1988 and 1994.  Which resulted in her having interactions with the other female contemporaries (Donna, Felicia, Rachel) even if the three didn't always interact with one another. Writing her off in the fall of 1994 severed one of the main connections/bridges with the different orbits.  Irony that the show didn't see her value.
    • Which is why I feel that when they do introduce that family it will more than likely be Jacob's family. Otherwise why establish them slowly but surely?
    • ROFL.  priceless.   There are also countless mentions how wonderful Claire is, but I could not stomach watching a compilation of that!
    • The air...is looooooooooong gone.
