  1. Add Lorie Brooks and Mark Henderson.
  2. Barry Drew Woman in White 1942
  3. Those two really are an exception. Offhand I can't think of any other couples who managed to stay in a marriage for a length of time w/o being backburnered.
  4. Rick Ryan was another natural to appear at this time, but for whatever reason he didn't return.
  5. Johnny Coons Ma Perkins Woman in White Bachelors Children Johnny Jensen Road of Life
  6. Anne Sterrett Light of the World Jezebel Right to Happiness Ginny Carson Young Widder Brown
  7. I too like the idea of Beyond Salem with the Hortons involved. So many ways you could craft a story that missing Hortons could be involved with. Maybe Alex Marshall has died and left behind a secret that involves the DiMeras. Marie or Jessica unwittingly has possesion of that document. Work in Steve and Spenser Olsen (fun to bring back Stephen Schnetzer) Sandy Horton and various others over the course of the episodes.
  8. Amusing in the sense that Alice Matthews had earlier married Ray Gordon.
  9. Don Scardino was 35 when playing Chris and Nancy was supposed to about 20?
  10. Rolly Bestor Right to Happiness Connie Wakefield 1947 Front Page Farrell 1948
  11. Seems likely with Daniel returning also.
  12. Lurene Tuttle Pilots/Proposals The World of Rosalind Marlowe Rosalind Marlowe 1946 Rosalind is presumed dead but wakes up in hospital with amnesia.
  13. adding my thanks also. John Colenback in a SOD interview intimated that Marcia McLain was dropped because of weight issues. Even if she were a little heavy (doesn't appear so in the clip) it gives gives her a real life quality and she seems appealing as a more down to earth contrast to her sister. Jacquie Shultz seems completely different. At least they should have kept her a brunette. Martina Deignan is similar to Julie Ridley so physically Ridley was a good recast. Did Martina leave at the end of her contract or was she fired also? I think there was more mileage to be gotten out of Beau/Annie than the quick divorce and Melinda moving in. It set Annie on a path that led to 3 marriages in about 5 years and storyline oblivion. Laurie was always a supporting character, back in the day when they used to have those talk to types. There were a lot of older characters at the time and some trimming/fresh blood was needed but the next writers Hunt/Ellis and then the Dobsons made a lot of poor decisions.
  14. My issue with that story is that it came out of nowhere. I think Nate was offscreen for a while between recasts and when he returned he was already in the affair with Keesha. There was no real setup -it all occurred offscreen, which took away the impact and interest of seeing Nathan drawn into the affair.
  15. Chance is trying to shield his eyes from Abby's outfit. #metallic madness #halloween hag
  16. Y&R Worst Jill/Jed Jill had only recently remarried John , which I never bought considering the horrible divorce they went through. I can see Jill wanting to be Mrs John Abbott again, but John looked like an idiot for going back to Jill. Then Jill turns around and starts sleeping with dreary Jed, even though extra marital sex broke up her marriage the first time. Apparently John couldn't satisfy her sexually... All that lead to John and Jill breaking up again and the dead end 'romance' with Mamie.
  17. One Life to Live Mrs Bixby Anita Bayless April 27, May 1,10 and 11 1984
  18. Requests Teri Austin McKenzie Phillips
  19. Guiding Light also played by Paul Tesreau (Krista's dad) pre 1990
  20. I read that they decided to make Ava more competent in her job as otherwise it was ridiculous that she could be principal, even in TV world.
  21. Sorry Jean, the Hortons have been decimated and Jessica was pretty much forgotten since she left in the early 80's - that out of the blue guest appearance notwithstanding. A pity Ken Corday did not insist that the Hortons remain prominent in the story over the years.
  22. Y&R Victor/Nikki/Ashley/Jack Bill Bell took a risk in destroying the fairytale Victor/Nikki relationship but it was in character. Although Victor had softened, at his core he was still selfish and controlling and while he enjoyed indulging Nikki and being her saviour he grew bored with the game and was intrigued by Ashley a seemingly self sufficient woman and total contrast to Nikki. Of course, in turn, Nikki's need to be adored lead her to Jack, who had his own motivations for wooing Nikki. Throw in family history, sibling rivalry and business machinations and your good to go for years. A pity Terry and Eileen left as that changed the character portrayals to an extent.
  23. i believe Ed Bauer was originally Billy in the 1950's as a child. On SFT Tom Bergman was always referred to as Junior in cast lists and synopses from the 60's,assuming he was also named Stuart (Stu). At some point when he was SORASED he became Tom.
  24. Looking at the March 84 ratings list above you can see that Murder She Wrote provided the shot in the arm CBS Sunday needed. CBS knew their Sunday lineup was aging but still delivering the numbers. But finally Archie Bunker @8 began slipping, winning it's slot but losing too much of the 60 Minutes lead in. They tried Goodnight Beantown but again the numbers weren't strong enough. So Alice was placed at 8 but the same problem occurred-60 Minutes would be Top 10 and Alice might make the Top 20 or 30. Two new sitcoms were tried The Four Seasons and Maggie Briggs. Above Maggie Briggs was #52, 60 Minutes was #10. Hardcastle and McCormack was winning the timeslot for ABC. So CBS finally gave up on sitcoms on Sunday at 8 and had success there with MSW.
