Another IDOL controversy

Well she, like everyone else, went on the show to get an album, and 5 years later she still hasnt accomplished that goal. No, releasing an album doesnt equal talent, but its the best way to showcase that talent to the world. If she didnt take her top off and get kicked off, no one would know who Frenchie is. Her talent hasnt done anything for her

I was thinking of Jennifer before and she's a great example of someone who used her exposure and turned it into something big.

If AI is motivated by race, I highly doubt they'd have kept a black judge on for its entire run, a Syrian judge for its entire run, and an English judge for its entire run. And I'm sure they wouldn't have allowed a black illiterate teenage mother to win the competition (FTR, I love Fantasia).

What Cheap is saying makes the most sense. In five years, the show's guidelines have changed big time. The age limitations have changed, the behind the scenes aspects of the show have changed tremendously...everything has changed.

And I don't get something. You refer to Danny Noriega as a "queer male of color," yet you act as if David Hernandez is a WASP. Hello. Hernandez.

And also for the record, I would soooo jump David's bones. Hottt.

david hernandez a WASP? Hello? He's a former stripper. Main Point: Frenchie and David did the same thing. They were paid to be nude. Frenchie gets the boot. Hernandez and that white girl Barba get to stay. The same rules should apply to everyone. I think that's an easy enough concept.

As for David, you can have him. I don't need him. :D

As for the judges, how many times has Randy Jackson complained about racism in Idol? He did when tamyra was booted. He did when Ruben was nearly booted. He did when the 3 divas (fantasia, latoya and the far superior jennifer hudson) had the lowest votes.

Just because Idol has a racially diverse judging panel it doesn't mean that behind the scenes decisions can't be racially motivated (ex. the booting of frenchie and the rejection of the black male stripper that auditioned the year ruben won).

obviously frenchie is massively talented. but the music and entertainment business is weightist to say the least. jennifer hudson, although a big girl, is a lot smaller compared to frenchie. jennifer is curvier/sexier and her weight can still be deemed "acceptable." and yet her label still keeps telling jennifer hudson to lose weight. and if you compare her first audition in Idol to now, jennifer hudson has lost a lot of weight. she's still a curvy girl, but she's shed a lotta pounds. how do you expect frenchie to "showcase" her talent when no one gives her the opportunity? the music business values looks over talent. hence britney, fergie, etc.

Dude, there are many, many ways Frenchie could get into the music business where her weight would NOT be a factor. Mandisa had weight issues and talked about them openly on the show, but she didn't seem to have a problem after she got eliminated. She put out an album, had some hit singles (in the Christian music area, at least), and makes appearances on religious-themed shows and stuff.

You do NOT need to win Idol to go on the bigger, better things.

And FYI, a WASP is a white, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant.

Uh, I know what WASP means. No wasp would ever be a stripper was my point.

As for mandisa, good for her. But for every ONE mandisa, there are a thousand britneys and fergies. looks matter more than actual talent in the music business, hence frenchie's lack of popularity while someone who can't sing like fergie and the other blondes get albums.

didn't you read the beginning of this thread? it's about his stripping. he stays while frenchie and the other black male auditioner from the year ruben won were both asked to leave because of their stripping/nudity. the rules should apply equally to everyone.

however, it's a moot point since hernandez was voted out. bye bye stripper who shouldn't even have been there in the first place!
