Members Sylph
How kind of you! An update: now I'm anti-Janice, anti-Natalie, anti-Trent and anti-Kay. Too many anti's!
Members brimike
I knew about Kay - just learned about Trent. But Natalie? Why Natalie?
Members Sylph
Anti-Trent is a new thing. Anti-Natali — haven't I explained this in that other thread? I can't remember...
Members brimike
I can't remember either.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Why did you become anti-Trent all of a sudden, Sylph? You used to be one of his biggest fans... I'm a Trent fan forever. If I were a daytime writer, I'd love to have the career in daytime that he's had. I mean, working with Labine, Long, Curlee, and Bell has to be the dream of a lot of people in the industry. Members Sylph
True, I was. Now I'm not. And for a reason. True. However, it doesn't mean a thing per se. You could have been on staff of all these people and still suck.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
^Yes, Sylph, you never give an explanation for why you're not fond of any of these writers. At least with someone like R Sinclair, he gives us paragraphs worth of explantions for why he doesn't like a certain writer, and I love him for it. Members Sylph
I can't tell. Sorry.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Lame excuses....
Members Sylph
Lame or not, excuses or not... Whatever. You never tell this to Toups, though, when he can't tell you something. I just cannot tell.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I understand, unlike some, that Toups can only tell us some information and at the appropriate time. However, I don't see what's wrong for giving a reasoning behind why you aren't fond of certain writers. It's not rocket science to state the flaws in the writing that you see... Members SOAPSFOREVER
QUOTE (Chris B @ Jun 11 2008, 02:14 AM) From what I've heard Thom Racina is a bad writer, so another strike against Maria Arena Bell in my book. IIRC, he's a sci fi novelist who got his start during the 1980 strike, writing GH with Leah Laiman (another legendary hack). Why won't MAB simply bring back some of the former Bell writers? Where are all these random people coming from? Y&R was supposed to be the best of the best. Now it seems like anyone and their dog walker can be hired on the #1 soap. It's sad.Maybe none of the former Bell writers want to return to the show. Many were treated abysmally, especially under LML. Maybe they're tired of being "used and abused" and have moved on to other projects where their talents are respected. I say "more power to them." The mess that is Y&R now is of its own making. TPTB fiddled while Genoa City burned. Now they've brought in an inexperienced head writer, even if her last name is Bell, to "save" the show? Could there be a more unrealistic scenario? Plus they're hiring writers who have no history with the show, who don't know the characters or backstories, and they expect to revitalize Y&R? MAB continues to make bad decisions. If she were smart, she'd bring back every writer from the glory days of Y&R, and maybe she's tried but they won't come back. Serves the show right. Members brimike
Because it's not about the writing. It's personal. At least it was with Janice, if I remember an earlier post correctly. I get it. It sucks for the rest of us, but I get it.
Members Sylph
No, it's not personal!! It's about the writing. But if you want to live in an illusion thinking how Janice, Trent & Co. are perfect writers, I'm just going to enjoy myself enormously! Just sitting here, watching you live in "the town in the glass bubble, the one God shakes to watch it snow..." (Some Shane Black for you, brimike.) Administrator Toups Posted June 11, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted June 11, 2008 I'm sure they would love to come back to rescue the show. It's like there's a mandate at Y&R to not hire any of the old writers who left. You worked with Bill Bell? Oh we're not going to hire you. You were part of the #1 show for decades? Sorry, we don't want that. You lived and breathed Y&R for your entire writing career? Ewwwww. Yeah, makes a lot of sense.
