  1. A nation held hostage by the NRA and the GOP.
  2. Ah, okay. I have a very hazy memory of Flame down in the Bayou.
  3. Rutanya Alda was on soaps? Never knew that! (And I watched SB during the time she was said to be on.) I recall her mainly from the Law & Order franchise. She was on the Mothership and she had a memorable turn as a woman on Criminal Intent whose character carried a "stone baby". Creepy episode! As an aside, I did look to see if she was related to Alan Alda and his family once. Nope! Who says this thread isn't educational?
  4. This thread is making me feel old. But I agree with the Gen X sentiment, being a Gen-X'er, myself. (Born in 1972.) I recall the big deal when Bill Clinton was elected in '92 (the first presidential election I voted in) and MTV, before it was trash, had town halls and other such things with him, and Gen-X'ers were credited in helping to get a "younger" president elected. If only we had such power now. How far this country has fallen.
  5. And in other news, pedo Jeffrey Epstein was found in his prison cell injured and in the fetal position. It was believed to be a suicide attempt.
  6. Rand Paul and Mike Lee are pieces of s-h-i-t. Just your daily reminder! And this picture circulating on Twitter, as Evil Turtle passes a smirking Jon Stewart before the 9/11 vote says it all:
  7. Yeah, I remember seeing it in all of its glory during those episodes. Such a shame!
  8. Just saw Lonnie Quinn, a.k.a. the first nicer Will Cooney/Cortlandt on the CBS Evening News, doing the weather. So weird. I know he switched careers ages ago, but it's still kind of a trip. Still very recognizable, albeit older. Naturally.
  9. I think the "United" States is done. I think blue states should secede from red and let's just coexist with different Americas and different laws. The trouble there is, blue states subsidize red, so... *shrug* I wish I had the answer.
  10. Glad to be of service.
  11. Just to clarify, that was from Law & Order: Criminal Intent. But yeah, that episode now looks like it was predicting the future by 14 years or so. (Think the episode was in S5, so about 2005.)
  12. Funny how I even remembered some of the pictures! Thanks, @amybrickwallace!
  13. Jeffrey Epstein, pervert and Trump buddy, in some big trouble again. Hmm. I wonder how many in D.C. are ensnared in this mess? Go, SDNY and Letitia James! https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/jeffrey-epstein-taken-into-custody-in-new-york-on-new-charges-relating-to-sex-crimes-involving-minors/2019/07/06/06b86ed0-a058-11e9-9ed4-c9089972ad5a_story.html?utm_term=.24a01a560f4f
  14. The Army took over AIRPORTS during the Revolutionary War. Jesus H. Christ. We'd be better off if the Trump BALLOON were president. But screw that debacle. The Macy's fireworks over the Brooklyn Bridge were GORGEOUS.
  15. I know it is too early, but Biden seems to represent our last "golden time" - when our government cared for all its citizens, rather than the "base" and the corporations. I will vote for whichever person gets the nomination, save for Bernie (I just can't with him! But I won't vote for Trump EVER...). Frankly, though, I think Biden will hold on. People, for good or bad, seem to respond to him as a person. And, as we should have learned in 2016, while it should be, electability seems less about issues and is more about "cult of personality". And people like Uncle Joe. Shrug.
  16. The gerrymandering decision has thrown out any legitimacy of this court, IMO. It's basically spitting on the idea that a vote really does count. I don't know if it can happen, but Dems need a complete majority in 2020, House/Senate/White House, and expand the court to 13 or 15. If the above doesn't happen, this "democracy" is basically done. There was an article in WaPo recently about some farmer in flyover country complaining about the "elitist" coasts. He stated that the coasts should be their own countries, and the rest of "salt of the earth" America would be fine. Well, I say, put it to the test. And stop letting the red states mooch entirely. Let's see how Blue America would fare versus Red America. Separate but equal. We stopped being the United States ages ago, anyway.
  17. And the ACA is being threatened once more - thanks to 5th circuit judges appointed by Orange Tumor (Trump) and Toxic Turtle (McConnell). I ALMOST want them to repeal the ACA. Just imagine the fun the GOP will have in 2020 if that happens!
  18. Aaaaaaaaand Trump starts his Twitter tantrum.
  19. The GOP rep stating that whichever police officer searching for him had better be armed and single was a lovely touch.
  20. GOP lawmakers skipped town to avoid a vote. Then the governor called the police.
  21. I think it's a bunch of nothing. Everyone involved were adults. Was it seedy? Maybe. But nothing that the GOP likely hasn't done. And the GOP clutching pearls when all that would have to be said is, "President Dump on third wife, cheated on previous wives, five kids by three different women. The end." would highlight the hypocrisy beautifully.
  22. Good for him. He was one of the best damned writers that show ever had.
  23. Trash begets trash. Kellyanne Con-Job is trash working for Trump, Supreme Trash. All of this said, nothing will happen. Corruption from top to bottom. I would say I feel sorry for George Conway, but he stays married to the blonde bimbo, so...meh.
  24. Just spied the late Mark LaMura on an old episode of Law & Order talking with fellow ex-soap actor (and main L&O cast member at the time) Elisabeth Rohm. Airing on Sundance.
  25. No love for Santa Barbara here? When it was good, it was awesome! (And when it was bad, a la the last year or two, it was painful.) still, it seemed to get a lot of love and a cult following for only 8.5 years on the air.
