Members KLN
So, I'm watching the Food Network, and they keep referring to this green food item as "shallots." They look like green onions to me. Ditto that for "scallions." Are they one and the same? Do people actually call them shallots/scallions, or is it just us midwesterners who refer to them as green onions?

Members Mitchapalooza
Yes they are the same thing. They are called green onions, scallions, and shallots. Most people I knoew call them green onions, but I know somepople who call them shallots and scallions. I think most "Western" people call them green onions and "shallots/scallions" is a more eastern term, but Im not sure.
