  1. Being a writer is too much of a position of authority for a person of color, because white actors aren't going to want to feel as if they are being told what to do by someone who is non-white. And of course producers want to keep the establishment as old guard as possible because that is how things work in all industries.

This should surprise nobody but Ronn Moss is a hardcore Trumper

Not really surprised, but I would have thought that Moss was one of those dumb people who are apathetic about politics. But then again Trump has drawn in a lot of apathetic types.

Victoria wants her job back. She’s probably needs money. I get it, but she’s also exhausting. She was willing to come back years ago without any changes, so I believe she mostly wants her job back because she doesn’t have any other work out there at her age. Why else would she want to work in a hostile environment? I hope she comes back because the show could use Dru especially because Lily and Devon doesn’t do it for me. I’m sure all her social media post will go away once she has a new contract with Y&R

    Be quiet, Karen.

  4. And the daughter is hiding behind the fact that Candace Owens is black to justify her mother liking the posts. How predictable. The notion that black people can't be racist against black people is laughable. Then she had the nerve to call people cowardly calling her mother out cowardly when her mother won't even step out and address the issue herself. Everyone is indeed entitled to opinion which means that everyone else is entitled to have their own opinion about a person's backwards beliefs.

  5. Just a little bit of context about why Reeves liking anything by Candace Owens is disturbing.

    https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/429180-candace-owens-if-hitler-just-wanted-to-make-germany-great-and

Conservative activist Candace Owens said it would have been “OK” if Adolf Hitler wanted to keep his activities to Germany while speaking at a British conference in December.

Owens was responding to a question about her support for nationalism and said it was different from Nazi Germany.

"If Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well — OK, fine,” she said after she was asked about the word “nationalism,” according to BuzzFeed News, which first reported her remarks.

“The problem is he had dreams outside of Germany,” she continued. “He wanted to globalize. He wanted everybody to be German.”

And this is when she called black people chimpanzees.

    https://www.mediamatters.org/candace-owens/candace-owens-says-black-people-act-trained-chimpanzee-whenever-black-person-murdered

"That's how you have to be Black"? Listen to your psychological conditioning. If to be Black, you can't speak in proper English, or you're "acting white." Right? To be Black, you instantly have to jump up like a [!@#$%^&*] trained chimpanzee - excuse my language - like a trained chimpanzee every single time the media runs a story, and act angry, and riot, and talk about how pained you were to see this happen to Black people, but keep your mouth shut, right, when it happens Black-on-Black because if you talk about the Black-on-Black crime, you're a race traitor, right?

Candace Owens is a full on white supremacist and if Reeves is a fan of hers then she probably is one too. This isn't a mere difference in ideology or opinion. It's the difference between sanity and hateful, dangerous racism.

  6. Reeves is definitely expendable since her acting ability is hardly of Emmy caliber. Liking posts from someone who has defended Hitler and called black people chimpanzees is unacceptable. Candace Owens is a cover for racist white people because she pushes their views. In this climate it wouldn't surprise me if Reeves was fired.

  7. His support is most certainly dropping off. There is now concern that Trump is losing evangelical support

    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/21/trump-allies-see-threat-biden-evangelical-support-330780

Biden, a lifelong Roman Catholic, has performed better in recent polling among white evangelicals — and other religious groups — than Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton did in 2016 and is widely perceived as more religious than the current White House occupant.

“Here’s the problem for Trump: He needs to be at 81 percent or north to win reelection. Any slippage and he doesn’t get a second term, and that’s where Joe Biden comes into play,” said David Brody, chief political analyst at the Christian Broadcasting Network. “In this environment, with everything from the coronavirus to George Floyd and Trump calling himself the ‘law-and-order president,’ Biden could potentially pick off a percent or 2 from that 81 percent number.”

  8. Incorporating the virus into the storylines would make it much easier to pull off the social distancing guidelines. Kissing and bedroom scenes honestly aren't integral enough to go through such dumb filming tricks. If they are going to get creative, have some characters cheat over a meeting app. That would involve no touching and it could actually make for an interesting storyline.

It's times like this I really miss Ronn Moss. Imagine him growling as he makes love to his doll..... Ohhh Logaaaan....

Thankfully he is no longer employed with the show so that will not happen. That would be stomach churning.

I was just such a fan of hers and over the years her griping has started to bother me.  I don't remember KSJ or Shemar Moore or many black actors/actresses complaining about how they were treated on Y&R.  Something just comes across as a trouble maker.  Crystal Khalil (SP wrong I'm sure).  Mishael Morgan.  Whoever played Olivia.  And linking your former working relationship to Black Lives Matter is just weird to me when she had such success.  She was invited back for the KSJ memorial, and she's worked since Y&R.  Why is she so against Y&R

Someone will say this is white privilege, and I am white, but a gay male.  But I feel like VR could be the EP, Head Writer, Director, and own the show and she still wouldn't be happy.

First off not everyone handles things the same. Some black actors and actresses will just refrain from saying anything because they want to work. Black people are always called troublemakers if they complain about anything. You being gay is not relevant here, but being white still comes in ahead of that. Your privilege is showing in your posts.

I just read the VR article.  Honestly I'm so tired of hearing her.  It's old now and she just doesn't stop.  If mouthy whiny complaining white women can be called "Karen" then she's a Karen.

It's not like she's running around threatening to call the police on people for nothing or blocking people from going into their apartment buildings or coughing on people because they don't want to follow social distancing rule. She has real complaints.

I give Steven Bochco credit for trying to rectify that situation with his short-lived "City of Angels," which was the first network TV drama series to feature a predominantly Black cast (Blair Underwood, Vivica A. Fox, etc.).  But, man, the writing for that show, like most of Bochco's post-"NYPD Blue" shows, was so anemic.

I remember City of Angels because it seemed like it had potential. About five years before that CBS had aired another attempt at a  drama with a black cast with Under One Roof starring James Earl Jones. It lasted six episodes, but Jones managed to get an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

  13. There is also the fact that Tyler had an established audience from years of doing plays that were directly marketed to a black audience that mainstream writers and producers do not tap into for the most part. I say the most part because start up networks like FOX, UPN and WB had no problem flooding their schedules with comedies that appealed to urban audiences, but not any drama series.

  14. One of the silliest has to be Leigh Taylor-Young playing Katherine Crane who was mother to Julian Crane played by Ben Masters who is only two years younger. The writers tried to explain as Katherine having had plastic surgery, but it still was a fail.
