Santa Barbara/Sunset Beach

Sure, there are some similarities, and some of them have an eerie feeling, but I definitely won't say these shows are the same. SANTA BARBARA had the amazing Dobsons as Executive Producers/Head Writers for a long time and the show had amazing storyline. As soon as those 2 left, the show was never the same and it ultimately led to destruction. SUNSET BEACH, on the other hand, may not had the best writers, but it had interesting stories and it definitely kept me watching the entire time. I loved the show and no other soap opera came close to the way I enjoyed watching this one. It had everything I wanted to have. And yes, it seems like USA never knew how to appreciate those two shows. They were interesting and enjoyable, but sadly, they both aired on NBC, and that's what killed them. NBC eventually kills all of the young soaps they start. Internationally, SANTA BARBARA and SUNSET BEACH were the most successful soaps of all time. Maybe it's because they didn't air as long (so they were cheaper). However, I remember having both of those shows in most of the countries in Europe. They were highly successful, and it's really unfair for the USA to treat some soaps like this. These days, both SB and SuBe are my favorite soaps of all time, and they'll never be removed from that position. I'd like to watch reruns some day.
