And called it "good business".

Calling members of Congress really does help. The more opposition, the better. They will back off if enough people make a fuss, because they are all about keeping their seats. No one wants to lose a huge salary plus benefits, which is what members of Congress get and plenty of them need it badly.

And it's also important to note that a lot of people with market rate coverage pre-ACA saw rate increases, but that was only because the insurance companies were offering discount coverage plans that were crappy and once ACA came around those companies had to offer people better overall coverage that ended up being more expensive.

There is no fix all, perfect solution for healthcare, but the ACA got a lot of people insured that would have never otherwise received coverage. With all due respect, it's not an issue of "me, me, me", it's about getting as many people as possible covered. With that said, the insurance market is at risk of collapse if ACA is pulled, which means people who have no connection to ACA could lose their health insurance (including wealthier people).

I get no insurance from my work because I am an independent contractor, so my coverage comes through Medi-Cal. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the beginning of last year after a lot of tests and doctor visits. If ACA goes away, I'm going to be paying thousands of dollars a year for my medications, which are well over $400 dollars a month out of pocket. ACA being repealed is also going to cause emergency room visits to go up again and those visits are going to go unpaid for the most part, which will costs hospitals big. Costs are going to go up across the board and that will be disastrous.

Trump is lucky he didn't get trolled by a singer. It would have been hilarious had someone accepted and then gotten on stage and sang horribly off key or just walked around like Mariah Carey.

Sorry, sometimes it's hard to resist troll stomping.

Shouldn't you be more concerned about why you are so obsessed with Kelly Ripa and her family? Just making a point. You're a little creepy.

Trump has the most negative approval ratings of any President-elect. He has no capital, no mandate and no credibility. He was elected by a foreign power. There is no one to compare him to and his supporters are aware of that, which is why they are so desperate to find someone to blame for his glaring problems.

Ringling Bros. Circus is shutting down after 146 years. If that isn't an easy joke right now, I don't know what is.

There are some pictures on the account of Cheryl in her dressing room before shows, so I'm inclined to think the account is real and the reps are just covering for her craziness. If it's not her, she's got one incredibly determined imposter that has managed to avoid being banned by Twitter.

Cheryl Lynn tweeted something to Anita Baker and when she didn't get a response, she checked Anita's profile and found out that Anita had blocked her. Well, that set her off and she sent a tweet asking if Anita blocked her because she could sing her down on stage, then Anita started sub tweeting about Cheryl. It was really weird.

Cheryl Lynn attacked Anita Baker on Twitter and got blocked, so she's got some issues of her own to deal with. That aside, Jennifer Holliday will do just about anything to make money and has some Trump like qualities of her own. When the film version of Dreamgirls came out, she made some backhanded comments toward Jennifer Hudson and the film. She was off the scene for years because of being too full of herself and difficult to work with. Again, it's all about the money for her.

Trump is sick when it comes to Ivanka, like Victor Lord sick. I'll just leave it at that. Today, CSPAN was hacked by RT (Russian television) http://fortune.com/2017/01/12/cspan-rt-interruption/

The media enabled Trump during the campaign by reporting non-stop on everything negative about Clinton, while not reporting on Trump's various issues. If there is a media crackdown, the media is to blame.

Nothing all. Congress would have to investigate and there is no way that the Republican leadership will take that action.

Not at all. White working class men are becoming less and less of the electorate every cycle, because they are aging and dying off. Minorities are about to take over and white working class men are about to be in the minority.- The Politics Thread
Bernie Sanders is saying that he will listen to Jeff Sessions and isn't confirming that he will vote against him. That says a whole lot about his character. The biggest mistake that the Clinton campaign made was not focusing enough on Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, which are the cornerstone of Democratic electoral wins. Had more black voters shown up in all three of these states, Hillary Clinton would be President on January 20th. There's was not a whole lot that could be done to win over voters who bought into Trump pushing racial resentment. He brought out a lot of racist folks who generally do not vote. As long as the platform is economically fair, that's all that Democrats need to do. Once some of these Trump voters get their fill of him, they'll change their tune come 2020. The people that Democrats need to win back are the soft voters who bought into Trump being an outsider, yet voted Democratic further down ballot. It's a matter of microtargeting.- The Politics Thread
Putin seemingly wants control of the Baltic States, which are all part of NATO. Trump pulling the US out of NATO or at least reducing it's involvement is what Putin is after.- The Politics Thread
He's clearly already suffering from high blood pressure and he might have diabetes. Add in his mental problems and you have the most sickly President since JFK.- The Politics Thread

That's because they are more concerned about corporate profits. They constantly push the idea that increasing minimum wage will cause job losses, but that is a lie. - The Politics Thread
