Members dimples
What an interesting topic. Lemme give it a try... I was born and bred in Trinidad so to any forgeigner, I will sound like I have an accent . It doesn't really come out when I'm speaking standard English but you hear it a little more when I use local slang. Hence it's quite boring compared to those you will hear in other parts of the West Indies because we use a LOT of American slang as well. My preferred accents tend to be those from the other Caribbean islands, the tiny ones forming the achipelago and Jamaica in particular. Have also developed a fondness for African accents, Latin American ones and East Indian ones as well.

Members Alan
Great responses everyone. I use British slang even when I don't realize it, I just watch so much English telly its become part of my vernacular. Experts say the media has no affect on your accent but I disagree with that. Has anyone ever had any speech abnormalities? For instance when I was in 4th grade I had to go to the speech counselor because I couldn't say my 'R's properly. I'm also wondering if anyone here has or sometimes uses the 'gay' accent?
