No Max, it wasn't. Present age of consent laws were enacted between 1895 and 1920. I personally think 18 is even too high... I agree with the Canadian and England laws which set it at 16. It always puzzles me when people try to have sex with underage people, are they that stupid? If you are the type that feels compelled to do it with a teeanger (when your'e an adult) then move to effing Brazil or something, where the age is 13. But JFK is definately not guilty of anything like that. You might be surprsied to learn that from the birth of our country, up till almost 1900, the age of majority in the United states was 12. In some states, like Delaware, it was 7. That really grossed me out. As far all this inside JFK info, I only want to know how big his penis was

Skin... that's why I said it didn't bother me to see lip synch on TV performances, even on the Super bowl last night. TV shows have always been a place where sometimes you hear live, sometimes you hear lip synch. nobody EVER sung live on American Bandstand, but EVERYONE did on the Midnight Special... it just depended on the show, and it's budget. and on TV appearances, many times you are promoting the RECORD, so you lip synch to it, I'm totally ok with that. It's just that other than Milli Vanilli, I've NEVER been to a concert where lip synching went on. This stuff NEVER went on in the 70's and 80's, you'd be crucified in the press and not sell any tickets. and I don't think Madonna sounds all that bad live. she's not fabulous, but she's ok. But then, the live show I've seen her do was almost 20 years ago. But for a peformer to think they can demand a huge price and just their mere "presence" and the light show is worth it... they wouldn't be getting MY money. One of the best shows i've ever seen was Bette Midler, and she sang every single note live AND had a great stage show. You all of the younger generation need to demand more for your money. A good live show should look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ETIPZS073Q And i've seen people today do it the right way... Scissor Sisters for one, Josh Groban for another, Jamiroquai, heck, I don't even think someone like Adele lip synchs. and no, Michael Jackson wasn't talentless because he lip-synched, Michael was working under extenuating circumstances.. but everyone KNOWS he can sing, he's proved himself already over and over. I have a very good friend that saw Florence and the Machine last month she said it was one of the most awesome shows you'd ever see, and again, no lip synching. From last night's performance, I'm sure Kelly Clarkson would give a good liveshow as well. So there are people today doing it right, and that have real talent. Three's just a much higher percentage that doesn't, and that's sad.

I've said I hate her new song... but the show itself was impressive and well produced. they just didn't need that no talent bitch MIA on it. She's street trash, I don't know who's idea it was to have her on a show like that. I'm not so upset that you had lip synching on TV performances... but when your'e doing a concert tour, that's another story. I am so sad to see the younger posters posters talk about lip synching on tours, and just kind of accepting is as the norm. If I want to play the record and see a lip synch, I'll watch the music video. I just bristle at the lack of talent and subtance in about 80 precent of pop stars recently. when I was a kid, even the most ephemeral of teen idols like Shaun Cassidy could sing live in cocnert and sound GOOD, if you couldn't you couldn't even get your foot in the door.

And that's exactly why I would never go to see someone like that. I've been to many concerts in my life, and with the exception of Milli Vanilli (Yes, I saw them, and I was well aware it was lip-synhced, but just went to see the man candy onstage) but otherwise, everyone I've seen has sung EVERYTHING live, and if they didn't I'd be pissed as hell. And they were all very enjoyable concerts, I didn't leave dissapointed at any of them: Fifth Dimension Monkees Moody Blues Cheap Trick Mary Wilson Heart Elton John Three Dog Night Martha Reeves Linear/Mister Mister Turtles Pointer Sisters Gary Puckett Martha Wash Lou Christie Temptations Four Tops

I guess to show what I'm talking about, there is a fine line between an older artist updating their sound, but still remaining true to their style... and an older artist trying to be too trendy, and doing things that aren't age appopriate. This is the kind of thing that workd for an older female artist, IMO:- The Madonna Thread
I hate it. I admit, she LOOKS good, and dang, if someone didn't beat me to the Toni Basil comparison! LOL I don't mind light dance music, but this is far too techno, and her voice is WAY overprocessed. It certainly doesn't have the infectious hook of "Express Yourself", and the cheerleaders make it SO age inappropriate. Not that I think she should be doing syrupy standards.... Granted, Cher's "Believe" was heavily processed... but at that time, that kind of thing was not stale and overdone...and Cher is also a better singer to begin with. I'm not sure what Madonna needs, but it certainly ain't this!- The Wendy Williams Thread
Oh my!! Wendy is all kinds of mess. Look at how SCALY her legs were? And those were her feet? If I had to guess, i'd had thought they belonged to Rosey Grier. NOW... listen here........ if they do stop making twinkies, hoard some at the last minute and then sell them on ebay. You'll clean up!- What Are You Listening To?

I love that version of "Everything She Wants"... back in the day, you had to buy the 12" single to get it. the album version and radio edit didn't have the extneded bridge in the middle, which IMO is the best part. Don't ya love his Wonder woman spin at 2:00? I used to be a HUGE fan of George Michael, but I lost intrest, cause he stopped putting stuff out. It's sad what became of him.... he had so much potential to have a career like Elton, but he wasted most of his 30's and all of his 40's just BS'ing around with lawsuits with record companies, hiding himself in the shadows when he DID make a video, and when he came out in the open, he dressed like he raided Roy Orsbison's closet I don't think I've seen him wear anything but black in the last 10 years. And then of course, the arrest for jerkin in the men's room in Beverly hills... the silly queen..... "Outside" was really good, and cutign edge, turning embarrassment into publishing. But he just was out of sight too long and he lost all his momentum. Now he's a pothead in his 50's and past his prime. Sad.- The Politics Thread
It's been said that all the candidates are tip-toeing around Ron Paul, because they fear if they treat him like an outsider, and don't give him the respect he wants, that he'll go for a third party run, ensuring Obama's re-election. Opinions on this? I know many in the Republican party are scared to death of Ron Paul, and see him as a loose cannon. And one comment on the debates the other night, I am STUNNED at how the more "moderate" candidates stood there and when asked about gay marriage, extolled the virtues of "Seperate but equal". Romny baically said that Oh yes... make sure they can have these rights, and those rights, but make sure all these fags know there place, and stay there. Marriage seems like this badge of pride to them as if to say "I can be maried and you can't, so I'm better than you". I would dearly LOVE for a candidte to come along who is VERY fiscally conservative, and VERY socially liberal, and see what happens. I bet they'd roll into the white house like a sonic car hop on her skates. and did you notice how Newt lost his temper with all the gay rights questions? I wonder what Candace is thinking right now- Revenge: Discussion Thread
What a ridiculous article... and of course, he ends it with the basic statement of "If you introduce another gay character, make damn sure he's straight acting!".- Y&R: Old Articles
It's not... it's just the stupid people who did the poster originally used a different background than the original shot had, and they cut around his HAIR... so that's what your'e seeing. So yes, it's a cut and paste... but not his head on another man's body, it's his entire head and body on another background.- Y&R: Old Articles

I loved the episode tonight. It just never dissapoints. I had not expected Tyler to come unhinged like that, and I was scared shitless for Nolan. Madeline Stowe is just amazing week after week. She's a hard bitch, but there is real human qualities underneath that peeks through occasionally, when Tyler pointed the gun at Daniel, the look on her face was right on the mark. Loved that scene of her sipping Cognac at the end of the show, and did anyone notice, she was wearing something VERY similar to a Wonder Woman bracelet, it's nice that her accessories can make a statement about how bullet proof and tough she is.- The Politics Thread
Michelle Bachmann's concession speech is so ridiculous. She's of course acting like Obamacare is the most horrible thing in the world. She seems to think that if it goes completely into effect, then it would never be repealed. Well... it WON'T because people will like it. But if EVERYONE DID hate it so much and they wanted it gone... you could just repeal it at that time. So far, we have not seen ANY of these horror stories of people waiting 6 months for a CT scan or anyhting like that, and we won't because it's a supply and demand thing. If theree's more demand, we will have more facilities and such to take care of whatever needs to be done. There may be a shortage in some parts of Canada... in terms of health care practitioners and doctora and such, but people need to realize that the primary reason Doctors don't want to go to Canada, is that they don't want like a in the freaking frozen tundra!- Y&R: Old Articles
Yes, Colleen Casey is QUITE the skilled jazz vocalist. Yr9190... I'd love to see more 80's episodes, I still hope and pray to see more episodes where Beth Maitland is singing. I got one episode from 1986 where she is makingher deubt at the torchlight club, but DAMN if it didn't start until the last note of her song! Someone was late starting the tape or something. The two BIG holy grails are her singing "The Rose" with the voice coach playing the piano... and her first onstage concert duet with Damian singing Anne Murray's "You Needed Me", where she was wearing this cobalt blue tiered dress.- What Are You Listening To?

Ron Paul's newsletter from 20 years ago is now coming to light more, containing racist, homophobic, and anti-semitic columns: http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/12/the-racist-newsletters-return-to-haunt-ron-paul.php Some of these comments are amazing....... “Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks.” He's denied writing them, and says he didn't know who did.... in his OWN newsletter bearing his name? I don't believe that for a minute.- The Politics Thread
I don't think it sounds heartless... it's true. You see it all the time in the music business, if someone dies young before their time in a tragic way (Like JFK did) then they are cannonized and put up on a pedestal. If Janis Joplin had died in 1985 after she hadn't had a hit record in 10 years, she would have just been a news blurb, and not this "legend". When I said what I did about marital infidelity, I didn't mean that it didn't matter at all, I just meant that positions on policy always trump the marital infidelity. Primarily because we on the outside don't know precisely what goes on in the privacy of a marriage, heck, for all we know, Eleanor Roosevelt could have been a lesbian, and her and Franklin could have had an "understanding". If that WERE true, we certainly would never have known it. Now, a man leaving a wife because she is ill or dying, then to me, that's a diffeent story. That's a dealbreaker for me.- The Politics Thread
FDR a womanizer? But he couldn't even walk. anyway... my voting doesn't hinge on somone's fildelity in their personal life. It's nice if they are good and decent and all.... but the three of us here discussing this are all men, we all know the drill. What a president is going to do or not do is what is paramount to me. There are people in this country, primarily out where I live who have gotten screwed over and over again in the pocketbook because they are dazzled by Republican candidates' stand on Abortion and gay marriage and stuff like that. for me, financial policy trumps all else when deciding what candidate to vote for.- The Politics Thread
