    INT. BAUER KITCHEN - DAY

Rick stands at the stove, taste testing his homemade BBQ sauce when Ed emerges into the kitchen sporting a white chef's hat and an apron that reads, "FATHER OF THE COOK." Rick bursts into laughter at the site of his father.

Ed: So I am assuming you don't like it?
Rick: Not really. You look pretty silly.
Ed: Well at least I won't be alone.

Ed slaps a chef's hat on Rick's head also.

Rick: Are you kidding me? I am not wearing this -- this thing.
Ed: Of course you are. And you're going to wear it with dignity.
Rick: I don't think wearing this monstrosity on my head will make me feel dignified.
Ed: But you will. Oh and here. (pulls an apron from his back pocket and hands it to Rick) You are going to need this as well.

Rick is speechless and worried what the apron might say. He unravels it and is taken back. He shows the apron to Ed.

Rick: Kiss the cook? Dad, that is umm...pretty generic.
Ed: Well there is a reasoning behind it.
    Rick: Please share.
Ed: With all these available women showing up at the cookout, maybe one will take you up on the offer and kiss--
    Rick: Dad!
Ed: Come on, Son. Let's be serious. When was the last time you were with a woman.
Rick: Not too long ago. I was married to Beth.

Ed joins Rick at the stove overlooking the BBQ sauce.

    Ed: I wouldn't've call that a marriage.
    Rick: Whaddya mean?
    Ed: Nothing. Nothing at all.
Rick: You put it out there already. Share. Since you know so much about marriage.
Ed: I didn't say all of that.
Rick: But that was what you were implying. What was so wrong with me and Beth?

Ed looks into Rick's eyes. He is concerned that telling him the truth might upset his son. But, on the other hand, he knows that it has to be done.

Ed: The truth is that, there WAS or NEVER will be a you and Beth. Beth will always be in love with Phillip or Alan or whoever else is the man of the hour.
Rick: So what? Beth never loved me?
Ed: Loves you, yes. Ever in love with you, no. You've always fought to be with Beth but in return she has never fought to be with you.
Rick: I thought you liked Beth?
Ed: I do. But let's be honest, Beth has really just been using you. And I just never understood how you left Mel to chase a dream you have had since you were a mere teenager.
Rick: It wasn't a dream. Beth and I did love each other at that point.
Ed: No you weren't. You two were seeking comfort from elsewhere. Beth, from dealing with Alan and you, from dealing with Mel being upset about the Ross accident.

    The phone rings.

Rick: I'll get it because I am over this conversation.

Rick goes to answer the phone.

    Rick: (on phone) Hello?....Hi Michelle!

Rick shoots a look at Ed before going back to talk to Michelle.

INT. SPAULDING MANOR - DAY - ALAN'S ROOM

Alan stand in front of the mirror examining himself. He likes what he sees and pops a cigar in his mouth. As he is about to light it, Alexandra bursts into the room.

    Alan: What now Alexandra?
Alex: Just checking to see what is taking you so...(distracted by what he is wearing)...Alan...why are you wearing a tux to cookout.
Alan: More like my funeral. Me, in a room with a bunch of Bauers spells disaster.
Alex: Well you are still going. Everyone is going to be there. I even heard Mike might make a surprise cameo.
Alan: Great. That man gave me hell when I was married to Hope and now I have to deal with him being at the BBQ?
Alex: Oh Alan. You are being dramatic. I am sure that Mike's opinion of you have changed since then.
Alan: Yeah. I am sure he hates me worse than before. Especially with the feud I had with Rick.
Alex: Just be polite...even though that is hard for you.

Alex snatches the cigar out of his mouth and tosses it into the trash. Alan is stunned by this action.

Alex: Now hurry up. We'll be down in the limo waiting you.

Alan releases a big sigh as Alex exits the room. Suddenly the phone rings.

Alan: Hilda! Hilda, get the phone

    No one answer.

Alan: Damned hired help. They just don't seem to help anyone anymore.

Alan walks over to his nightstand and picks up the phone.

Alan: Hello...(rolling his eyes)...slow down, slow down. Now what do you mean he is headed back this way?...But I thought I told you to do whatever it took to keep him from ever coming back home...Don't worry about it, I'll handle it.

Alan slams the phone onto the receiver and proceeds with opening the drawer on his night stand. He sticks his hand inside and pulls it out to reveal a .45. He sticks it into his jacket and exit the room.

    EXT. BAUER HOME - DAY

Hidden amongst the branches stands Alan Michael watching Rick and Ed from a window nearby.

    Alan Michael: Home, sweet home.

Luke sighs and places the grocery bag in armchair. On the coffee table lies a stack of mail, which Luke eyes. Exhausted, Luke drags himself over and plops down on the sofa before grabbing the mail.

    Luke: (going through mail) Bill . . . bill . . . Another bill . . . (sarcastically) Oh! A student loan for Noah! . . . bill . . . (stops on the last letter) Can't be?

    Emily: Sorry about the party.
    Paul: It's fine.
    Emily: No! It wasn't.
    Paul: It was.
Paul stops and pulls Emily close, staring into her eyes lovingly.
Paul: It was. The awkward silence was a bit weird but it was fine. More than fine. It was perfect.

Emily and Paul lean in for a kiss when,

Henry (OC): Meg! You made it!

Paul and Emily look over towards the door to see Meg standing in doorway. The sight of her makes Emily sick.

    INT. MONA LISA

Holden has now joined Adrienne. The two are enjoying themselves, laughing.

Adrienne: . . .And my father caught Bradley hiding in my closet naked!
Holden: (laughing) Gosh. . . that Brad was a mess.
Adrienne: Yeah. He was. (hitting her) I still miss him. No other man has meant so much to me like Bradley. Don't think another will. . .
Holden: I understand. Young love. We think that it'll stand the test of time but it doesn't. Reality sets in--
Adrienne: And people change. Just hate how things ended between us. . . how we never stayed in touch.
Holden: Well I'm sure that Brad is looking down from Heaven and wishing the same.
    Adrienne: Yeah. . .
Holden: (getting up) Well thanks for having dinner with me.
Adrienne: (grabbing him by the hand) Wait! (pulling away) I mean, what about a night cap? A drink? How about it?

Holden is a bit conflicted -- struggling between yes or no. Then,

Holden: You know what . . . sure. Let's have that drink.

    EXT. FAIRWINDS (BACKYARD)

We come in on Lisa and John slow dancing together to Midnight Star’s Slow Jam.

Lisa: Who would’ve thought that the two of us are having a good time at this party?
    John: I know right.
John spins Lisa out and then back in towards him.
    Lisa: Just look at them.

A shot of Meg and Emily exchanging words with Paul standing between the two, over it.

    Lisa: Young. . . miserable . . .
John: That was us about 40 years ago.
Lisa: Speak for yourself. That was 40 years ago for you. Ten years ago for me.

Lisa and John share a laugh.

    John: Still the same Lisa.
    Lisa: Always.

They continue dancing. Unbeknownst to the two, Lucinda watches on fuming from a far.

Nearby, Mo and Casey are slow dancing too; however, Casey is distracted by something.

    Mo: Casey?
    Casey: Huh? Oh. Sorry.
Mo: Are you still upset about Allison? I mean if you wanna go make up with her—
Casey: I don’t. Trust me. That door is closed forever. . . (holding up Mo’s chin) . . .and a new one is open.

Casey leans in and kisses Mo passionately.

We move onto Jami and MJ dancing. Suddenly, Allison taps MJ on the shoulder.

    Allison: Can I cut in?
    MJ: Well—

Before MJ can answer, Allison finds a way to edge Jami out the way and dance with MJ. Allison rests her head on MJ’s chest, closes her eyes, and smile.

MJ glances over at Jami, who is in total disbelief,

Meg: Barbara and Henry did. Is it a problem, Emily?
    Emily: Clearly it is.
    Meg: Why?!
Emily: The way you’re dressed for starters. . .
    Meg: It’s a dress!
Emily: Honey, you can’t kid a kidder. This stunt you’re pulling, I’ve done it a million times.
Meg: Oh. . . we know.
Paul: Ladies, c’mon. It’s my birthday. Can’t we put our differences aside for once? Plus, Eliza is here, Emily. She’d want both of her moms here.

Emily nods in agreement while this statement sends a chill down Meg’s spine—not a good one, yet Meg feigns a smile.

Meg: How about a drink then?
    Emily: Most definitely.
Meg: Then I’ll go get them. Merlot?
    Emily: Ooo, yes.
    Meg: Be right back.

Meg walks off for the refreshment table.

Emily: At least little Miss. Cornfield knows her wines.
    Paul: Emily. . .
    Emily: Just saying.

    CLOSE UP

Meg unscrews her vial and drops with white substance into Emily’s glass.

Meg: Bi*ch. . . You can kiss Paul and my daughter goodbye.

Meg grabs the glasses and heads back towards Paul and Emily. She hands Emily her glass first. Then Paul.

    Meg: To new beginnings?
    Emily: I don’t know about—
Paul: (elbowing his wife) Yes, new beginnings. For Eliza.
Emily: (sighs) Fine. Only for Eliza.

The three clink their glasses together before Emily quickly downs her wine.

Meg: (taking a sip) Jesus. You were thirsty, Emily. You didn’t leave a drop in the glass.
    Emily: It was much needed.
Meg: (thought) Oh bi*ch whatever. What I need right now is for a bus to run you over; however, I’ll settle for something less. . . the demise of your marriage. . .

Meg smiles at Emily. Emily is taken back by this and hesitant at first before smiling back.

    INT. WSPR - DAY - HOLLY'S OFFICE

Holly sits back in her chair, exhausted as Dinah and Blake continue to sling insults at one another. Tired, Holly slams her fist on the table, regaining control of the room.

Holly: Ladies! Enough is enough. (pointing the chairs in front of her) Have a seat.

Dinah and Blake do as they are told.

Holly: Now look, Blake, I thought you wanted nothing to do with WSPR?

Blake: At first. But I had a change of heart.

Dinah: Of course, when you discovered that Holly was going offering me a position.

Blake: Oh Dinah, get a grip! Have you not learned that the world does not revolve around you?

Dinah: Unfortunately not. You don't even have the skills to be a good anchor.

Blake: How hard can it be to read off a teleprompter?

Holly: Ladies. Stop! I've made my decision already...You're both hired.

    Dinah & Blake: (bewildered) What?

Holly: I am hiring the both of you. Blake, you will bring in viewers due to--

Dinah: Being Roger Thorpe's daughter, having that sham of a marriage to my father, and those trashy novels you write.

Holly: No...but her fame from her best-selling novels will bring in viewers. And Dinah, your hard journalistic talent will--

Blake: Send people to a competing station when they learn that their anchor married her co-anchor's father for her trust fund, then the son of her husband before killing him in cold blood...

Dinah shoots a cold stare at Blake.

Dinah: I loved him, Blake. I loved Hart with all of my body and soul.

Blake: Yeah but you killed him. So I really don't qualify that as love.

    Holly: (holding her head) Girls...

Dinah: You know what, I am not going to sit here and let you dictate my feelings for Hart. Because if you wanna get dirty we can get dirty. Your history is no cleaner than mine.

Dinah gets up and head for the door. She stops for a second and turns around to add one more thing.

Dinah: Holly...I want you to know that I accept the job. I'll be in tomorrow.

Dinah rolls her eyes at Blake before slamming the door behind her. Blake sits in the chair fuming.

Blake: (to self) Damn her. (to Holly) YOU CAN'T HIRE HER!

Holly: Too bad I only take what you say so lightly.

Blake: Mom, Dinah Marler will drop the credibility of this station down.

Holly: No she won't. If anything, you two together will draw in huge ratings. Oh and when you two join up Reginald, the male anchor I hired, the ratings will zoom through the roof. This is going to be a good year for WSPR.

    And on Blake annoyed,

Lucinda: I can. Stocks are dropping and I have to let one of my subsidiaries go. Intruder is the one I have to drop.
Emily: This has something to do with me and Paul, right? He's the CFO and he's advised you to do so after what happened.
Lucinda: What are you talking about? I have no clue nor do I care what goes on with you or Paul's personal lives. This is something we've been deciding for awhile.
    Emily: So Paul does know?
Lucinda: Yes, but this has been a decision in the making for awhile, darling.
Emily: OK. Without a primary backer--a publisher, we're screwed.
Lucinda: Oh darling. . . You're reading too much into this.
    Emily: I don't think I am!

Emily gets up and starts to pace, frantically.

    Lucinda: Darling, could you listen!

In walks RACHEL CORY HUTCHINS with CASS WINTHROP.

Ryder: And where are you going to stay?
    Christina: Here.

    Ryder jumps from the sofa.

    Ryder: Oh no. H*ll no!
Christina: C'mon, Ryder. Only for awhile. At least until the next semester starts at Oakdale U.
Ryder: No! And while we're on the topic of school, what about Berkley?
    Christina: What about it?
Ryder: So you're not going to school?
Christina: Not now. I took the semester off.
Ryder: Have you even figured out how you're going to pay for school? Huh, Chrissy?
Christina: Yes. I have the college bonds from Grandma Nancy that I haven't cashed yet. I can use those to pay for the upcoming semester, and apply for scholarships for the remainder of my time. If you're trying to imply that I need Mom or Dad, I don't.

Christina gets up and opens the door and grabs her suitcases.

    Lucinda nods.

Emily takes Rachel hands and shakes it firmly.

Emily: (eager) So glad to meet you. So glad to be working with you.
Rachel: (doubtful) Sure you are. . . Now that the introductions are done and over, let's get to business.

Rachel: No need. What I have to say is short and sweet.

    Everyone is rapt in attention.

Rachel: She'll be assisting you, Mrs. Ryan as we transition the Intruder from a smut rag to an interactive newspaper that will trailblaze all news and media into the future.

Emily: Seriously, Lucinda! After all these years—

Lucinda: Darling, it had to be done, and I cannot help that Rachel Cory wants to appoint her step-granddaughter as co-editor. . .

Emily: What you could’ve done was given me some sort of warning! And why the h*ll do I have to be demoted to co-editor?!

Lucinda: It’s hardly a demotion. You still have power.

Emily: (sarcastically) Oh yes. I still have power. . . shared power!

Emily starts to pace the floor—a total wreck. She can sense her world starting to crumble around her. Lucinda, watching on, picks up on Emily’s misfortunes. She reaches out for Emily, and

Lucinda: You should be happy. Take it as a blessing. You being co-editor allows you to have free time with Daniel, fix your marriage with Paul. . .

Emily: Clearly you’ve been living under a rock, but there is nothing to fix with Paul. He wants nothing to do with me, and honestly, I am at the point in my life where I am done fighting for men.

Lucinda shoots a side eye at Emily. She finds this hard to believe.

Emily: Yes, I said it! Emily Stewart is done chasing after men, and being with men who have out the world expectations for me. . .

Kim: Honey, maybe I should do it.

Bob: No, Kim. I got it. Now tell me if the star is on straight.

Kim: It’s not. A blind man could see that.

    The doorbell rings.

    Kim: I’ll get it.

Kim puts down her glass of wine and goes to open the door.

    Casey: What? Is it me?

Mo: No. (off Casey’s uncertainty) H*ll no! I just can’t do this.

Casey: Then I’ll wait. One thing I don’t want to do is rush another relationship.

Mo: Would you do that for me?

Casey: Yes. As crazy as it sounds and as much as I want to pounce on you, I respect you. . . I’m falling in love with you.

Mo is overcome with emotion, then:

Mo: Me too, but I just don’t want to hurt you.

    Casey: You won’t.

    Mo: Casey, but—

Jami: (barging in) Mo! (taking notice) Oops.

Mo: (buttoning shirt) Yes. Your bad. (scooting off bed) What’s wrong?

Jami: (pointing to Casey) Your ex!

Tired and moody, Jami tosses her backpack on her bed. She sits on the bed crossing her arms.

Mo: Ok. . . not to be rude, but can you go be moody somewhere else?

    Jami: Mo!

Mo: What?! Don’t you see that Casey and I were having an intimate moment?

Jami looks over to see Casey waving. Jami scowls. Mo, on the other hand, grins and blows kisses.

Jami: Can’t you both hear me out?

Mo: Sure. After we get done.

Jami: Monique, do you have to be so crass? Do you have to think with your vagina instead of your heart?

Mo: I’m not being crass. And he is my heart.

Casey smiles. He then gets up and joins them.

Casey: It’s alright, Mo. Jami, what has she done now?

    Jami: Well—

Mo: No! H*ll no! I don’t wanna talk about that tramp, Allison. Not on Christmas Eve. It’s bad enough that I’m not home from Christmas, so could I at least have a good day with my man and best friend without hearing her name! Jesus!

    Jami: What’s bothering you?

Mo: Everything. Me and you. Our lie!

    Casey: Huh?

At this moment, MJ comes up to their door and stops, listening in.

Mo: As your best friend, I’m going to take a stand and do what’s best for you. You need to tell MJ that you have feelings for him just like you need to tell Casey that you’re related to him!

Casey: Cousin? Are you two serious? (nearly hysterical) This is joke, right?

MJ: I’m thinking the same thing.

Mo: It isn’t! When was the last time your family has really heard from Sabrina? Seen her? Know what she’s been up too? Huh?

    Casey ponders.

    Mo: Exactly!

Jami: She’s not lying. If you don’t believe us—

Casey: Oh, don’t worry. I’m questioning it.

Mo snatches Jami’s phone from her bag and hands it to him. The phone is on the contact that reads “Mom” with a photo of Sabrina.

    Mo: That’s your aunt, right?

Mo pushes the dial and speaker buttons and the phone rings.

Jami goes for the phone when Casey snatches the phone.

Frannie (V.O.) Sweetheart! I was wondering when you were going to call home. Merry Christmas!

Casey holds out the phone to Jami with a look of determination—a dare to see if she’ll prove her own accusations.

Jami: Hey, Aunt Frannie. Merry Christmas to you too. How is everyone in London?

Frannie: Great. Andy and I took your mom and brothers out to eat. She wanted to hop on the Eurostar and head to Paris to see you, but Andy handed her the card that you sent earlier saying that you and Monique would be in Athens. Took us hours to reassure her you’d both be fine. How is Monique by the way?

Jami: She’s doing great. Right here beside me listening on.

    Mo: Hi, Ms. Hughes.

Frannie: Hey, baby. And don’t worry. Your mom is doing great too. . . Anyways, how is Oakdale? Mo, I’ve received your last email telling me that you’ve fallen for my nephew. A real cutie, huh?

Mo: (looking at Casey) Yep. He doesn’t know how much he means to me. . . A real Christmas miracle if you asked me.
Frannie: Aww. How sweet. If only he knew how you really feel.

Casey is a mixed bag of emotions—angry, confused, saddened.

Casey: He does, Aunt Frannie! Just like he knows that Jami is a Hughes.

    Frannie: Casey?! Casey—

MJ intervenes ends the call. Casey wipes the tears from his eyes.

    MJ: Point proven.

    Casey turns away in disbelief.

Mo: Now what? You wanna take back what you said, Casey? You wanna go tell everyone? You wanna peg me as a liar like Allison. Go ahead.

Jami: (to Mo) Haven’t you done enough today!

Mo: I’m just getting started. Might as well as things are about to blow up!

Emily: Help me? More like dictate.

    Samantha: I beg to differ. . .

Emily: Well I don’t! If you think about it, I’m not an equal to you. As much as you sit here and try and reassure me otherwise, that isn’t the case. You’re a Cory. Your family now owns this paper meaning you have the real power. I’m nothing but a figurehead. Classic nepotism if you ask me!

Samantha: Do you think my grandmother is like that?

Emily: Didn’t she just appoint you to co-editor? A position that should not be held by someone that has probably graduated from college a few weeks ago?

Samantha: Ouch. But I guess I deserved that. However, I can reassure you that she won’t decide with me just I am a Cory.

Emily: Whatever! I’ve heard how close your family is!

Samantha: Then you need to go check your sources again because my family is just like any other family. We have rifts, and everyone isn’t that close.

Jami: You know that my mom left Oakdale for Montega, correct?

    Casey: Yes.

Jami: Well that’s true. Now her spending all those years there was a lie. She met my father there. He was a young law student helping restore the country like she was. They had a May to December romance resulting in them eloping. Knowing how Grandma and Grandpa weren’t big fans of her last relationship. . .

    Casey: Tonio Reyes?

Jami: Yes. She decided to keep him a secret for a while. They had me and my brothers, and we moved to Los Angeles where my dad got a position as in a top law firm. He worked his way through and became a partner, but unbeknownst to my mom, he had been doing shady business dealing with some men from Montega. Drug and mob related activities. Things went array. A rival mob family had a hit on my dad, and when my mom learned the truth and fled to Europe with us to avoid being killed.

    Casey: Wow. . .

Jami: She didn’t want us to have contact with my dad either—something I can totally understand. We eventually settled down in London and that’s where we’ve been.

Casey: But why didn’t she inform us about you all?

Jami: Embarrassed. She didn’t want to bring the family anymore grief. That along with her worrying about the rival mob family eventually targeting you all. She doesn’t even know I am here. If she did, she’d blow a gasket out of fear that my dad will contact me or I’ll become a target to his old foes.

MJ: How long have Frannie and Andy known?

Jami: Aunt Frannie has always known. She was the one helping us move around. Uncle Andy didn’t learn the truth until leaving Oakdale and taking a photography job abroad. He wound up in London and learned the truth. There you go. Happy?

Holly: That's the reason she is here. I want Dinah to join the new team of anchors.
    Blake: What?!
    Holly: Yes.
Blake: Mother, are you crazy? Dinah is all shades of controversy. Do you think the sponsors really want to invest in a two time killer? She killed Hart and now she is on trial for killing some Edmund look-a-like.
Holly: She is innocent until proven guilty, Blake.
Blake: Guilty my behind. I can tell you now that gun wielding Dinah was behind this man's death.
Dinah: Can you two just stop for a second?
Holly: (to Dinah) Hold on a second, honey. (to Blake) Why don't you think Dinah is good enough for the position? Do you know someone who could do it better?
    Blake: Actually I do.
    Holly: Who?
    Blake: Me.

    Dinah burst into laughter.

    Dinah: Are you serious?
    Blake: As a heart attack.

Blake and Dinah argue amongst each other like the old times. Holly watches on grinning from ear to ear. I think Holly might be onto something....

    And on Holly grinning,

    INT. MONA LISA - DAY

Carter grabs a faint Lisa before she falls do the ground. Scott rushes over to a table nearby and pulls out a chair while Carter drags Lisa to the chair, seating her.

Lisa: (faint) Scott? Is it really you?
    Scott: Yes, Mom.

Carter comes back to them with a glass of water. He hands it to Scott, who is now kneeled next to his mother. He holds the glass while Lisa takes a sip.

    Scott: You all right?
Lisa: I will be . . . (strokes his face gently) So glad to see you . . .

Lisa then strikes her son across the face. Scott holds his face, which stings. Carter is stunned. Lisa jumps up and hovers over her son.

Lisa: How dare you! How dare you do this to me!

He is abruptly interrupted by a knock at the door. Aggravated, Henry opens the door to reveal his younger sister, CLARK COLEMAN.

    Henry is speechless.

Tom: Do I look fine? (off Casey holding his hands up for mercy) Sorry.
Casey: No problem but does this story even has any truth to it? I mean we haven't seen or heard from Uncle Scott since I was child. You sure Emily isn't fabricating this to p*ss you off?
Tom: No she isn't. For once she isn't lying in that rag she calls a paper.
Casey: (confused) So then I don't get while you're mad at Emily . . .
Tom: Because she's ruining my campaign! Don't you see it!
Casey: Dad, I doubt anyone is taking Emily or her paper seriously. Her past isn't squeaky clean either . . .
Tom: But when you're running up against someone with a stellar track record such as Carter Wallace--
Casey: Dad, you need to chill.

Casey goes and sits on the sofa. He pats on it to indicate he wants Tom to join him, to relax. After fighting it, Tom gives in.

Casey: Dad, you have a stellar track record too.
    Tom: I do but--
Casey: Not "buts." Who cares that you left mid office almost fifteen years ago? That was then. This is now.

    Margo rushes in breathing heavily.

Margo: Oh honey! There you are. (rushes over and kisses Tom) I went by the campaign office and Bonnie told me everything. (calming down) You OK?
    Tom: Not really.
Margo: Don't worry, honey. We'll figure this out--me, you, Bonnie, Lisa--

Clark: I just need a place to stay for a few nights--

Carter searches for the right words, but before he can get them out, Lisa pops him in the face. Carter now holds his face, shocked.

Lisa: Now I see why you were using me--getting close to me. You wanted to stick it to me and Tom. (pointing to Scott) And he's the best way to do so?
Scott: He didn't even know I was related you to until the night I arrived in Oakdale.
Lisa: Oh really? So how do you two know each other?
Scott: We met awhile back in Somerset. I had a small practice there, he was there visiting--
Lisa: So you two became buddies and decided to come here and run for district attorney?
Carter: No! I didn't even ask him to join me until weeks after I decided to come to Oakdale.
    Scott: Exactly.
Lisa: (stewing) Oh OK . . . So Tom knew you were here?
Scott: Yes. I've been here since Christmas.

    INT. TRISTA'S DORM - DAY

Trista studies three outfits that she had lied out on the bed. Daisy eases into the room. Trista turns around acknowledging her.

Trista: Hey you. Where have you been?

Daisy: I had to run to the store and grabs some items for my Grandma Reva. I just came by to change before I headed over there.

Trista: But I thought you were eating at the Coopers -- I mean your Mom's house?

Daisy: I was but I changed my mind. I might just come over there later on.

Trista: (whining) Why? I wanted you to come with me.

Daisy: For what? Rocky's going to be there. And my family practically loves you. My Grandpa Buzz can't stop talking about how your studious ways have rubbed off on Rocky.

Trista: So what. I still want you come. We barely even hang out. You are always with James...

Daisy: ...and you are always working at Company.

Trista: See. More reason for you come with me.

    Daisy: Trista...

Trista: Daisy, come on. It's not like I am holding a gun to your head. I am just simply asking you to come to the Coopers with me.

Daisy: But I can't. I already told Grandma Reva I was coming.

    Trista: Ugh...

Trista tosses her hands up in defeat. Her computer bleeps as she receives an e-mail.

Trista: I'm not giving up, Lemay. Hold that thought.

Trista heads over to the computer and checks her mail. Meanwhile, Daisy glances over Trista's outfits lied out on her bed.

    Daisy: The blue sweater top.

    Trista: (still typing) What?

Daisy: The blue sweater top. With the black slacks and black platform boots. Wear that.

Trista: Thanks. I was leaning towards that outfit.

Daisy: Glad you were because you are going to wear with me to dinner.

Trista snaps her head back at Daisy, thrilled.

Trista: You are going to the Coopers?

    Daisy: Nope.

Trista drops the smile back into a frown.

Daisy: You are going with me to the Shaynes.

Trista: Wait, wait... what? I can't. What about--

Daisy: Rocky, will understand. As a matter of fact, we'll do both. Go to my Grandmother's first and then hit up my Mom's. Problem solved.

Trista: You sure -- that Rocky's feelings won't be hurt?

Daisy: Positive. Leave it to me.

Daisy whips out her phone and starts to dial.

Frank: No way. They are about to start the play. Whoever is calling will call back. I'm sure its not that important.

    The phone rings again.

Harley: (O.C.) Frank! Rocky! Get the phone! We're trying to set up in here! Geez.

Rocky unwillingly gets up and answers the phone.

    Rocky: Hello.

Daisy: Hey to you too, Rocky.

    Rocky: Oh, Daisy, sorry.

Daisy: Let me guess... the game is on?

Rocky: Yeah. (turns his attention back to the TV) I just don't wanna miss a play...

Daisy: Then I'll cut it short. Trista is coming with me Shaynes. We'll be over there later on, got it?

Rocky: (still watching TV) Yeah. What you said, Daisy.

    Matt: Nice day, Quint, huh?

Quint: It is. Nice breeze. Something you can't expect to get on an archeological dig in Afghanistan, and something I missed greatly about being in Springfield.

Matt: Glad to have you back.

Matt raised up his wine glass.

    Quint: Glad to be back.

Quint and Matt toast, but this happy moment is ruined by:

Nola: (O.C.) I like it there, Vanessa!

Vanessa: (O.C.) Whose house is this?

    Matt & Quint: Dear God.

They turn to see Nola and Vanessa facing off.

Nola: This house belongs to the family. Nowhere in the will did Henry state, "This house belongs to Vanessa and Vanessa only."

Vanessa: But who has been living in it? Taking care of it?

Nola: That was then. This is now.

Vanessa: And now I am going to rearrange this silverware to the way I like it!

Vanessa rearranges one of the utensil settings.

    ON MATT AND QUINT

Matt: I see its about to get nasty. Should we go and break them up?

Quint: No, NO... Just let them fight it out with its still fresh.

    BACK TO VANESSA AND NOLA

    Nola: What are you doing?!

Vanessa: Everyone knows that this spoon and this fork are not positioned next to each other, Nola.

Nola: Like I could give a damn. If it was up to me, we'd all be using one fork and spoon.

    Vanessa: (gasps) How barbaric!

Nola: How normal. How frugal. How--

Maureen joins them on the patio, upset and bothered.

Maureen: Mom, I cannot believe that you won't let me go and eat with Clarissa. It's so not fair!

Vanessa: Maureen, don't start with me. You still know that you're grounded for piercing those ears.

Maureen: Mom, I'm almost a teenager!

Vanessa: So what. You know the rules.

Nola: Frankly, I don't see the issue with her having her ears pierced. Anastasia had hers did when she was two.

Vanessa shoots a piercing look at Nola.

Maureen: See! Cousin Stacey had them done when she was two! Emma had her done when she was four -- Clarissa when she was six!

Vanessa: Don't start with me, Maureen. (to Nola) And no one asked for your opinion.

Nola: I know. But I just love to interject. (hugging Maureen) Plus, my niece is right. She should have her ears pierced. And my God, its not like she went and out got a boob job...

    Vanessa gasps.

Nola: ...or did drug. Or drank alcohol.

Vanessa clutches her chest in utter shock.

Nola: She just got her ears pierced.

Maureen: (hugging Nola tighter) I love you, Aunt Nola. Sometimes I wish I was your daughter.

    Nola: Aww, kiddo.

    The doorbell rings.

Vanessa: Maureen, go and answer the door! Nola, shut up! Matt and Quint, get over here! ITS TIME TO EAT.

    Maureen scurries off into the

Maureen: Umm... can I help you guys?

    J: I don't know can you, bumblebee?

    Maureen's face light up.

    Maureen: Cousin J!

J removes his box to show his handsome face.

Tom: And don't for get about me, squirt!

    Maureen: Tom?!

Tom removes his box from his face. Maureen joyously screams at the sight of her cousins.

    Maureen: MOM!!!

Vanessa: (O.C.) What are you in here--

Vanessa enters the foyer where she sees Tom and Anthony J.

    Vanessa: Anthony? Thomas?

J: Hey, Aunt Vanessa. Long time, no see.

Vanessa runs over to hug both Thomas and J.

Vanessa: What are you two doing here? Your mother said that you were--

Nola: (O.C.) (Voice coming closer) Now what is all this ruckus in--

Nola freezes in place at the sight of her son. She speechless... for once. Tears start to stream down her face. Quint and Matt slowly come up behind Nola.

Mel: Hey you. What is going on as of late?

Harley: Nothing much. Just slowly settling back into life in Springfield. Who knew leaving here and coming back would be so hard.

    Mel: Well life goes on.

Harley: That is does. It does so much that you've got a new man.

    Mel tenses up.

Mel: So -- So you know about me and-

Harley: Cyrus? Yep. Rick told me about you two.

    Mel: He did!

Harley: Mel, calm down. It's fine with me.

Mel: No that is not the point. He has not right to tell you. If anything you should've heard about it from me.

Harley: Hey, hey, if it makes you feel better, Rick only mentioned it while he was having a rant. A jealous one at that.

Mel: I don't care about what he was having. He needs to mind his own damn business. When he signed his John Hancock to the divorce papers, I was wiped cleaned of him telling me what to do. The only thing we have in common now is Leah -- only Leah. My personal life is off limits to him.

    Harley: Now, Mel--

Harley looks over at the entrance where now Rick enters looking around. Harley gestures Rick to leave but Rick stand there confused. Mel spins around to see Rick.

Mel: Oh no. Call him over here now.

    Harley: Mel...

    Mel: No. Call him.

Mel waves for Rick to come over. Rick does as he is told and joins them.

Rick: Hey everyone. What is going on?

    Harley: Nothing...

    Harley anxiously sips her coffee.

Mel: Well apparently you told Harley about me and Cyrus.

    Rick searches for an answer.

Mel: No need for you to come up with some excuse. You've been caught. Might as well fess up.

Rick: Mel, regardless you are the mother of my child and anything that affects Leah affects me.

Mel: (laughs) Funny. So funny. Now if you care so much about me when we were married and you were screwing Beth...

    Harley rises up.

    Harley: Maybe I should leave...

    Mel pulls her back down.

Mel: How about not. You're in it now. Thanks to this nosy bastard.

Rick: Nosy? I wouldn't have to be so nosy if you weren't sleeping with Foley.

Mel: I can sleep with whoever the hell I want?!

Everyone in the restaurant watches on.

Mel: (getting up) And may I add, last night I had the most incredible sex with Foley. Better than anything I had with you. The man oozes passion and loyalty -- something you to learn from him. He is a real man.

    Rick: A real criminal.

Harley: Dear God. Mel, please sit down. Rick, stop.

Mel: Oh no worries. I am about to leave anyways. Gotta date with Cyrus. Another rump in the sheets. Adios.

Marah: Mom, what did you want?

Reva: I have a surprise for the both of you.

Shayne: A surprise? From you? (to Marah) ...I'm scared.

Reva pops Shayne on the arm.

Reva: Oh funny. You're such a jokester.

Reva takes Henry and puts him in the play pen with Colin.

Marah and Shayne are giddy at the sound of the voice. Hawk pops out the closet.

    Reva: Surprise!

Marah becomes emotional and falls into her grandpa's arms. Hawk is speechless at Marah's action. And he consoles her by caressing her hair.

Hawk: Marah, honey, why are you crying?

Marah: Just happy. So happy to see you.

Hawk: Well so am I. But I am no one special to cry over.

    Marah: I doubt that.

Hawk leads Marah to the couch where they sit. The two lock hands, like the bond they share.

Marah: Oh Gramps, I have missed you.

Hawk: Well worry no more. I have more good news for you.

Shayne: (sitting on the arm of the couch) And what could that be?

Hawk: And we've decided to move back Springfield -- just for now. No long terms but just to try and bring the family back together.

Marah: That's great! -- (downplaying her joy) I mean OK. What about Aunt Roxie.

Hawk: Roxie, unfortunately won't be able to join us. But she sends her love. She and Johnny are going to stay in Tulsa so she can be near her doctors. But she does promise to come and visit, hopefully for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Marah: Good.

Reva starts to tear up at the sight of her family together. Hawk takes notice.

Rusty: I don't know about that...

    Frank: Oh come on.

    Rocky and Trista enter, arguing.

Rocky: See I told you. I told you about those Spauldings.

Trista: You don't have to tell me twice. He had the nerve to demote me to the advice column.

Rocky: Typical Spaulding. Wielding his ample power when feeling threatened.

Trista: Who you telling. But I am going to go into the bathroom to switch into my uniform. I'll be back out shortly.

Trista runs off to the ladies' room.

INT. SPRINGFIELD UNIVERSITY - DAY - HALLWAY

Trista scurries inside when she notices Kevin sluggishly moving down the hallway. Trista slows down watching Kevin. Kevin peeks through a classroom window, a lab. Trista approaches Kevin and taps him on the shoulder. Kevin jumps up in fear.

    Kevin: God you scared me!

Trista: What are you doing? I thought you had constitutional law now.

    Kevin: I do.

Trista: And you're standing here because...?

Kevin: I wanted to skip class ok?

Kevin starts to walk away. Trista peers into the window Kevin was looking into and then follows him down the hallway.

Trista: Then why were you looking inside the medical lab?

Kevin stops, forming a grin on his face.

Kevin: Are you always so nosey, Nancy Drew?

Trista: Ha. Ha. Funny. Nancy Drew has nothing on me. But seriously, what were you looking at?

Kevin: Nothing. I was seeing if my friend was in class.

Trista: (not convinced) Mmm hmm. Yeah.

    Kevin: You don't believe me?

Trista: Nope. My journalistic and womanly intuitions are telling me otherwise.

Kevin: Then you might want to have them checked out.

Kevin takes off down the hall again.

    Trista: By who? You?

Kevin stops and turns to Trista.

Kevin: What is that suppose to mean?

Trista: For some odd reason, I am getting this feeling that you aren't happy or satisfied with your major.

Kevin: Guess what? You're wrong. I happen to love studying law.

    Kevin takes off.

Trista: (hollering down the hall) Then why are you skipping class?

    Kevin: Goodbye, Trista.

Jeff: So are we still not talking to each other?

Reva ignores Jeffrey and places Colin in his play pen.

Jeff: So that is how it is going to be for now on?

Reva cuts a mean glare at Jeffrey and goes into the kitchen.

Jeff: Fine, Reva. Fine. Two can play that game.

Jeffrey tosses the paper on the floor and grabs his briefcase.

Jeff: I am going to the office where I know I am appreciated.

Jeffrey goes over to the play pen where he leans over and watches Colin teething on his teething ring.

Jeff: You love me. Don't you, sonny boy?

Jeffrey winks at Colin and heads to the door. Jeffrey opens the door reveal Hawk and Rusty standing in the doorway in their cowboy attire.

    Hawk: O'Neill!

Hawk hugs Jeffrey, who is astonished to see them.

Reva: (O.C) Pa! Pa is that you?

Hawk: Sister! Sister, where are you?

Reva runs to the door pushing Jeffrey out the way. She rushes into Hawk's arms.

Reva: Aww, Daddy! I am so glad to see you.

    Rusty waves at Reva.

Reva: (breaking free of Hawk) Rusty!!

    Reva hugs Rusty tightly.

Leah: Let me go! Let me go, Grady. Please. I -- I will give you anything you want. You want money, I have money.
Grady: I don't need any money from you. I have my sources...
Leah: Then what can I do to help you. I'll -- I'll do anything. You tell me.

Grady's ponders for a second and then his face lights up.

Grady: You. You -- I can use you to help me with Spaulding.
    Leah: What?
Grady: I can use you to help me get one over on Spaulding.
    Leah: You mean Alan?
    Grady: No, Phillip.

Leah is puzzled by this statement.

Leah: Why are you so adamant about Phillip?

Grady pulls back his hair to reveal a scar to her. Leah cringes at the sight of the grizzly, !@#$%^&*] scar.

    Leah: What happened to you?
Grady: Phillip Spaulding and that is all I can tell you now.
Leah: But if you want me to help you, you should tell me everything.
Grady: How about you just shut up and do as I say.
    Leah: Ok...

Grady releases her and pushes her away from him.

Grady: And plus this should be what you want.
Leah: I want? What do you mean what I want?
    Grady: Vengeance.
    Leah: For what?
Grady: If it wasn't for Phillip, Rick would not have lied to your mother about helping Phillip escape the country.

Leah starts to fume at the reminder of this. Grady walks up behind her and whispers in her ear, assuming control.

Grady: This your chance to get one over on him. Your chance to pay Phillip back for the misery he has caused you. Come on Leah, join me. Join me...

INT. SPD - DAY - HOLDING CELLS

India and Dorrie sit in silence as they hear footsteps coming down the hallway. India gets up and squeezes her head down the hall to notice an officer and a man in a trench coat and hat walking towards them. The man looks up at India to reveal its Alan.

India: Alan! I knew you would come to save me. I just knew it.
Officer: You have ten minutes, Mr. Spaulding.

Alan shoos the officer away as he reaches through the bars, grabbing India's hands in a comforting manner.

Alan: Could you ever really doubt me?
    India: Not for one second.
Dorrie: (in the background) Is he going to get us out of here or what? It's disgusting and vile back here.
Alan: No worries, I will have you out in a few.

Alan releases India's hands and head to the front of the police station. He smiles at her to give her some hope.

    INT. CRIMINAL PROCESSING

The room is bustling with a crowd of officers running about doing their usual duties: writing reports, booking criminals. Alan interrupts Frank who is conversing with another officer.

Alan: I need to speak with you.
Frank: Don't you see I am busy.

Frank heads off towards his office with Alan tailing behind him.

    Alan: I don't care.
Frank: Alan, if this about India, the proof is in the pudding. She committed a crime and now she has to deal with the consquences.
Alan: It was a simple mistake. Just call up that Gary guy and we can settle this here.
Frank: I don't think so. If you are thinking about bribing him, you can forget about it.
Alan: (scoff) I cannot believe you said that.
    Frank: I did.

Frank enters his office, turns around and slams the door in Alan's face.

Alan: You will pay for this, Cooper.

Suddenly, Alan's attention is caught by an officer and a man (Gary) standing at the counter.

Officer: Mr. Gary, we have your limo parked in the cage if you want an officer to go and retrieve it for you.
Gary: That would be so nice.
    Officer: Wait here.

The Officer walks off. Gary waits patiently as Alan stalks him like a lion to a gazelle, waiting for the right time to attack, well approach him in this case.

Alan: (approaching him) You must be Gary.
    Gary: Yeah. And you are?
    Alan: Alan. Alan Spaulding.
    Gary: Of Spaulding Enterprises?!
    Alan: Yes.

Gary takes Alan's hand and shakes it aggressively.

Gary: So nice to meet you, Mr. Spaulding.
Alan: You too. Now I need you to do me a favor.

Alan gestures Gary to follow him to a corner where Alan says some words we can't make out but when Alan whips out a check and the expression of Gary's face fills it in for all of us.

Frank emerges from his office to find Alan and Gary together. Frank storms over to them.

Frank: Alan, what are you doing!
Gary: (putting the check away) Nothing. We were just talking. Mr. Spaulding was just requesting my expertise for when the next Spaulding board meeting. He needed some limos to ride the board members in and I couldn't say no.
    Frank: Alan...
Gary: Oh and Mr. Cooper, I need you to go and drop those charges against the Von Halkein women.

    Frank is speechless.

Gary: I see no real harm was done and the limo I am sure is in fine condition.
Alan: And if it isn't you can call me for repairs.
    Gary: I will.

    The Officer reenters.

Ofifcer: (handing keys) Here you go, Mr. Gary.
Gary: Thank you. You all have a blessed day. Oh, and Mr. Cooper, you can fax me any paperwork that I need to sign about dropping those charges. Good day everyone.

Gary walks out. Frank is livid and this point while Alan is happy that once again, money solved another problem.

Alan: You can go and release them.
Frank: (to Officer) Draw up the paperwork and have another officer go back there and release India and Dorrie.
    Officer: Alright, Sir.

The officer walks off doing as they are told.

    Frank: So you win again.
    Alan: Till next time.

Frank walks back into his office and slams the door.

    Alex pulls Alan back down.

Alex: How about you stay in your lane and don't worry about them. See that's your problem, you always worry about everybody else situation but your own.

    A-M: (O.C) I agree.

Alan Michael and Phillip walk back in the room with their arms on each other shoulders. Everyone watches on overjoyed. All but Alan.

Phillip: Sorry we are late. We had a heart to heart.

Alex: No problem. Just glad to see you two getting along and not at each other throats unlike other siblings I know.

Alex cuts her eyes at Alan.

    Beth: (gesturing) Join us.

Phillip grabs a seat next to Beth while Alan Michael sits next to Alex. Caroline starts to walk out the room when,

Lizzie: Caroline, aren't you going to join us also?

Caroline: Oh no. I'm sure there is some filing that needs to be done.

    Alan: There is.

Alex: Then too bad because Caroline is going to join us. (to Caroline) Have a seat.

Caroline does as she is told and has a seat next to Alan Michael.

Alex: See now. Even though we are dysfunctional, we all can sit down have a dinner together.

Alan: (groaning) Oh please. This day just keeps getting worse and—

India and Dorrie barge into the room to the delight of no one. Alex stands up bewildered and frustrated. On the other hand, Alan is delighted by the sight of India.

    Alex: India!

Beth: Looks like this day has been shot to hell…

Alan: No, I think it has just gotten better.

India pants heavily. We can tell that her adrenaline is still running high.

India: Stepmother dearest, how are you?

Alex: India, what is going -- oh -- what -- ooo girl, what are you doing here?

India: Well can't your favorite stepdaughter—

Alex: My only and not so favorite—

India: Ok then. Can I just get a hello?

    Alex: Hello. Now leave.

    India: Oh you're not serious.

India gracefully sits in a vacant seat at the table.

    Alex: As a heart attack.

India: (chortles) Then someone is about to have a heart attack because I have news for you all.

    Phillip: Oh God…

India: Phillip, come on. I thought we were on good terms.

    Phillip: You thought wrong.

India: Fine then. You all are just going to have to deal with me more now that I am moving back to Springfield.

Alex clutches her chest in pain.

Alex: Dear God. He is punishing me. Why, why, WHY!!!

    Alan: Oh stop, Alex.

Alan snatches her hand away from her chest.

Beth: India, why is your motive? What do you want now? Phillip? Alan? Money?

Caroline: (leaning into Alan Michael, whispering) Who is this woman?

A-M: India Von Halkein. One of Phillip's many ex-wives and Alan's lovers.

    Caroline: (jealous) Oh…

India: (to Beth) Everything I do does not have to be money motivated.

Beth: I doubt that seriously. You are nothing more than a gold-digger.

Dorrie: I will not let you talk to my mother like that!

India: Oh Dorrie, ignore Beth. She can call me anything she wants but she knows at the end of the day I have more class than she will on her best day. Beth Raines is nothing more than a piece of trash from the wrong side of the tracks.

    Alex: India!

    James: (overlapping) Hey!

    Lizzie: (overlapping) How dare you!

Phillip: I will not allow you to sit at this table, India and talk to the mother of my children that way.

India: Put a cork in, Phillip. Beth should be use to being called trash.

Alex: I want her out! I. WANT. HER. OUT!!

Dorrie: (tugging at India's arm) Let's go, Mother.

India: Fine. My daughter and I will leave this house but we won't leave Springfield or Spaulding Enterprises.

Phillip: You have no position at Spaulding Enterprises. The foundation had cut backs and we know for a fact that you were released.

India slowly paces around the table.

India: So true but that isn't the only position I have at Spaulding.

Alan grins from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat.

India positions herself behind Phillip's chair and leans in close to his ear.

India: Have you forgotten that I still have seat on the board?

    Alex: Heaven help us.

India: Which means that I still wield some power. The only way you will be able to get that seat back is if you buy it from me at my price. And I am sure you all don't want to buy me out at the high price I am willing to sell it for during this horrible recession.

Alex: Try me. How much do you want to sell the seat for?

    India: 15 million!

The room goes into a ruckus.

    Phillip: 15 million! What? India—

Alex: Never. I will never pay for that. We find another way to get you off the board.

India: And I will sue you. I gave you my price. Take it or leave it.

    Hilda the Maid enters.

Hilda: Mr. Spaulding, I am sorry to interrupt but Mr. Cooper is here.

    Alan: Buzz?

    Hilda: No. Mr. Frank Cooper.

    Alan: Let him in.

Hilda nods her head and gesture Frank to enter. Frank is followed by two other uniformed cops.

Frank: Sorry to interrupt this dinner but we have been contacted by Gary's Limo that a limo of his has been stolen.

India and Dorrie's eyes widen as they share a glance.

Alan: I'm sorry but all of my limo's are owned by me.

Frank: I know. But the limo that India arrived in was not.

Frank smiles at a tense India.

Frank: You wouldn't've stolen a limo would you, India?

India: No. How dare you make such an accusation?

Frank: India…they presented us with a bounced check, along with the limo number you took and its license plate. Just happens to be the one in the drive way.

India: So what? Anyone could've put that there.

Alex: Someone is a bit of a kleptomaniac.

Frank: (pointing at India) Get her.

The cops whip out their cuffs and walk over towards India and Dorrie.

India: This -- this is a mistake.

    Frank: Read them their rights.

India: Do you all know who I am! My father was the Baron of Andorra!

    Dorrie: Mother, shut up.

The cops cuff India and Dorrie.

Cop #1: India and Dorrie Von Halkein, you are under arrest for grand theft auto.

    Dorrie and India: WHAT?!

Cop #2: Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of the law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't provide yourself with one, one will be provided to you.

India: This is a travesty! I am innocent!

    Phillip: Sure, India. Sure.

Frank: Take them to the car.

The cops escort India and Dorrie out.

India: (O.C) Alan! Alan, help me!

Frank: Sorry to interrupt, you all may go back to doing what you were doing.

    Alex: Thank you, Frank.

    Frank exits.

Alex: Grand theft auto. Beth, you are a lawyer, how many years is that?

    Beth: 3 to 5.

Alex: Good. According to the Spaulding Board Members handbook, a felony equals automatic expulsion from the board.

Alan: If they are found guilty. Plus the expulsion is up to the present CEO of the company, which is me.

Alex: What are you up to Alan?

Alan: I happen to like India. And I want her to stay on the board.

Alan gets up and heads for the door.

    Alex: Where are you going?

Alan: To bail out India and Dorrie before a media crisis happens.

Lizzie: Grandpa, are you kidding me?

    Alan: No.

Phillip: Dad, if you bail that woman out I will never speak to you again.

    Beth: Me too.

    Alex: I second that motion.

    Lizzie & James: Ditto!

Everyone looks at Bill, who sits in silence.

    Lizzie: Bill!

Bill: Alan and I already don't talk so what would be the difference?

    Beth: Alan Michael? Caroline?

    Caroline: He's my boss.

Alan Michael: I have no seat on the board anymore. He took it before I left town the last time.

Phillip: Then it is settled. Us or India?

Alan: (laughs) Do you all think you can blackmail me? And how many times have you all said you will never speak to me again but you always do?

Alex: But this time is different.

Alan: We shall see. Now I am going to get India and Dorrie. Goodbye.

    Marah: I -- I came to see…

Natalia: (holding Olivia back) Calm down.

    Olivia breaks free.

Olivia: YOU expect me to play it cool? SHE KILLED MY BROTHER!

Jeffrey walks up to Marah and tries to guide her out the church.

    Jeffrey: Maybe you should leave.

Marah: I think not! (to Olivia) Sam was MY friend. And what happened to him was a tragedy but I am not going to let you continue on blaming me.

Olivia: Marah, I want you to leave! Leave my brother’s funeral.

Marah: Last time I checked, the church was a public place.

    Olivia: Not Sam’s funeral!

Marah: Too bad. I also came here for the Bauers too and I know they aren’t going to kick me out so deal with it.

    Jeffrey: Marah—

Marah: (frantic) SHUT UP, JEFFREY! Stop trying to tell me what to do. I am staying and it’s final.

Olivia: Are you kidding me? You really are going to disrespect my memory of my brother by you being here?

Marah: That’s the problem, Olivia, it’s not about you. Sam would want—

Olivia interrupts, stepping in Marah’s face point her finger in her face.

Olivia: Don’t you dare. Don’t you dare say what Sam would want. You don’t know what he wants.

Marah: (intensely) Get your finger out my face.

Jeffrey and Natalia pull the women apart.

Jeffrey: Enough! (to Marah) You really should leave.

Matt: Vanessa, what are you looking for?

Vanessa: My earrings, the ones that Ed gave me that belonged to Maureen. I can’t find them.

Vanessa drops on all fours and starts to search the floor. Matt burst into laughter at the sight of Vanessa on the floor. Vanessa looks up puzzled by this moment.

Vanessa: What is so hilarious to you?

Matt: Nothing -- Nothing at all.

Vanessa: Oh please. What is it?

Matt: To see the great Vanessa Chamberlain on the floor on all fours. I never thought I’d see that.

    Vanessa: Matt…

Matt extends his hand out and Vanessa takes it, standing back up.

Vanessa: I have to find those earrings. They mean so much to me.

Matt: Have you retraced your steps?

Vanessa shoots a look at him.

Vanessa: What do you think I have been doing?

    Matt laughs.

Matt: Come on, come on. Now where was the last place you had them on?

Vanessa: I had them on sitting at the desk, but I took them off when I was talking to Bridgett on the phone.

    Matt: Ok. Then what?

Vanessa: I grabbed them and headed to the terrace because Maureen had called me about the pool getting clogged up.

    Matt: Then?

Vanessa: Well I went out there -- Matt! We don’t have time for the guessing game. We have a funeral to get to.

Matt: Then apparently you don’t want to wear those earrings.

    Vanessa: (pouting) Matt!

Footsteps are heard down the stairs. Enters Maureen.

    Maureen: What is going on?

Matt: Your mom is looking for her earrings.

Maureen tucks back her hair to reveal her ears.

    Maureen: You mean these?

Vanessa eyes widen at the sight of the earrings, better yet Maureen’s pierced ears.

    Vanessa: Maureen?!

    Maureen: What?

Matt: Don’t address your mother like that.

Maureen: Sorry. Let me try again, Ma’am?

Vanessa walks up on Maureen and touches her ears.

    Vanessa: Your ears!

    Maureen: What about them?

Matt: Maureen, stop being a smart aleck.

Vanessa: Take those earring out now. (hold her hands out) I mean now!

Maureen takes them out and hands them Vanessa.

Maureen: Take a chill pill, Mom.

Vanessa: Excuse me. Young lady, you waltz in here with my earring on but that is not the worst thing, you have pierced ears and you know how I feel about that!

Maureen: Mom, I am the only girl in the seventh grade without them.

Vanessa: I don’t care if you are the only girl on the planet without them. When I mean no, I mean no! (to Matt) Chime in!

    Matt is bewildered.

Maureen: But what about Emma’s party? I still get to go, right?

Vanessa: No. You don’t. The only place you’ll go is from your room straight to school and back for a month.

    Maureen: A month?

    Matt: (overlapping) A month?

    Vanessa: (sternly) A month.

    Matt: Vanessa…

Vanessa: Don’t start with me. I said it a month.

Maureen: Fine. Then my punishment can start now when I don’t go to the funeral.

    Vanessa: You’re going!

Maureen: No, I’m grounded so I can start now.

Vanessa: Don’t you dare. Don’t you dare throw that back at me. I will tell you when it begins.

    Daisy: (O.C) Grandma!

Reva: Oh that must be Daisy with the eggs. Excuse me everyone.

Hawk: Excuse me too. I need to refill my wine glass.

Hawk gets up from the table following Reva, carrying his glass.

    KITCHEN

Reva and Hawk enter as Daisy hands Reva a bag with eggs.

    Reva: Hi, honey.

Reva kisses Daisy on the head.

Daisy: Hey. Oh, Trista is going to join us. Do you mind?

Reva: Of course not. (to Trista) We are glad to have you.

Trista: Thanks. I'm glad to be here.

    Daisy: Is everyone here?

Reva: (in the fridge) Nope. We are waiting on Cassie and RJ, but your Dad is in there.

    Daisy: He is?

    Reva: Yep.

Daisy: Well excuse me why I say hello to him. I'll be back Trista, OK?

    Trista: Take your time.

    Daisy exits.

Reva: So Trista, how has life in Springfield been?

Trista: Good. I miss life in Atlanta but I'm settling.

    Reva: That's good.

Daisy (O.C) Trista, come in here and meet my Dad.

Trista: Coming! (to Reva) Excuse me, Mrs. O'Neill.

Reva: No problem. And call me Reva.

    Trista: Yes ma'am.

Trista hops off the stool and exits. Her locket falls out her back pocket, unnoticed.

Reva: Such a nice girl. I know her mother must be missing her.

Hawk: (struggling opening the wine bottle) She must. Reminds me of all the time your Mother use to fret about you not being home from the holiday when you first came to Springfield.

    Reva: Oh, Pa...

Reva grabs her pumpkin pie off the counter and heads for the door when she noticed a locket on the floor. She picks it up and examines it closely.

    Reva: Who is this?

Hawk: (still struggling with the bottle) Must be the young lady's.

Reva: Must be. (notices the photo inside the locket) Nice couple. If I would've known better that man in the picture looks like our Rusty.

    Hawk: Yeah, yeah, Sister.

    Reva: I mean doesn't it?

Reva hand Hawk the locket. Hawk put down the bottle and looks at the photo. His eyes widen in shock.

    Hawk: That is Rusty!

Reva: No way! (snatches the locket back) It can't be.

Hawk: I know my boy. And looks like it was taken back in the early 90s. I remember that hideous hairdo of Rusty's anywhere.

Reva: But why would Trista have a photo with Rusty inside?

    Hawk: Beats me.

    Reva: Hmmm...

    And on Reva wondering,
