That Bay woman on Larry King really thinks they're going to teach all aspects of sex-education to kindergartner's with that bill....

It wasn't supposed to be FULL ON. It was supposed to be age appropriate, which I assume just means keeping your hands away from where they shouldn't be.

Isn't it a little ironic that there's a 17 year old on McCain's side that happens to be pregnant, and they're against sex education....?

I just saw that. Figures. Her older brother is Pat Buchanan.

My issue with certain members of the party is how they went after Jamie Lynn Spears for underage pregnancy, wanted her show off the air, and essentially blamed her not being Chrisitan or something to that effect. But with Palin's daughter it was okay to have her be shown at the GOP convention and it's just a family challenge. That's a double standard.

I would say hypocricy, which some of them are real good at.

By the way the line Learning about sex before learning to read? is a lie on its face.

Is that the lie? Obama said that they should have the answer to "where babies come from" in Kindergarten. Children also learn to read in that grade as well...

I've seen several references in this thread to the "outright" lies in McCain's ads. I'm not seeing any substatiated evidence to back up McCain's "lies".

Obama said it! The McCain ads are not lying.

When did he say that?

And IMO, that can be interpreted several ways. You can know where babies come from and not know how they're made.

Here's a question.

Where is McCain's plan for protecting kids against predators?

Did you not have time to read Steve's post which very clearly pointed out what was wrong with the ad? Or was it just simply inconvenient to accept?

By the way the line Learning about sex before learning to read? is a lie on its face. Also, I see you chose to break the quote:" But it's the right thing to do," Obama continued, "to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools." in a very convenient place. Was that done deliberately to leave the impression that he was suggesting what Alan Keyes accused him of doing was the right thing to do, rather than what Obama actually said which was providng age-appropriate sex education in the schools was the right thing to do?

Oh, please... http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/20...a-targeted.html

I didn't break a quote anywhere. Barry said what he said. You can't change that. As much as you say Republicans manipulate words... it seems Democrats like to ignore spoken words. Barry H. SAID that it was "the right thing to do (COMMA) to provide age-appropriate sex education..."

He said it. Not me. Click the link if you don't believe me. And a very basic fact stands... it is a sex education curriculum for grades 6-12, altered by legislation to include grades K-12. I didn't make it up... it is a fact. And Barry H. directly addresses these issues in the quotes presented in an unaltered form.

Sorry... Barry H. advocates sex education for children in kindergarten. That's the facts.

Age-appropriate is different from comprehensive...

I think this is like the slippery-slope gun banning argument. It's not just going to keep going and automatically go to the worst scenario.

Against sex ed for kindergarteners!

Against sex ed for kindergarteners!

Aren't a lot of Repubs against it in general? Like a "leave to the parent" attitude? (Obviously Sarah and Lynne Spears missed that boat)

I dont know that he has specified that, but I would think it would be something to the effect of punishing and going after the offenders. Not-- "where you shouldn't be touched" time, directly after story time, and before nap time...

I would like to actually see it posted. We have spent alot of time debating Obama's stance, but nowhere have you posted McCain's stance on the matter.

Maybe when that happens, we can compare the two plans.

While I don't agree that raising taxes is patriotic like Biden said....

Isn't it also ironic that Republicans play that patriotism card but don't want to fund what they're patriotic about?

Republicans are supporters of sex ed in appropriate grade levels.-- Middle to high school.

Sarah Palin is an advocate of abstinence teaching in schools. Although not for kindergarteners....

Assume is the right word, bandb... because nobody, not even Barry H., could possibly know what exactly is "age appropriate" -- because the bill failed to spell it out. The sex education curriculum was intended for grade 6-12... there was no curriculum designed for children as young as 4 or 5 years old. Barry H. and his bill left the interpretation of what was age appropriate to the community (non-certificated, not trained in the field) and school board members (likely non-certificated, not trained in the field).

This was a disaster doomed to failure because state government CANNOT author curriculum standards. They're not trained to do it... Barry H. is not trained to do it... he had no business being a back-seat school administrator! That has been the problem with the legislature here in my home state of California... and it is the problem liberals and conservatives alike have with No Child Left Behind -- government has no business in the classroom... PERIOD.

I think McCain is in direct opposition to Obama's k-12 stance, hence McCain's ad.....

Was her daughter home-schooled?

Sorry, I'll stop. LOL.

It's not HIS bill. He voted for it but that doesn't make it HIS. If it does, then any bill that he's ever voted yes to would make them his, which would defeat the argument that he hasn't been part of anything.
