  1. Seriously, Smitty looked like he was reporting for the college newspaper. And for a supposedly crack investigative reporter he showed his hand way too quickly by going for the kill with the Joey connection. #no finesse. Andre-handsome, stylish, worldy, wealthy. Having a hot secret sexcapade with a fiery older woman-attracted to a dowdy basic nurse .Me thinks not.
  2. Colby gave me Clutch Cargo vibes...
  3. Well there has to be some complication in this relationship to make it interesting as time goes by. Madison is going to be the one with a secret of some sort-maybe she is married/separated to another guy/girl, has a drug problem etc I know it is true to life but I hate that men deciding it's time to be married and choosing a ring is seen as romantic.I find it a bit controlling. Surely this needs to be a mutual decision and not some outdated notion that women should feel blessed that a man has chosen her.
  4. That was so touching, I started to cry. Josh must be so proud to have fathered such a sensitive and eloquent son.
  5. Back to 1976 Pt 5 Cathy has been irritable and vague lately, worrying Tony, who has no idea that her mental condition has deteriorated to the point where she visits the infant department of the local department store, looking at clothes for her daughter, and spends more and more time dreaming of Megan’s future as if the child were still alive. But Cathy finally admits she can’t handle the situation and agrees to see Dr. Will Vernon, the new psychiatrist at Llanview Hospital. Joe runs into Cathy in Will’s reception area, and she tells him about a fantasy she’s had about their Megan’s sweet-sixteen party. As she relates the event in vivid detail, Joe is overcome with painful emotions and insists she stop it. He then spills out the truth—that even if there had been no accident, Megan would never have had a ‘sweet-sixteen party; she would not have lived long enough. Cathy bitterly berates her father for taking it upon himself to deny her and Joe the knowledge of Megan’s condition, insisting that if they had known they might have somehow been able to find a cure.Cathy refuses to forgive her father for this, despite Tony’s pleas that this bitterness can’t help her or Megan. Jenny, who has finally let Peter persuade her to begin to function again by working as a nurse at the Free Clinic, insists she can’t make any binding plans yet but will live right now one day at a time. Jenny is taken aback when her sister Karen shows up on the Craig doorstep, explaining that she caught a ride on the private plane of a jet-set friend and thought she’d stop for a visit. Actually, Karen has arrived by bus and hitchhiked from the terminal, which Jenny soon discovers when her ride drops by with Karen’s address book, left in the’ car. Karen defensively admits that she wasn’t in Europe but had failed to make a living as an entertainer here in the States and was living in a commune. Karen is reluctant to follow Jenny’s suggestion that she look for a job, preferring to just relax and size up Llanview, the Craigs, and particularly Anna Craig’s brother, the very eligible Dr. Larry Wolek. When Larry bitterly learns that the hospital board has voted for Peter to head the new wing, he points out that Dorian knew she would win—after all, without the Ford Foundation money the hospital would be in trouble, and Dorian now controls those funds and the board knows it. When he announces he’s resigning from the hospital and will set up. a private practice, Karen enthusiastically offers support. Larry notes that he'll never go anywhere at the hospital now that Dorian is holding the purse strings, but adds that someday he’ll have his revenge on her. Tony is furious to discover that instead of keeping her appointments with Dr. Vernon, Cathy has used this time to visit Joe frequently, commiserating with him over their mutual tragedy, and has even gone to Viki to promise her she’ll make her sorry she was ever born. Tony warns Cathy that she’s become obsessed since learning the truth about Megan and is . risking their marriage by shutting him out of her life. Cathy comes close to revealing the truth about the reason she hustled him into marriage when she rejects his help and his concern, but manages to remember how she could still lose Tony to Pat and tearfully insists it was because she loves him. Naomi Vernon’s asthma is worsening, and Larry urges Will to hire a full-time nurse.Jenny, offered the position, accepts it, to the delight of Brad Vernon, Naomi and Will’s son. When Brad receives a bid to play in a tennis tournament, Naomi fears this will worsen things, as Will feels Brad’s on his way to becoming a tennis bum. But Will tells his son not so— not if Brad’s really willing to make a career out of the sport and concentrate on it, not just dabble in it. But Brad decides against the tennis tour and tells his father he’s considering taking students right here in Llanview and possibly returning to school. Will is pleased with this unusually mature (for Brad) plan and wonders if Jenny’s not the reason why Brad’s suddenly more sensible and realistic. When Viki suddenly goes into premature labor, she’s rushed to the hospital, where her condition is brought under control. After a few days she’s allowed to go home with full care on the understanding ‘that she and Joe have separate rooms for the balance of her confinement. To show a new leaf of family solidarity and concern, Dorian sends her own housekeeper, Felicia, to care for Viki. Viki agrees to this, not for Dorian’ s sake but so as not to hurt Felicia by rejecting her. Karen decides that a private practice for Larry Wolek could be the perfect answer to her own search for money and comfort. She throws herself into grandiose and pretentious plans for setting up his office, horrifying Larry, who not only can’t afford these things but realizes that the kind of patients he’s planning to have would be frightened off by them. Karen tells him he should change his thoughts and try to attract wealthy patients, but she wisely agrees to simplify the plans and make them fit his needs. As they spend more and more time together on the project, Karen manages to show herself in only the most attractive light, and soon she and Larry become lovers.
  6. Miserable Mariah got old very quickly. Will there be any movement this week or just more of Mariah rebuffing Tessa. I get the feeling that this week will see different sets of characters on that train set puzzling about who is Aristotle Dumas and what is his devious plan?

  8. Thanks as always @DRW50 Love that we are still uncovering new cast info. That was a quick leap for KZ to GL. She says she was unexpectedly dropped fom OLTL. Did she talk about it in her book? Did she want another soap role straight away or did GL approach her to test for Reva?
  9. The 'love of a good woman can redeem a villian trope' used for Hope/Alan was romantic wish fulfillment but limiting in terms of story. Alan had to keep his edge and ultimately pay the price by losing Hope, who comes out stronger for it. But there would always be an attraction and a wish for both of them to go back to that time when they discovered each other. There was years of story there with Hope finding a new romance and Alan dallying with other women. Alan Michael as the bond and Mike thwarting possible reconciliations etc. Phillip sorased and seeing Hope as a mother figure,Elizabeth returning and so on. But instead a bunch of new couples took over, most of whom had no lasting impact. And the Bauer legacy severely diminished.
  10. If only Phyllis was lost in the maze forever. No amount of new sets is going to cover the fact that this story is a dud.
  11. Well if that's the case I think that was a poor decision. It's awkward enough when a new show is forced to recast early b/c an actor is inadequate, but to have an intentional recast in the wings, no matter how the first actor is doing is misguided. And for the recast to happen right at a crucial moment? Santa Barbara had Nicolas Coster and Marcy Walker signed but held up those characters appearing until the actor was available. Now with Ted being major in the storyline that wouldn't have worked. I just don't think Maurice was that bad or Keith that good that the whole thing was necessary. Maybe they should have cast someone who at least evoked Keith physically if that were the plan. Like if Maurice was a placeholder for Timmon/Bill that would have been more believable from a physical POV. Especially when they were happy to cast and keep Ben Gavin, Alex and Brandon who were all very shaky at the beginning.
  12. Well Maurice had more of a swagger. Even his clothing seemed more showy-the white suits, turtlenecks. And we got to see his Ted romance Nicole, with indications he was still hot for her with lots of PDA's. Nu Ted came on right at the point of the reveal/split so there is a disconnect . We haven't seen this Ted in any relationship with Nicole apart from adversarial. It's like a new relationship. It's a challenge for the actor, writers and the audience,.
  13. Somerset 1976 Pt 5 Julian returns, explaining that he’s been to see the assistant attorney general in Washington about the Organization takeover in Somerset, but Washington’s cooperation is not immediately forthcoming. Carrie, under increasing emotional pressure, finally collapses in Julian’s office and is hospitalized. Learning of this, Steve disguises himself as a doctor and makes repeated stealthy visits to her bedside, reassuring her of his love for her. Steve feels he’s made inroads when he manages to obtain an Organization phone number by counting the dial clicks as Castor calls his superior. But Lieutenant Price finds there’s no connection to anyone. Steve is discouraged that all his leads—the “iron man” remark, the name Harry Rose, the music box, this phone number, and a second, which also proves nothing are inconclusive. Discouraged, he and Carrie consider running now and not looking back. But Lieutenant Price points out what Steve already knows: The Organization will never let him go. No matter how long it takes, they’ll track him down. And Steve and Carrie admit to themselves that they can’t leave Julian to battle the Organization alone. Steve is worried when Denny suddenly changes the a established route for their next money-exchange drop and refuses to explain why. They are unnerved when they come upon an unexpected roadblock—Sergeant Chip Williams, again—but their nervousness turns to shock when Williams goes to open the trunk and finds it empty: no money, nothing! Steve feels he’s being set up by the Organization. Lieutenant Price tells Steve he didn’t order the roadblock but Chip was acting within bounds of good policework by setting it up. Chip then informs Castor that he wants quick results on his promotion. Tom, under increasing pressure from the Organization to get Greg’s notebooks, manages to get Lena to accidentally reveal that Greg’s things are in his suitcase in her attic. Tom lures Lena out of the house with tickets to a lecture series and searches for the notebooks. Greg’s effects are there, but not the books. Lena returns to find that her house has been entered, but tells Lieutenant Price she’s sure nothing has been taken. Tom realizes he has to cover himself with Lena and decides that the best way is to forthrightly admit that Lena told him about the notebooks. He therefore tells Julian himself, upsetting Julian, who realizes all too well that if the Organization learns that Steve knew about Greg’s notebooks, he will be killed immediately. At Dan’s instigation, Vickie again tries to warn Julian to think of his own safety. But Julian explains that too many people are too involved and their safety can be assured only if he follows his course to completion. When Vickie mentions the possibility of a future together, Julian doesn’t discourage her, but he makes it clear that the Organization investigation must be concluded first. Harrington and Castor put their plan to eliminate Julian and Steve at the same time into effect. Castor explains to Chip that they can’t give him Lieutenant Price’s job, because they can’t get rid of Price now too. However, they will assure Chip of a swift rise in rank though the department and a hefty bonus every month. Chip accepts the offer. Steve, meanwhile, has come up with three more telephone numbers: the local country club’s, an exclusive tailoring shop’s, and the Register’s! Julian enlists Vickie’s help in obtaining membership lists from the club and the tailor’s client list but refuses to tell her what’s happening. Ironically, Vickie’s the only one who holds the solution to connecting the clues. While checking the lists for duplications, Julian routinely eliminates Harrington’s name. Tom is under increasing pressure to uncover the Register’s source of information, and knows he could take the pressure off of himself by revealing that Steve had Greg’s notebooks. However, his love for Carrie, even though she’s made it clear she doesn’t share his feelings, keeps him from hurting her by sealing Steve’s fate. Castor arranges for his hit man and he and Chip start the chain of events leading, they hope, to Julian’s death and Steve’s conviction for it. Positioning the hit man at Chimney Corners with the gun bearing Steve’s fingerprints, Castor informs Steve that he will make ‘the money pickup alone tonight. However, Denny, unwilling to be an accessory to this trap, warns Steve, who is unable to reach Julian at the Register. Julian is already on his way to Chimney Corners, because Chip cleverly arranged for Vickie to “overhear” a prearranged phone call, apparently from an informer, saying that Steve is to be killed at Chimney Corners. As he knew she would, Vickie immediately notified Julian, who took off instantly, arranging with Carrie to notify Price. In trying to save Julian from the hit man’s bullet, Steve is shot. He is rushed to the hospital in critical condition. However, he hangs on until Jerry can perform emergency surgery, and there is now a chance that he’ll make it. Tom, at the hospital to offer Carrie support, sees his regular Organization contact there with another man and warns Julian by anonymous phone tip that another attempt will be made on his life. Price has the hospital searched and, on to Chip, questions him about why he didn’t follow up on his informer’s tip. Chip tries to shrug it off, claiming this informer isn’t always correct.

  15. Abby has been a misfire from the start. Aged up too soon, then cast with actresses that were too old. Given awful writing and no depth of character. A character that should be leading story is now on her third lackluster marriage and recurring.
  16. Yes, a good use of history and a chance to give Ellen a mini story There was no reason for Sandy to return.I guess when they went to an hour they wanted a few familiar characters to pad out the cast.(Dick Martin also returned)Maybe knowing Jennifer was going they had an idea to put Sandy and Bob back together, at least temporarily, but that never happened. Had Dagne Crane returned things might have been different but it was new actress so the connection perhaps wasn't there. I wonder if Sandy and Ellen had anything to do with one another, as Ellen was Sandy's first connection with Ellen (they were cellmates) Also, Sandy had a son that could have been aged up and been involved with Dee, but he never came on. No Tina #1 was played by Toni Bull Bua. Different character altogether.
  17. thanks @DRW50 And for more nostalgia 1976 Pt 3 Bob Hughes, recently widowed when Jennifer died in a car crash, has decided to accept his mother’s offer. He and his infant daughter Frannie will move in with the elder Hugheses. Grant is upset to learn that Judge Barkley has been selected for the custody hearing, as this judge has a reputation for ruling in favor of the natural mother. Sure that Joyce is too unstable to have custody of Teddy, Grant uses one of his peremptory challenges to have him removed. Joyce goes to Ellen Stewart for sympathy, knowing that Ellen went through and lost a custody trial over her son Dan, whom she’d given up to the Stewarts. Ellen married-Dan’s adoptive father, David, years later, after he was a widower. Ellen does have compassion for Joyce, and is dismayed when Dick then informs her she is being called as a witness. Grant assures Ellen he knows she didn’t want to get involved in this. On. the witness stand Dick asks Joyce about her marriage to Grant and her affair with Gregory Paget, making the point that Joyce fears neither man would want her pregnant, and stresses that Dr. Paulk had given her a considerable quantity of drugs when he pressured her to give consent for adoption. Mary is sure Joyce is lying about giving consent only when she was actually in labor, as she and Brian were told they could have this baby a month before it was born. Grant wisely tells her he believes both women are correct, that Dr. Paulk was sure he could get Joyce to eventually consent. Joyce makes the correct impression, and Dick feels she made points with the judge. Ellen’s testimony seems to bend toward Joyce, so Jerry tries to make Ellen admit that her situation and Joyce’s are different. Ellen has to answer honestly and says the situations may differ but the feelings of the mother are the same. Under cross-examination, Mary admits she figured out that Dr. Paulk had forged Grant’s name to the adoption consent, but explains the doctor assured her the father made it clear he didn’t want the child. After a private interview with Teddy, the judge adjourns to consider his decision. The judge reconvenes the court a few days later and announces that adoptive parents have the responsibility of raising children who need their love and care, and thus he rules in favor of the Ellisons. Joyce impressively rises and states that she cares only for her child’s best interests and will abide by the court decision. Although Kim believes Dan doesn’t love her any more, she decides she can’t live with John and moves to a hotel. She has an examination at St. Joseph’s Hospital and learns she is pregnant. Over the interhospital grapevine, Susan soon learns about Kim’s pregnancy. And she quickly tells John. Kim goes to Bob for advice but knows herself that John has to be told. She ruefully notes that ever since she married John, her life has been turmoil. Kim tells John about the baby but adds that this makes no difference -she’s not coming back to him. But John believes he can eventually convince her to change her mind, as there is now a child to bind them together. Bob is trying to present a brave front, but adverse publicity is losing him patients and lecturing assignments. He recalls that Norman was called by a young girl, and Tom checks it out. Tina, unaware that Norman died right after her visit, calls to learn his condition, and John manages to get the message and calls her, explaining that Norman died. Nurse Holland happens to mention the call to Bob, and Tom manages to get the number. John insists that the call was from a business creditor of Norman’s, but when Tom learns that the number in New York has been disconnected, he is sure that John is lying. John is now having fears that his part will be discovered and tries to get the reprimand rescinded, but it is too late; unless there is new evidence, the decision will stand. But Tina comes to Oakdale and tries to sell Sandy Norman’s IOU for five hundred dollars. Sandy puts the story of the mysterious girl caller together with this and informs Bob. A meeting of all the principals in the Norman Garrison investigation is convened, and Tina comes forward and admits she argued with Norman just before he died, but ran out when he became furious, then slumped over. She adds that she told all this to Dr. Dixon on the phone. John tries to deny this, but Nurse Holland verifies Tina’s story. Bob’s reprimand is rescinded, and he consoles Tina by explaining that even if she hadn’t run away, Norman couldn’t have been saved. As John rushes home to give Kim “his” version of what happened. He forcefully states that he has been the victim of a giant conspiracy to shift the blame from Bob to him. Kim tries to put it together, but it’s too confusing for her. John is asked to resign, but he refuses, insisting he has been a good doctor for too long and has made his mark at the hospital Despite the friendly overtures by the Hughes family, Natalie is a long time accepting their gestures, feeling that they don’t really like her. She and Tom accept a dinner invitation from Carol and Jay, prompted by the new business relationship, and Carol prepares a beautiful meal. Natalie and Tom feel obligated to reciprocate, and their meal, lack of cooking expertise compounded by nervousness, is virtually inedible. Natalie’s discomfiture is further compounded by the realization that Jay is making subtle passes at her. Carol is pleased that Jay seems to be mellowing in his business dealings, having more compassion for other people while Tom is growing shocked at Jay’s increasing lack of ethics. He can’t drop him as a client, however, as his salary is largely based on Jay’s business.
  18. Ashley/derek might be more tolerable if they had just met and were getting to know each other but we are led to believe they have been dating for a few years, right? Surely they would be in a better place by now? No to Ashley/Andre. I have no idea why he would be interested. As for sets:wish list Jacob/Naomi living room Den/study for Vernon/Anita so they aren't always in the same room Naomi office Office for Vanessa Terrace at CC. Another eatery/meeting place. Really hope they start using outdoor sets. Those few in the first week worked really well and I assumed they would continue.
  19. I get that Kim might be fuzzy on dates.I'm sure if we had to recall particular events or timelines, things might get a little confused. But surely Kim,or someone, could get online and do a little fact checking. It seems a bit slack to let this go to print with easily corrected info.
  20. But more plausible that she would take a less senior position. Then after a few months Ted could be all 'You've come so far and are ready to move up' That soap trope that everybody is super successful and talented and just slide into jobs/careers without much experience or grunt work There is story in the struggle. eg the purse line might not be a huge success and Kat and Chelsea could learn and grow from that.
  21. As we're never going to see it, why not have Eva be working at Ted's office in a less senior capacity? Say someone else stepped up to take over Kat's position, so Eva could slot in there and this would be a great opportunity for Eva to upskill. BTW I had no idea Kat was an office manager. I'm still finding them hard to buy as mother and son. He looks too old and she too young. Nu Ted is OK but yes, seems a bit timid. I think it's his physical presence as well as his delivery. Not to get to personal but his head is kinda out of proportion to his body and makes him look smaller than he is. Don't hate on me! Probably one of the reasons the turtlenecks have gone. Nice to see Mona, Carlton,Marcel and the guy visiting Martin. Those extra people add another layer. Who was the guy that spotted Martin at the club? Yes, Derek/Ashley continue to be zzzzzz....
  22. Well with #1, he obviously hadn't read any scripts when he made that statement, #2 will happen and as for #3- the only thing he might learn is that the grass isn't always greener.
  23. Tell me how you feel after a daily dose of the new sets. This Dumas stuff looks like it will go on for at least a month.
  24. Poor Billy Flynn. Leaving Days when it finally seems to be on the upswing. And arriving at Y&R when it is in the pits. His character is going to have to be dynamite to make any impression. 'Now Billy, your first scene is with Eric. He will make limited eye contact because he is reading cue cards and his lines are also on phones, menus etc These are the sets you will be working with on a daily basis-CL,Society,GCAC and Jazz Lounge. And work on these key words-merger, takeover, acquisition...'
  25. That odd space between the staircase and the wall would be hell for the cleaning staff. 'Damn Miss Anita for having this fool ass staircase. As if I din't have enough work around this house' It's a soap opera staircase. They never have the height that a real life staircase would have in a house like this.
