Apparently, in 1996, Mexican producer Carlos Sotomayor made an English version of the telenovela La Culpa called The Guilt.

Here is the synopsis for La Culpa:

"La Culpa" is a story of love, hate, intrigue and passion which follows the lives of two young people, Isabel and Miguel, who have fallen in love at first sight. Isabel, adoptive daughter of Mariano and Andrea Lagarde, meets Miguel son of a former boxing champion who is of middle class but with a brilliant future. When Miguel finds himself involved in an accident which kills Juana Inez, Mariano sets out to get the man apparently responsible. Isabel and Miguel are forced to leave behind the love and loyalty to their parents to find the person who is really guilty.

Has anybody heard about The Guilt or perhaps even watched it?

I remember watching it as a kid, it aired on our main station HRT. It had George Hamilton in the main role, and I remember some things about the show. I especially remember loving the show because it was different than a regular telenovela.

I don't remember anything more, only a little detail about a woman dying in a car crash after she drove away with a car that had breaks tampered with. I think it was her father or someone like that who was guilty because he wanted someone else to drive the car, but his daughter drove off instead and died.

I watched it and remember it very well.

George Hamilton was "a special guest star", his character died pretty fast.

Kendall and Hope were sisters and somehow Kendall died in a car accident that was meant to kill off George Hamilton's character. Their father orchestrated the whole accident I think.

Hope was in a love relationship with Michael Trucco's character.

Too bad nothing is really known about this show. From all axcounts, it was pretty good. Gripping.
