Brilliant for them, and nice considering their earliest influences were nearly all black artists (which was true of many artists at the time).

Dusty Springfield had done the same thing the previous year in South Africa, with diffeent results. Her contracts also stated that she would only play to mixed audiences, so one night when she found an all white audience, she refused to go on. It was then made a big deal of, the rest of the tour was cancelled by the Government and she was ordered to leave the country. The Beatles at the time publicly supported her in this as well in interviews.
