Grammy winning writer, producer, and lead singer of the Chairmen Of the Board passed away yesterday at the age of 67. He wrote and produced many hits for Holland Dozier Holland's Incivtus records in the 70's, hits by Honey Cone, Freda Payne, and his Grammy winning tune:

And this is the biggest hit from the Chairmen Of the Board with General Johnson singing lead vocals:

That's a shame. I loved that Chairmen of the Board song. And the Honey Cone had some sizzling songs. Want Ads (I don't know who did that) is timeless.

Yes, Carl... he wrote, or co-wrote all 3 of Honey Cone's top 40 hits, "Want Ads", "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show", and this one:

Oh I love all those songs, I keep forgetting Stick Up was a Honey Cone song. Chairmen of the Board did Carolina Girls too didn't they? I always liked that.

Oh I love that song. I was listening to it again a few months ago. It's very underrated. As is Freda.

May he rest in peace.

I love Edna Wright's voice. She went on to do a lot of gospel with Andrae Crouch. One of my favorites:

I met her sister, Darlene Love, at church one Sunday in New York. She was decked out in a full-length whiskey mink coat which looked gorgeous against her skin. She looked like a million bucks.
