  1. Just one more thing - I do like Carmen Duncan as Pamela. I really liked her as Iris on AW (which I watch everyday on Soapnet) and I can really see her as a healthy, wealthy, manipulative, vindictive, and razor witted Pamela. I didn't mind Marj and thought she did a pretty good job when Pamela first came back to Santa Barbara during Cruz's trial, but I think the character is different and a recast works for me right now.

    Teri

I just noticed what you said here, all those years later. If you thought Marj did a good job when Pamela first came back for Cruz's trial, then it's not Marj you like at all. Shirley Anne Field was the original Pamela and played her during Cruz's trial and was FAR BETTER and more believable than Marj.

Marj was the Pamela that poisoned Kelly, blackmailed TJ, and took part in the whole oil rig storyline. She was AWFUL. Her best work came in 1991, during the Dinner Party sequence, when the Dobsons had returned. But she had A LOT of help from the writing and collaboration with EXCELLENT actors (like Jed Allan, Judith McConnell, Gordon Thomson, and Marcy Walker, all of which lead the sequence).

I usually catch things like that, but I guess it took me 6 years to notice. Too funny!

  2. I will probably be doing some recapping within the episodes to help viewers, both new & old, familiarize themselves with where we're at in the stories.

And unfortunately, it was just life that got in the way today. As I said, when you read the Lockridge storyline, I think you'll begin to understand that I have A LOT of personal sh!t on my plate at the moment.

But not to worry. One more day won't kill you guys, after a 6 YEAR wait! And there WILL be 3 new episodes this week, I promise! For real! :)

  3. Because it dawned on me that the storyline I had planned for him was something too dramatic for Jason Brooks to play. I wanted to make Warren a bit sexier (for you guys- I think Grant Aleksander is FREAKIN HOT), but Jason wouldn't have been right for the story I have planned for the Lockridges. Warren actually has 3 storylines he's going to be involved in now, once the Lockridge storyline kicks off.

I really wanted to switch it to Robert Kelker-Kelly, because I find him to be such a sexy, soulful actor, but he doesn't look the part.

In the end, I decided that Grant really embodies everything I need in an actor to play Warren right now.

And I'm sorry the episode still isn't posted you guys. I fell asleep this afternoon and now, I've been busy setting people straight about Bridget Dobson on this board. Sorry, but I couldn't allow the members of this board to sully Bridget's name on the 20th anniversary of the death of her baby.

Don't worry, though. RTSB is still back and I'll still have 3 episodes this week, they'll just kick off tomorrow and run through the weekend. :)

  4. Down to 3 more days and counting!!!!

    January 15, 2013, remember?!? tongue.png

But look for a special News item to be posted sometime this weekend. SONBC asked for an interview and I graciously accepted. I ended up revealing FAR MORE behind the scenes stuff than I have in my previous interviews- spoilers, future storylines, and some insight into how this 'RTSB' started, why it only came back for 10 episodes in 2010, and what to expect for all of 2013.

It should more than whet your apetite for what's to come..... smile.png

In the meantime, post in the 'Santa Barbara' threads in DTS: Video Bash and DTS: Cancelled Soaps ( sad.png ).

****note: only logged in members of SON can view the DTS: Video Bash section, so if you aren't a member, please register right away! It's also the only way you'll be able to comment on the episodes and join in on the conversation.********

  5. I have to give myself a little pat on the back- "The First Noel" actually came from AOL Music in 2006 but has since been removed, but I did a darn good job finding another piece that's just the piano instrumental of "The First Noel," just like the original. Honestly, though, I actually prefer the song I replaced it with (the youtube video you see on there now).

  6. Thanks SB34. That's what I thought. So 'RTSB' will re-launch on January 15, 2013.

And no, ccnathaniel, I don't acknowledge that anything that Pam Long wrote ever happened, so Warren & BJ were never a couple in 'RTSB' land.

But don't worry. You'll get your fill of Julia, Mason, Eden, Kelly, and all the rest.

I suggest those of you that want to read along when I re-launch who haven't read this yet should go ahead and read the first 102 or 103 episodes so you understand what's going on. I may write up a short summary of what's happened so far before the first episode debuts, but it still would be preferable for you guys to read everything written before this.

  7. He's doing better, thanks. He still doesn't have a full apetite, he's a bit slow-moving, and has less energy. But it's just how the surgery kinda wipes the body out. To me, he's MUCH stronger than he was when he went in and that's the important thing. I think he's gonna come through this just fine and will be a better man for it. He's already doing his best to be.

  8. Yes. Unfortunately, as this was being planned, my father was taken to the ER and ended up spending 6 weeks in the hospital, which ended with him having a major surgery called a "Whipple." He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer Stage 2, but luckily, it was all encapsulated in the tumor, which was removed, along with half of his insides. He's just come home and it being just he, my mom, and I living here, it's been A LOT of work for me and has taken up much of my time. He is recovering and within the next 3 weeks, he should be A LOT better than he is now and should be more self-sufficient.

In any event, all of your prayers would be appreciated!

As for 'RTSB', while it's been on hold, that hold will soon be ending. I plan on a re-start towards the end of May/early June. I will pick up right from where I left off. It may start out with only a few episodes a week instead of 5, but it will still continue. As soon as I'm positive of the return date, I will make the announcement.

It's been so long and had so many false starts I wouldn't blame you if you were sick of me and felt like ditching me and the blog altogether. Thank you all so much for your continued interest, as that is what inspires me to write.

So sorry it took me so long to get back to you but as you can see now, I've had my hands quite full. Looking forward to the continuation and you all posting your thoughts. When I announce the date, I plan to do a fun little exercise that will get you all involved again before the show gets going that I think everyone will enjoy.

Until we meet again (aka, sooner than later),

    Greg

  9. When I have regular computer access again, you will. There's a reason I'm never here or post on the site- I can't get on!

It will come back. It will always return. It's a labor of love and I'd kill to actually do something with it someday. It's a dream of mine to revive it and if those people at this AMC/OLTL venture had half a brain, they'd have contacted me by now because SB OR RTSB will bring EYEBALLS to their internet soap-speriment. And that's a fact.

There's a reason you all read and come back when I bring it back. Because this is how a real soap should be done and none of them are doing it and none of them will ever do it like SB did it so this is ALL WE HAVE!

So I will always come back to it. I miss it. It's hard to pick it back up and preserve continuity because I have to re-read the entire series each time because all of this is done from my head.

    But Mark. My. Words.

    IT WILL BE BACK.

    AND

    IT WILL BE DAMN GOOD!

  10. LOL, well, considering you've only read 1, you're about 105 episodes behind...... How about you check out those and catch up during the hiatus? That way, when we return, you'll know what's going on. Because honestly, this is not an easy blog to follow if you A)Don't know the original program "Santa Barbara" or B ) Haven't read and paid attention from the beginning.

If it's a "NO" to both, which I suspect in your case it is, then some stories will be impossible to follow and your enjoyment of the series will be diminished immensely.
