If your fave soap's first 5 years were written/cast now...

OLTL: First up, the show would be taped in LA. Viki would prolly be cast with someone like Stephanie Gatschet or Bree Williamson with Meredith being played by Kim Matula, Finally, I see Hunt Block stepping into the role of Victor Lord. I can imagine Viki's DID would be treated with more respect and Victor's evil to be shown early on with his interactions in business and his daughters. As Carla's racial issues would seem a little passé today, possibly a story similar to B&B Maya would be done with Sal Stowers.

AMC: Kelley Missal would be the most ideal choice to play Erica Kane, an-up-and-coming Instagram model with someone like Julie Pinson to play the struggling single mother Mona. The whole Phil Brent/Vietnam story can be done with the Middle East. I would prefer someone like Mark Lawson to carry the load here.

Any other modern story/casting ideas based on your show's formative years?

Mark Lawson would be way too old to play Phil, especially with Kelley M. as Erica. I'd put Casey Moss as Phil, maybe Eric Nelsen as Chuck with Denyse Tontz as Tara. Bryan Dattillo as Nick Davis, Kate Collins as Phoebe. I'd have to think about others.

I would imagine Dr. Joe being played closer to how GH's Patrick is: Flawed, but still trying to do the right thing in the end.

I could see Ruth being written much more passively/matronly nowadays. Someone like Missy Reeves could step in.
