Well that's a perfect example because though Aaliyah could look "hard" when she actually spoke you could tell she was actually quite a soft spoken sweet person. She looks more hispanic/middle eastern to me. And don't forget about Neil, no way Dru and Neil's daughter would come out looking like Khalil.
