  1. Interesting. I am surprised that YR never grabbed Germany attention while BB did. I understand why 2005/2006 episodes didnt catch anyone, but the 80/90s stuff was good. I guess since BB aired from the 1st episode, people got into it more easily..
  2. Oh cool! Thanks @will81 ! I had no idea it aired in Germany.
  3. Oh there is a German Y&R site? I never knew YR was in Germany. I know B&B (Reich und Schon) was huge in Germany and that GL (Springfield Story) at one point was popular..
  4. Chicago Fire (season 4), Chicago PD (season 3), Superstore (season 3), Black-ish (season 2), Umbrella Academy (season 2), The Boys (season 2). Just finished season 1 of Greenleaf and season 1 of Ozark. I just dropped Big Brother All Stars from my list. Could not anymore....
  5. Yeah, she was Dorothy and Ben was S.B. Initially she thought it was Casey, before realizing it was Ben.
  6. Oh I loved Max, Tanya, Lauren and Abi.. this whole family was one of my favorites! I am glad they will not kill him off.
  7. Well in the beginning of the show, I think they tried to intermingle the cast more. Vanessa, Gabi and Meg were shown as friends. I remember them even singing "Stop in the name of love" together at the bar, like karaoke fun night together. And yes, I believe there was a cyber cafe.. Java cafe?
  8. Oh my, I have not watched Emmerdale in such a long time (I find myself repeating this lately a lot in each different soap opera topic I wonder into hahaha) I know of Annie, but I have never seen any of the old episodes, so I have no attachment to that character, but I can see why many of you find it disrespecting and baldy handled. But I am more shocked at the look of Marlon.. Why does he look like a homeless person in that first clip where Victoria finds out about Annie? Also, I really think Isabel Hodgins is a pretty girl, but I don't really like her boyish look with this short hair. Also also... I have to add that it is really lovely that she decided to stick around for such a long time with the show! It is always nice to have a character grow up with the actor in front of viewers eyes.
  9. Oh yes. I don't think my writing is amazing or anything, but I do hope I have gotten better at least since my teens year back in the late 90s haha But to be honest, I find writing as sort of a way to vent. It helps me relax. That's why I continue with it in spite thinking it is no good haha I wish we could know which stories really came from the writers and which were mandated by the budget/corporate. But I guess we will never know this. I was hoping some of the writers would delve more into this during the chats at Alan Locher zoom meetings during this covid times, but other than the Reva Clone story, I don't think I have heard much about this.
  10. Ah okay, I understand. Well that would make sense especially for stories which were not popular. Those should have been just finished off screen and new stories should start.
  11. Ah okay! Thanks! Thats what US soaps should have done as well.
  12. Thank you for your insight! I always thought Bauers were there from the start!
  13. Well this is much better than blow-up dolls, right? This looks completely real! Nice job, UK soaps! So EE will acknowledge the corona virus. Good for them. On another note, while I haven't watch EE in AGES, I kind of remember reading somewhere that once EE returns from the covid break, they will have sort of a reset with the stories? Did that happen? How did they do it? They just dropped whatever was happening before covid and just started new stories?
  14. No worries. It was also visible on the Youtube video title that you posted I completely forgot that he was on GL playing Bill until you reminded me with your post That was a fun fact to see see
  15. While I do agree that there are some great creative people here, I would not only blame today's writers for the state of soaps. I think a lot of them don't get to write what they want. Us here writing our own little projects, we don't have budgets or corporation managers to approve our stories. I think it is not that easy to be a soap writer these days. I would actually blame more the network managers for the state of soaps than writers. Although I am sure some of them at least are useless and stuck in the past. Sounds fun the way you did your stories I mean, making up actors and interviews, must have been fun. I never did that part. I just "cast" already known actors in the roles on my show. In the beginning I was casting almost exclusively actors from soaps. But as they got cancelled one by one, I had to extend my casting pool to other tv shows or movies
  16. Hm, that's interesting. I would hate that kind of a move to a new location, to be honest. I know it's not a big deal, but just renaming the town overnight, it would irk me And it is annoying when they do things like that (e.g. Alan buying a house on screen, but later referring to it as that always being the Spaulding home). Don't they have have (or at least back then) people who are there to spot continuity errors? lol Oh do I get this correctly that then Bauers did not appear on the show prior to the move to Selby Flats? I thought they had been one of the Rev Ruthledge church members, just not as prominent characters. I am asking because you mention that the only characters to move to Selby Flats are Claire and her husband. But indeed I agree that this sounds like a much better transition than the one to Springfield. That one is just ..... yikes! Oh wow, Billy Abbott... I never liked him that role. Him or Kelly Kruger as Mac. Neither of them was Billy/Mac to me..
  17. Yes, I think Roger did call her Chrissy. I thought others used that name more when she was a kid and that she became Blake only when she was SORASed. Obviously, this was only my assumption Thanks for the reply. Oh, interesting. Flood is an interesting way to change locations. In regards to Springfield move, I wonder how they explained multiple characters moving to a different city just because Bill changed his job. Or was it just the Bauers that moved and then all the other characters stayed behind while Springfield brought on new characters? Do you happen to know which year this happened? EDIT: I found more info on wikipedia, I don't know how I did not see this before when I was googling this earlier today. haha Thanks anyway
  18. I have another question for the historians I see that GL changed locations from Five Points to Shelby Flats to Springfield. How was this done? Did characters move or did they just mention casually the new name of the town? Does anyone know when the changes happened? Thank you!
  19. I see that in the last year they had a character named Christina on the show. And I know that Blake has not used her "Christina" name for a while, but was there ever discussions back in the day about this when this new Christina appeared? I am just curious, because it struck me as odd when I saw it the other day. And yes, I am aware that more than 1 person can be named Christina, but just usually you don't have people with same name on the show at the same time..
  20. Wow! You guys did a really good job! Really nice!
  21. I still write "Life" as well, but not as much as I would like to. I usually get inspired at bedtime.. story ideas just start coming in and I am so excited that I want to go and write then and there, but alas I cannot because well I have a day job and have to sleep haha Then by morning, I forget half of those wonderful ideas I had the night before. OMG I totally get what you are saying. I never thought I would writing my show for such a long time, so I crammed A BUNCH of stuff in the beginning. There was so many murders, marriages, divorces, babies, miscarriages, just tragedies in general.. Anything that I write now, I try to pretend like those first few years don't exist sometimes, simply because they were ridiculously loaded with too much crappy stuff haha I love your ending! I was considering ending my story (if I ever write the end) with some kind of a disaster, either a natural disaster or a bomb or something big. I don't know why I find this type of ending interesting, as I would hate it if my show I was watching ended like that haha I also was thinking about having some made up war happen which I would include (this was long time ago, I gave up on that idea with time). EDIT: I am currently considering a storyline about a giant fire destroying the town (as it is set in California), just so that I can move the characters to another place which is NOT California, because I want to have options of having winter-y storylines as well haha
  22. This sounds very interesting! It would have been a good read, I'm sure. And I love the title! "The Story of Us" is very simple but very effective title.
  23. Ah okay, thanks! I am not from USA, so I have never heard of it. But sounds like a good name for a soap opera town for sure
  24. Ah yes, I googled it and I saw that it was as city in Mississippi. That's cool! Is that where you set your story? Or it is another Biloxi somewhere else in USA? I set my story in a made up California town
  25. Oh thank you very much! I find it that I can think of a story, but then I am not so good with building it up and hitting the beats, so not sure if you would have enjoyed the daily episodes. Haha But thank you nevertheless. As you said, many good ideas mentioned in this thread. Thank you for starting this! Edit: I see I forgot to quote AbcNbc last post. Now I dont know how to do it lol Well that sounds fun! I want to start writing new things all the time, because new stories always pop in my mind, but I keep going back to "Life" since I invested many many years into it, so I keep pushing for it to continue But how awesome that you actually became a writer! So awesome!!
