Possible relocating

Does anyone know much about NC? I have an opportunity that I am starting to explore in my company that may involve me moving to the Raleigh Durham area. I know the cost of living is cheaper than it is in New Hampshire which is a good thing. I was looking at apartments and townhouses with jacuzzis in them with two bedrooms and baths were cheaper than my two bedroom apartment. Plus everything is included which mine isn't. I would be going down there with the same salary plus quarterly bonuses if I meet my goals could reach in the thousands of dollars.

So I am wondering, has anyone visited there before? Or live there? Where are the nicer places to live, North Raleigh is where my work would be. I am also trying to find work for my BF who is in the paving business. I am positive that he would be able to find work in a heartbeat. Is there a lot to do there? Will I get funny looks for wearing my Boston Red Sox sweatshirts or hats? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I went there for a week on a Habitat For Humanity Trip. I *LOVED* it! The weather is amazing, although in the summers, I hear its ridiculous. I'm not a big fan of heat. Haha.

The people are uber friendly. It's scenic. It's nice.

I grew up in Charlotte , NC. My sister lived in Carrie, NC for a while which is in the Raleigh-Duram-Chapel Hill area. There are several major universities in that area including Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill (Carolina). There are lots of things to do (arts, restaurants, outdoor activities). The weather is pretty good. It really is no hotter than you get in New England during the summer and with less mosquitos! The winters will be milder, but you might still get a little snow. I know several people from the San Francisco Bay Area (I live in SF) that relocated to Research Triangle Park and really love it! Good luck; I think moving there would be a very positive thing.
