Blast from the Past - SHOCKING Scream 2 Original Ending!

Any slasher fans out there? Scream 2 is without a doubt my favorite Scream in the trilogy. Imagine my surprise, then, when I came across the ORIGINAL ending from an early draft of Kevin Williamson's screen play!

Sidney finds herself in the theatre, just as in the theatrical cut. In this version, however, set pieces fall down around her and she finds Halley and Dewey nailed to them, dead. She also finds Cotton Weary tied up. Cotton begs for her to untie him, when her boyfriend Derek shows up and tells him not to trust him. Cotton and Derek play the game a little bit, and Sidney realizes that Derek is the killer. He encourages Sid to guess the second killer when Hallie jumps back to life and goes over to Derek, her BOYFRIEND. Turns out the two of them were in this together, having been obsessed with Sidney ever since the Woodsboro murders. As they reveal how they did everything, Gale makes her way into the theatre. Derek and Halley tell Sid there's a twist ending coming. Sid rushes to the stage door to get on stage to find Debbie Salt, who, as we know, is really Billy Loomis' mother. Debbie was working with the kids the whole time. She then shocks everyone by killing Derek and Hallie. After outlining her plan to frame Cotton, she goes to kill the girls, but is stopped when Cotton breaks free and shoots her. Relieved, Gale rushes to him and hugs him... just as he stabs her. Sidney, horrified, tries to escape and the two engage in a chase that ends in both their deaths.

That ending is RIDICULOUS. I don't know if I like it or not.

So Sydney would die? hrmmm So much for WIlliamson claiming it was intended as a tirlogy from the start. Still I kinda like how over the top it is--anything beats EITHER the original or filmed endings for the mess that was Scream 3

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Scream 3's original ending had

the girl playing Sid being the killer along with the director

, right? Yeah that was lame. If they were smart they would have made Sid the killer in the end.

I think so. Scream 3 was just too much of a comedy for me. I wish Williamson had done the whole script--I knwo the only scene kept from his treatment was the best in the whole piece--when Sydney is back on the set and it's her old house from the first movie and the killer comes--the only truly spooky scene IMHO.

To be honest i haven't seen Scream 3 since the theatres even though I have the DVD--maybe I should give it another try--I remember at the time the ending was so convulated it made no sense to me :) lol (though the ending for the dismal I STILL Know What You Did Last Summer lost me even more...)

Honestly Scream 3 only gets worse with age. The highlight for me was Parker Posey's character. The film was clumsy, silly and lacked the punch of the other two.

LOL. I actually loved Scream 3. I was surprised at the killer.

And that Scream 2 ending is crazy! I would've liked it if they had kept everything except for Sidney's death.

Who knows for sure if that was the original ending or just one of the MANY fake endings they made up to keep the ending secret.
