Storylines and periods in a show that made you STOP watching
I have taken a break from GH many times. There have been some truly horrible storyline periods under various writers. DOD was one particularly bad era. The Shiloh stuff. My lord. I took another break during the summer of Carly/Jason's "romance". Yikes. I was so glad when he got buried under rubble that fall. And I hope he doesn't ever return to be honest. For Days, I have also taken many breaks too and am considering taking another one now lol It's just not very good and I don't see it getting any better with Ron at the helm. OLTL - The "Todd"/Marty rapemance. That was so awful. Ron and Frank at their worst. What the heck? Guiding Light - I stopped watching permanently in I think 2007. It just wasn't one storyline that chased me away. It wasn't the same show anymore. Of course, the irony is now I'd give anything to have the show back. Port Charles - I stopped watching once the supernatural completely took over and they killed off Eve. It wasn't my show anymore and I had loved it so much before.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Such a shame. I just watched an episode last night from July where Carla is actually reading and laughing over a tabloid article about a woman thinking she was abducted by aliens, and I thought, is this the best the writers can come up with for Thee Carla Connor?

They decided to bring back Taylor and axed the Morgan story if I remember correctly.

Whatever has happened to this soap opera performer?
Does anyone know what happened to Jocelyn Seagrave? I was watching an episode of the original Charmed last night, and she appeared as a demon character, and I remembered watching her on Guiding Light. I am curious where she ended up.

Neighbours: Discussion Thread
The actors who play Nell and Hugo are fantastic. They really cast great little actors in the roles. I like the show. I see a lot of complaints on social media about the new chapter but for me, it's really starting to find its footing now. I am enjoying it. I just hope people really give it a chance so we can keep it on the air.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I started watching Corrie again recently on BritBox (I'm in the July 2023 episodes right now). I noticed Carla doesn't seem to have much of a storyline at this time anyway. I've always gotten the feeling that she's one of the most popular and well-known Corrie characters. It seems strange they are basically using her for window dressing and have toned down her character's audaciousness a lot.

Neighbours: Discussion Thread
Glad it trended in Australia on Twitter and really happy it's no. 1 in the UK on Amazon Freevee. Really hope that's a good sign for the longevity of the show.

So, Neighbours won't be airing Fridays? Is that typical for this soap or is this an Amazon thing?

Days of Our Lives: September 2023 Discussion Thread
EOB is great, but it feels by casting her as Theresa they're forcing a square peg into a round hole here. It's like an RSW/Alex situation where Ron is so stuck on the actor, he's going overboard to keep them relevant at any cost, although I will admit EOB is a much better actor than RSW could ever dream of being. It's so nonsensical. I don't see EOB having chemistry with Eric Martsolf and the others Theresa's supposed to be around. I hope I'm wrong though because we're stuck.

SOD (DAYS/GH)
Ron is obsessed with RSW. Wowza!!

Neighbours going for Emmys would be awesome. It would get a lot of USA eyes on the program. The more people watching the better for its success and longevity.

Neighbours: Discussion Thread
I am fairly new to the show. I only started watching earlier this year when it came to Amazon Freevee so I don't have the years of emotional investment that others do yet, but I like what they're doing with the show so far. I like JJ too. His family has an interesting & mysterious vibe to them. I really like the potential of Mackenzie and Haz. Holly annoys the crap out of me. I like Carl and Susan as a couple and individually. I like Terese and Toadie together and I realize that's an unpopular opinion. I also know it won't last and I am fine with that. I like the dramatic potential for when it all implodes lol Mischa looks very different from her OC years obviously but not bad at all. I am intrigued by her character. I just think she doesn't need to be locked into so many solo scenes with Byron. Cute as he is, they both need development. It's a little slow moving for premiere week but I think that's okay because they have to catch up new fans like me! lol

Billy Miller Dead at 43
I am still processing this. Or trying anyway. RIP Billy. What a loss. Deadline is reporting he was survived by longtime love Kelly Monaco. So, I guess they were still dating when he died. I feel for her, and I feel for his family & friends. Such a travesty!

What was the moment and exact storyline that made you love that particular soap opera?
AMC: I started watching in late 1998. I was really hooked by the characters airing then - Gillian, Edmund, Ryan (yes, Ryan!), Dixie, Tad, Hayley, Mateo, to name but a few. But it was the Kit Fisher rape storyline that really pulled me in. I was oddly fascinated by Paige Rowland's portrayal of the character. I thought Christine/Kit should have stuck around awhile longer, but I digress. The whole werewolf mask thing was terrifying to me, but also so compelling. I became a lifelong AMC fan due to that short-run storyline. GH: Liz and Lucky, the 90's/boxcar/rape storyline. Who didn't love them? I ended up sticking around for other characters, but they started the obsession. However, I gave up the show a while ago and really don't miss it. Guiding Light: The David Grant story. Kat Speakes. Bridget Reardon. Nadine's baby lie. Such good stuff. Y&R: Victoria and Ryan's love story. B&B: The original Tridge love story. Ronn and Hunter were the most beautiful people on soaps once upon a time. I just can't get into the new version despite Krista and Thorsten being lovely, lovely actors. I just think the casting is off there somehow. Plus, I want Krista back on Days so bad, I can't stand it. Days: Bo/Billie. RKK/Lisa Rinna. Say what you will about those 2 as human beings, but they had mad chemistry. Hope who that?

I liked the first episode. I thought the twist at the end was really unexpected, but I am really curious how it came to happen. and on a shallow note: new Byron is absolutely drool-worthy lol

2023 Writers + Actors Strike Thread
Netflix and other streaming services don't want to pay residuals? So, do they really expect to get the content for free? The greed & arrogance of it all! I think the strike is sad to see, but necessary. I am curious though. Is this - and the actor's strike - going to affect all Amazon projects, such as the ones overseas, like the Neighbours return?

OLTL/Y&R/B&B/PSSNS - Andrea Evans Dead at 66
Rebecca was a thoroughly irreverent character and Andrea was fearless in her portrayal. Andrea was so good at being bad. She did everything well. She was a legend and an icon. I just am not ready to say goodbye to her. I never will be.

I agree. I think Holiday is doing pretty good. Her best scenes have been with Tajh so far. She's a more seriously Molly than Haley was, but I still see Molly when I watch her scenes.

I admit it. The reactions to the sex scene almost make it worth the price of admission. 🤣
