She was and I believe still the only actress to get six Tony Awards and was considered one of the best actresses ever, having worked with some heavyweights in the talent dept including Laurence Olivier, James Dean, Jackie Gleason. and even Boris Karloff. You don't so Shakespeare with Olivier unless you know your stuff. She is considered one of the finest actresses of the 20th century. RIP Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I hadn't thought about her in a very long time but i saw her on TCM this weekend in the movie "Reflections of a golden Eye". I was like "Is that Julie Harris?" and it was. One of my favorite Lily Mae scenes was the big block party (on the show, not the special episode in 1993) when she and Ciji sang "Will the Circle be Unbroken."
